There was nothing I could do, nothing I could say. I never got the chance. He was gone on Freefall's back before I had even gotten off of the ship. I paid for the ship's docking, even though this was Kamon's ship and his planet. After getting my stuff together, I rented a speeder, and went for a little travelling around the capital city. There was nothing here tha I hadn't seen before. I had used to live here. It was, at one time, my home.

Not any longer, however. Now, this was just one of the many planets that I had been visiting over the last few months. Nothing really special. I sighed as I walked in and out of the random stores, looking for different interesting at and items.

Freefall landed on his balcony and Kamon jumped off. Pushing the doors open, he ran inside and to the cribs. His two children were laying there, playing with their stuffed animals. Kamon smiled at them and looked around for Kate. She wasn't there so he figured she was out working.

Kamon picked up Amarie and held her in his arms. She cooed as he rocked her back and forth. Offering her his finger, she grabbed onto it tightly. He sat on the edge of the bed and sighed. Everything was ok.

Finding myself amazingly bored, I ventured out into the jungle-like forest that dotted themselves across Tholatin. The damp air and the moisture on the ground made my clothing stick to my skin, but I didn't really care. Right now my thoughts dwelled on Kamon, and the amazingly lack of trust that had forged itself between us over the months.

I stopped, and looked up, I had walked all the way to the side of the Tholatin Castle. Looking up at the balcony, I saw Kamon there, probably with his children and Kate. His family. His real family. I turned away, and started back into the forest. Alone.

Don't go Jace.

Kamon had looked down on his padawan just as he was about to re-enter the forest. Kamon didn't want his padawan to wander so far off and in truth he wanted to apologize for this whole thing. It was all his fault in the first place.

I want to talk to you. Come on up.

I stopped short, but I turned and followed Kamon's orders, and I walked up to the balcony where he was stadning. I looked over at his children, and shyed away from them, instead going to the other side of the balcony.

"You wanted to see me?"

I knew what he wanted to see me about, he was going to tell me that I was fired from the Republic and that he wasn't going to bring me to Ossus, and that he wanted me off of Tholatin immediately. I stood there and waited for the bomb to drop.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have let a dream come between our friendship. I guess it just scared me. I'm sorry."

He had sat down on the ledge and looked around. Freefall was circling in the sky above talking with some of the other Monteradons. Kamon looked at Jace.

"Will you forgive me?"

I looked at him out of the corner of my eye, never really making full eye contact. I nodded, but it seemed to be more of an automatic reaction, as opposed to a conscious one. But it didn't matter, it got the point across,

"I think I should be asking you that same question. I mean, your dream, if that's what it was, was real to you, and I don't know what I can say. I mean, I have orked for you for a long time, Kam, and we're friends...but I don't know if I should continue to work with you. I am afraid of what I might do."

Kamon looked up at Jace. This what not what he had expected his padawan to say. Not in the least. This was exactly the opposite of what he wanted to hear. Kamon shook his hea dna watched Jace.

"No. I want you to stay. I'm not letting you leave again. Not this time because it may be for good. I don't want you gone for good."

"I know you want me to stay, but even if that was just a dream, you don't know tht it won't come true. Look at Kyp Durron, he became possessed by Zxar Kun and killed billions of people...what happens if I hurt the babies, or Kate. Or you?"

I shook my head, emotions starting to get the better of me. Strain was starting to show in my voice,

"No, I cannot have that."

Kamon stood and glared at Jace. he couldn't have this talk. There was a lot of trust between the two of them and Kamon had just apologized for breaking it. Now Jace wanted to leave.

"You can't go. I won't let you."
