Something annoyed Ky-Vin's sleep.
He had a bad taste in his mouth, and something was blowing in his face.
Slowly he got up, surprised at the feeling of the wind.
Sand? He could barely open his eyes. It was everywhere. A great sand storm had risen.
Ky-Vin could barely make out the dark shape of the creature they had slain.
"Kenshin!" he called. "Kenshin, we've got to get out of here!"

Kenshin suddenly woke to someone's shouting. When his senses started to function, the first thing he noticed was a mouth full of grit.
"Ffft! Sand!"
He quickly scanned the area for Ky-Vin and nodded when he noticed the other padawan.
"Yeah."

Ky-Vin could barely make out Kenshin's voice in the incredible windstorm.
He thought quickly. He looked up and down the canyon, for all the good it did him in the sand. They couldn't go back now, and who knew how far the canyon went on ahead before they could find shelter.
They had only one choice.
Ky-Vin shouted, "Come on, in here!" and scrambled up into the large gap in the wall, the one created by the creature that had attacked him.
It was a good shelter, Ky-Vin saw. The cave-like hole was actually a tunnel, and it went on into pitch darkness.

Barely able to make out the outline of the cave's mouth, Kenshin locked onto Ky-Vin's Force signature and swam his way though the sand.
When he reached the cave's mouth, he dove into the empty space.
"Whew..."
He watched as the sandstorm roared past the entrance of the cavern. It was a huge wave of sand. Kenshin then turned to see Ky-Vin gazing at the start of a dark tunnel. He got up and walked over.
"What do we have here?"

Ky-Vin was walking deeper into the cave, which more like a tunnel. It continued further and further into the darkness.
"So this is how that creature was tracking us..from inside the mountains," Ky-Vin said, "how interesting."
Ky-Vin looked back at Kenshin. "It may be a long while before the storm passes. We can either stay he and wait it out, or.." Ky-Vin gestured back toward the darkness, "we can do a little exploring.."

Kenshin gave the dark tunnel a thoughtful look.
"Hmmm. I say we do a little exploring. I'm curious. But if we meet up with something unpleasant, I doubt we can run back this way."

Ky-Vin nodded while he was pulling his hair back neatly, it had been blown all over the place in the storm.
"Right. We don't know if any more of those..things could be in here. Alright...if we sense anything like that, we double back right away."
Ky-Vin headed into the tunnel. It was about as wide as the creature, and the two of them could fit side by side.
"We could have used that lantern about now.." Ky-Vin said.
Instead, he ignited his lightsaber and held it up in front of them. It bathed the tunnel in a clean green light.

Kenshin unclipped the training saber Master Wade gave him and held out the slightly smaller cylinder.
"Let's use this one for a light source. Don't waste your energy pack, you might need your lightsaber for more important reasons later."
He ignited the training saber and the tunnel lit up with a low white glow. He decided not to put it on full power. The bright light might wake something.

Ky-Vin returned the polished hilt to his belt. "Agreed," he said.
Together, they moved down the tunnel. They could sense the walls, floor, and ceiling of the tunnel using the Force, but it was easier to just move carefully along with Kenshin lighting the way.
The walls were smooth in some places, rough and craggy in others. The tunnel was gradually sloping downwards. Sometimes it would turn left and other times right. Eventually the tunnel gave way to a large series of caverns.
It was eerie down there, in the absolute silence. Ky-Vin was unafraid, he just felt strange, as if he were entering some unspoiled, alien world.
"Hmm.." Ky-Vin said aloud, breaking the quiet. His voiced echoed on the cavern walls and ceiling. They weaved their way through a maze of stalagmites and stalactites, hanging from the ceiling and jutting up from the floor. The faint trickle of water could be heard.
"I guess we're moving under one of those streams." Ky-Vin said.

Kenshin nodded in agreement. The padawan gave the cavern they were in a curious scan as they paused for a moment. He held up the lightsaber a bit and it illuminated a circle around them with white light.
"The creature uses these tunnels as some sort of a highway, eh? You don't suppose there's more of them?"
It was highly possible that the creature had a clan of some sort. He didn't feel like bumping into too many of them.
