Exploration of Ambria (Kenshin only)

A relatively small cruiser had just come out of hyperspace. Two Jedi were on board: Ky-Vin Zurik and Kenshin Katarn.
The ship was headed for Ambria, in the Stennes Node. The planet loomed closer and closer in their main viewport.

Ky-Vin remembered what he had read about Ambria in the archives: 'Meteorological interference from Ambria's extensive ring system creates unusual weather patterns, especially in the Tiernavel Mountains. Violent dust storms are commonplace, as are periods of total calm. The ring system exerts such a profound effect over the region that it is difficult to predict changes in the weather.'

He wondered if they'd be able to find Lake Natth, nevermind the Meditative Canyon, their ultimate goal on this mission.

Ky-Vin turned to Kenshin, who was at the controls.
"Our first stop is going to be Lake Natth. Those coordinates we dug up in the archives are the only thing we can go on for now.."

OOC: Whoops, wrong account name. Lemme switch that asap.

OOC: Lol. It's okay.

IC:

Kenshin nodded at the coordinates. This would be an interesting piloting experiance even if the planet was a drag. He doubted that the planet would be boring though. It's Force intune sites were quite interesting to the padawan as well as the planet's unpredictable weather. They would have to be alert of all changes on this mission.

Ky-Vin watched at Kenshin brought their craft down into the planet's atmosphere, into the thick and churning clouds that covered the planet.

The raging cloud formations gave way to rugged terrain. Reddish-brown mountains could be seen stretching off into the horizon. Kenshin piloted their ship between the heavy atmosphere and the tops of the rocky crags.

Ky-Vin watched the high peaks and deep crevices as they flew over. Somewhere in there was the Meditative Canyon of Jedi lore, and they were going to find it.

Soon, their ship had passed over the Tiernavel Mountains and shot out across the rocky desert-like plains. Vegatation and water was scarce.
Beneath their ship, Ky-Vin could see small flocks of reptilian creatures darting away. 'These must be Neeks', he thought.

Up ahead, Ky-Vin spotted a crater-like opening in the ground.
"There it is. That must be Lake Natth."

As Kenshin circled the location, Ky-Vin got a better look at it. It was a wide crater dug into the desert ground. A dark pool of water remained in its center.
But Ky-Vin's attention was drawn to a large structure only meters away from the crater's edge. An obelisk, knocked over and broken at its base, was half buried in sand and rock. A few markings could be seen in its surface. Sith markings.

Ky-Vin nodded at Kenshin. "Take us down."

Kenshin was quite amazed at the scene of the planet which comprised mostly of sand and rock. The wind was an uncertain factor on the planet and it randomly stirred the sand shifting the terrain.

He peered out the window as they flew over Lake Natth. It was a big crater with a small pool of murky water. There also seemed to be a dark, tall object pointing out of the sand.

He searched the terrain for a flat spot to land and found a slightly raised plateau. They glided over and Kenshin eased the ship to the ground with a muffled thump.

"We're here." He said as he peered out the window at the lake.

After the ship had landed, Ky-Vin nodded his approval and left the cockpit.
"I'm going to take some supplies with us, but we're going to have to travel light," Ky-Vin said, and he slung a small pack over his shoulder. It contained some food, fresh water, and some medical supplies. Jedi were trained to manage without such things, but on this hostile planet, Ky-Vin wanted to be extra careful.

Kenshin lowered the ship's exit ramp and Ky-Vin stepped out onto sandy plains. He walked to the edge of the plateau. It wasn't very steep, and it was only a short distance away to Lake Natth. The Sith obelisk beside it was cracked and broken, only a quarter or so of it remained standing. The rest lay in the sandy ground nearby. No doubt the frequent sandstorms had worn away the structure.

Ages ago, the Jedi of legend confined the dark side forces of Ambria to this spot...

A sense of dread churned in Ky-Vin's stomach, but he stifled it immediately. He wanted to do this, he had to. Ky-Vin wanted to test himself, to prove to himself that he could resist an encounter with the dark side.

Ky-Vin waited for Kenshin so they could begin their journey.

Kenshin followed not far behind Ky-Vin down the ramp. He stepped onto the sand and adjusted to the feel of the terrain.

The padawan looked up at the onyx obelisk with curiosity. It gave off an odd feeling of dread. He had expected that from a Sith object though and suppressed the depressing thread of energy.

"Isn't that a happy sight..." He remarked in a mild, sarcastic tone. "What now?"

"We head down and take look. Perhaps record some of the markings left on the obelisk. Then we head off into the mountains."

Ky-Vin made his way down the rocky slope of the plateau and crossed the wasteland to the "lake". As they walked, a surpisingly strong breeze would whip up some sand every now and then. He hoped they wouldn't have to experience one of Ambria's full-fledged sandstorms.
Ky-Vin looked at the sky. The thick clouds blocked out of alot of the sun, so it was not very hot. Still, the atmosphere seemed desolate. It was as if some major catastrophe had left the planet this way.

Finally they reached the edge of the crater. Ky-Vin peered over the edge. The water was rather opaque. It was probably clouded with sand and rubble. Every now and then gases seemed to bubble to the surface of the lake and escape into the air. Ky-Vin made a nasty face.
He turned to Kenshin:
"We shouldn't linger here. Those fumes could be hazardous.."

Kenshin followed Ky-Vin down the gradual slope toward the crater of murky water. He nodded at Ky-Vin's comment of the acid fumes that emitted from the lake.

"We'll work fast then..."

He then turned to look at the obelisk searching for symbols or pictures.

Ky-Vin agreed.
He followed him over to the Sith obelisk.

There were several large markings going down the pillar-like structure. He took out his small datapad and tried to recored them as best he could.

Ky-Vin and Kenshin then began to inspect the obelisk closer. It was only a matter of time before Kenshin noticed several other long inscriptions hidden among the designs carved into the obelisk.
"Good work," Ky-Vin told him. These writings might better help the Jedi understand what could have happened on this planet, and provide more information about the history of the Jedi and Sith in their archives.
Upon closer inspection, they could see that much of the writing was simply too damaged to read or record. The obelisk itself had been so worn down by wind and sand that only partial sequences could be made out.

They moved up and down the stone structure, searching for more. Then Ky-Vin thought he had found some more. He begn scraping away at the wrong and sand...
And as he moved his hand across the black stone...he felt something stir in the Force.
He opened himself up to the Force and focused his attention on the obelisk. Immediately, a warning of danger seemed to flood his body.
There was indeed power here...it was corrupted, twisted, uncontrolled power. But it was so easily tapped into...
Ky-Vin stared into the black stone, as if in a trance.

As Ky-Vin bent down to dig at the base of the structure, Kenshin kneeled to help. After a moment of digging, he noticed that something in the atmosphere was missing.

The scraping sound of Ky-Vin digging. He looked up to see the fellow Jedi staring upward at the stone unblinking, as if in some trance.

Kenshin stood up and gave Ky-Vin a worried look. He walked over and waved his hand infront of his face trying to get him to snap out of it.

"Hellooo..."
