Exploration of Ambria (Kenshin only)

Ky-Vin nodded as he returned his datapad to his utility belt.
He looked back at the canyon and the many caves that branched into it.
"There are so many caves and crystal formations here. Why don't we split up and meet back here at nightfall? We could cover more ground that way, as long as we take care not to leave the canyon," Ky-Vin suggested.

Ky-Vin looked at the crystal formations around them. "And I'm sure some of these would make excellent crystals for lightsabers."

Kenshin grinned.

"Of course. Okay then, I'll go that way."

The padawan motioned to their right where a large rock formation could be seen in the distance glittering like the rest of the landscape as it was full of crystals.

"Alright then." Ky-Vin said, nodding.
"And I'll try and make it across to the other side of the canyon, to check out the caves over there."

Ky-Vin smiled, remembering how he had almost knocked them both off the side of the ledge the previous day.
"And I'll be careful, I promise," Ky-Vin added.

With that, Ky-Vin left Kenshin and moved back out on the ledge, making his way around the canyon so he could make it somehow to the other side. He decided to move down to the river, and he thought he could perhaps cross somewhere down there using the rocky outcroppings that protruded from the surface of the water.

"You better be, heh."

Kenshin grinned and made his way down the other side of the ledge they were standing on. Light reflected everywhere. It was like walking through an ocean of bright mirrors and Kenshin had to squint or keep his eyes shielded with his hood in order to see properly.

Ky-Vin was slowly making his way down the ledges to the bottom of the Meditative Canyon.
The ledges were narrow, and Ky-Vin found himself peering anxiously over the edge in a few spots before continuing onwards.

Soon enough, Ky-Vin selected what he thought would be the best way to get across.
He crouched down and slipped off the ledge he had been following and slid down the side of the canyon to the ledge below.
From here, he could jump to the nearest outcropping that protruded from the river.
Ky-Vin watched as the river slowly flowed past. It barely flowed, he noticed, and from far away it could be mistaken for a lake. The water seemed to be coming from a small break in the rock at the head of the canyon, and it disappeared downstream around a rocky bend.
Ky-Vin wondered where the water ended up, but he was more interested in the crystal formations and sparkling minerals that stuck out of the rocks.

As Kenshin neared the towering formation of rock, the shadow it cast relieved some of the burden on the padawan's eyes.

As he got a closer look, he noticed the mouth of a small cave embedded into the outcrop. His curiousity getting the better of him, he entered to investigate.

When his eyes adjusted to the absence of light, he noticed a group of stunningly clear cut formation of crystals. The absence of heat probably sped up the solidifying process creating stones with less flaws.

The cave walls glittered mysteriously as the little light entering from the cave enterance was warped by the tiny prisms.

Ky-Vin leapt from the ledge to the large chunk of rock that stuck out of the water. It was closeby, and he didn't need the aid of the Force to get there.
Even still, Ky-Vin had to be careful. The rocky outcroppings weren't level. Some that were ahead really had no where to stand on them, or the rock was sharp and sloping to one side.

Ky-Vin stopped here to check out the crystal formations. None of them appeared suitable for use in lightsabers. But Ky-Vin was sure he would find some eventually.

He stood up and moved to get ready for the next jump. The slowly moving water looked deep. With the added power of the Force, Ky-Vin launched through the air and landed on the next little island. He was careful to slow his descent using the Force, and he felt as if he had landed without any inertia at all.
Ky-Vin wondered what Kenshin was up to...

Wanting to get a better look, Kenshin ignited his lightsaber to use as a light source.

Big mistake.

The result was a disasterous. The bright light of the saber lit up the cave alright. Too well perhaps. The crystals reflected the light instantaniously creating an emense flash blinding Kenshin for a moment.

"Gah!"

He immediatly shut the saber off muttering something about being so stupid. As he adjusted to the darkness once more, he decided to try something else.

As he walked out of the cave he picked up a broken crystal. He gathered some wood and soon had a torch. Old fashioned lighting perhaps, but useful. He then returned into the cave to explore after putting out the fire.

Ky-Vin had finally made it to the other side of the Meditative Canyon.
Upon scrambling up the rocky slope at the water's edge, Ky-Vin came up a small "pocket" in the side of the canyon. It was hardly a cave, and it went only a few feet into the face of the rock.

Ky-Vin was pleased to find that the recessed wall of the cave had beautiful crystals climbing across it in small clusters.
Ky-Vin crawled toward then, nearly bumping his head on a bit of rock that hung from the ceiling.
'These crystals are in good condition. Almost perfect.' Ky-Vin thought as he inspected them further. There were hardly any flaws in them. It was almost a shame to take them from their natural setting.
Frowning a bit, Ky-Vin ignited his lightsaber and selected too crystals that looked especially promising. One was a bright orange, another was a deep blue. He carefully cut them from their respective clusters and placed them in the pouch on his utility belt.

Then, Ky-Vin climbed out of the cave and slowly made his way up the canyon wall to the next ledge.

Now having a light to better suit his exploring purposes, Kenshin was able to get a better view of the quality of the crystals in the cave.

He wasn't disapointed. He found four that seemed suitable for the job in a lightsaber and they were a good size with no flaws in their formations.

Now how to removed them from the walls. The lightsaber would be very bright. Instead, Kenshin took the sharp, flat crystal he had used earlier to pry them from their spots.

Two vibrant purples, a stunning green, and a brillant white. He placed these crystals in the pouch hanging from his utility belt.
