*shakes head*

........

This rookie better come up with a damn good RP if he plans to explain how his faction can have that damn destroyer in the RnD.

I think the N00B reference was as relates to TRF. I appreciate the work done on this, I really do. And I think most of the problems should be cleared up by this.

I do want to mention two things, though. First, it is a bit much to say the Atlanteans have three of those fleet destroyers. I can go with one completed and one more being built, maybe, but that's about it. As I have said in numerous places, even if you have built up this faction in a Sci-Fi book, you are a NEW faction here on TRF. Meaning you should be smaller than most factions. And less powerful. That's just as a general rule.

The second thing is the constant double-posting. There is a little button that says "Edit Post." I use it quite often myself. It's generally better to do that and add "EDIT" in front of whatever you want to write than to double or triple or, heaven help us, quadruple post.

A long rant I was writing in your R&D thread than figured it would go better here. Sort of an expansion on Drayson's thing (can't let TNO beat GC, lets start a one-up-manship of who can be more helpful :p )

I understand what you want to do. You want to create your own faction that is special and has special ships, culture, species, etc. That is fine, has been done multiple times before. I made up a species, Dolash made up a species, lots of people have made up species. But we did not simply say "We have this super strong empire that spans multiple systems and beat the largest and most militaristic faction the galaxy has ever seen". Dolash and I both put our species in an area of space that isn't frequently traveled/un-explored (Near the Ssi-Ruuvi Star Cluster for me and in Wild Space for Dolash) and started out with 1 planet. Then we put time and effort into expanding our species "empires". We started out with 1 planet and maybe a couple ships, then did the roleplays to make them stronger.

Roleplays are whats key here. The point of TRF is to have fun and write. Your writing can make your empire stronger. Bypassing that whole making your empire grow isn't fair to those who have put the work in, isn't fair to you as a writer as you miss some crucial times of character development and isn't fair to the reader, as it gives them less to read. You are a good RPer, you just need to become more familiar with TRF and formulate your ideas around TRF's history, not formulate them at odds with TRF's history. You will make mistakes, everyone does.

My real key suggestions:
- Stop all current activities for this Empire
- Sit there and think about everything that has been told to you, think about what you want to do at TRF and what you want for the Atlantean Empire
- Draw out a new plan for the Atlantean Empire and post it in the OOC forum to see what members thing.
- In this plan, have the Atlantean Empire be a reasonable size (1 system)
- Have their fleet be a reasonable size (say 1 ISD sized craft, some support vessels)
- Think up why no one has heard of it
- If you want more than 1 system, put it in the Unknown Regions or something. And say they have control over a sector, BUT, in the planet list, you will only start with 1 planet. Any other planets gained besides that would need a 5000 word RP to go along with it. However, as you are introducing a new empire to TRF, that should be easy.

Example of plan (very rough, very short, some humour added in for veterans):
Name: Snowkan's Empire
Species: Snowkanians
System: We Hate Abolishers System
Sector: TCS Sector
Area of Space: Unknown Regions
Home Planet: IFE
Moons: 2 (Ban Abolishers and Destroy Abolishers)

History:
Snowkan's Empire is the home of the Snowkanians, a humanoid species that likes to eat caek. They control the entire We Hate Abolishers System. Long ago they had some issues with the Abolisher Species, hence the general hatred for them. Suffice to say for now that the Abolishers destroyed much of the Snowkanians. Following that Snowkan's Empire went on a campaign of expansion, building many ships, all around 1000m. They expanded throughout the "TCS Sector" and then to the neighbouring MCR Sector. However then the Abolisher Species came back. The ensuing battles left both fleets crushed. The Snowkanian's decided it was best to stay in the TCS Sector and have maintained a small fleet of 5 of their Corruption Cruisers (1000m things).

I think the abolisher references make that example confusing.

Hold on. I like the "Unknown Regions" idea. I considered that, but, for reasons I cannot explain, told the voice in the back of my head to "SHUT THE HELL UP!" (stupid voice is always right) Anyway, I can rewrite that part. I would still like to keep their Core World at 20 systems, however. The Atlantean fleet, at least in this universe, numbers about 2,500 ships (including the 3 Unyielding Victory-class ships that everyone hates), and they take a very neutral stance in galactic politics. They would rather see the Republic restored to its rightful place as the central, dominant government, and have many key personnel assisting the Galactic Coalition. I can rewrite the history and 5,000 word RP to go along with this idea. Again, most of this is for storyline purposes and not for Fleet Action events. I will start out with only or two ships for Fleeting purposes (probably a frigate or destroyer) and expand from there. That was my intention from the start. I merely mis-interpreted the "Characters and Groups" thread. (there really should be more details, like the example Jan Dondana gave)

So far, the only ship I have any intention of using as a Fleeting ship is the Angelus II, under the "Angelus-class Heavy Dreadnought" R&D thread. I would like some interaction between the Atlantean Empire and the rest of the galaxy, however. They ain't exactly xenophobic . . . in fact, they're very outgoing.

Just a quick question:

Would the region the Empire controls be called the Atlantean Sector? I'll need some ideas. And how would alliances be done?

Again, my intention was not to cause so much disdain and animosity among the RP'ers (although some people in that R&D are real *ssholes, but only a few, the rest have been a big help, especially with their questions on how things work). I really appreciate all the help.

Y'know, taking a stance that affects the galaxy as a whole is a bit different than neutral.

'Oh, we're against the Empire in every sense of the word but we're neutral!'

Sit back, and think of that for a moment before you continue.

FURTHER MORE, TRF works one rewarding groups for history and writing effort and all that jazz. Good on you that you want to create this unique group and blah blah blah, but if you want 20 systems and all these ships, you damn well bet you're writing to earn it. That only what? 100,000 words? Get to it then.

Want to know why? Because if we give slack to one of you, we'll have to give slack to all of you.

And as a final note, you need three members at least before you can start up an official faction with nametags. You can have allusions to this empire if your character is a wanderer, but you can't actually do anything with them.

I'll help with the three member thing if you can wait until after exams are over (a week or so).

Here's a word for you; NO.

You're obviously not taking the time to absorb what is being explained to you.

I would still like to keep their Core World at 20 systems

No.

No.

Given your past examples, I'd suggest you steer clear of Fleeting for more then just a little while.

"SHUT THE HELL UP!"

Yes. Take some time to listen and learn. Then take another swing at it.

A few other notes:
About the key personell helping GC:

Um no. Why? Because nobody, not me, dolash, jan, lance, itar, corise, nobody even remotely involved with GC has agreed with you. From an IC point of view Im sure wed be cool with it but it hasnt happened. You can't just say something

Your 2500 ship fleet:

Even in the past years of fleets at trf which got excessively large, none of them approached 2500 ships and none of them had 3 25 km ships. You have been at trf for 5 days? Written 1 IC post? That entitles you to control a grand total of one ship. Most likely a cheap ass fighter totalling no more than 30 m. Notice 1 ship, 30 m. ICly I dont think anybody controls 2500 capitol ships. TNO might make an argument that they are approaching that number though personally I'd disagree. But thats for another time. TNO has hundreds if not thousands of IC posts supporting in the battlegrounds. They have multiple active members. GC, the second strongest faction also has hundreds if not thousands of posts and multiple active members. Our longest ship is under 8 km(im pretty sure we dont really keep records). Nothing gets done without IC posting. So in a few years, if you have multiple people supporting you and have posted hundreds of times then we'll talk about you having some ships. Granted not 2500 and none are going to be 25 km.

I understand that you have great ideas. Thats fantastic, we need people with ideas. But on TRF ideas aren't worth jack squat without posts to back you up. Go to this address: http://therebelfaction.com/forums/faq.php?faq=therules#faq_rulesintro

Especially read the sections concerning characters and groups.

I like the way I said it better.
