I will edit, I find most of my arguments were based on details that I or others changed or left out and forgot that they were indeed changed or left out of final drafts.
EDIT: My opinions have changed since I said my speech earlier, I was having a bad day.

Now that that's settled, would anyone care to remind me please what a Magpulse actually is?

Ok, thank you. How many of them have you got? 'Enough to last the battle' or are they limited by some sort of constraint? Actually, if they're R&D I can look them up, right?

If they were an R&D, you could.

If they were an R&D you could ask to see the document, and TNO would post it here.
Magpulse is short for Magnetic Pulse, a weapon with ION like effects, I believe. I'm not too sure.

There would have to be a record of them someplace for you to actually use them. Recording their yields, what they can be fired from, their size, effects, ect.
You claim that one shot from a star ship has a 300 meter radius. That is a very powerful weapon to have at hand.
When faced with a weapon that powerful an opponent would of course like to know where the enemy came accross said weapon.
