Home For A Rest

I looked down at the clothes, and slipped into them without much trouble. I was bruised all over, so moving was a bit of a chore, but I used the Force to push the pain aside. I straightened my self in the mirror, and then looked down again, to see if I had forgotten anything. There, on the chair, was a thin metal hilt.

My lightsaber

I lifted it into my palm, and looked it over. It was exactly like I remmbered. This was a great weapon, better then the one that was on my belt now, the one that I had built on my vacation. I smiled to myself, and then stepped outside to see Kamon waiting.

"Yes, I am sorry I missed your wedding. I did get you someting though, while I was gone. Just in case, you know? I'll give it to you later."

Kamon nodded.

"You've been gone for almost a year. I have kids now. Twins in the Force. Sound familiar?"

He motioned for Jace to follow him to the bridge where they sat in two chairs. Kamon looked out the viewport at the whiteness that took it up. Hyperspace was so boring. You could sit there and watch it for hours but always see the same thing.

"Tell me what happened."

"What happened? I found things in the outer rim that I wish I had never seen. Things that have made me think about what I have known, and things that have made me reconsider the Force and what we have been taught about it."

I looked out at the boring sky that was known as Hyperspace as we ploughed through it. I turned back to look at Kamon, and shifted on my chair.

"It isn't that I don't agree with what I've been taught, it is just that I have seen so much more then I knew before. And I can't help but wonder if all these months of training had been for nothing. If maybe we were using the Force in the wrong way. Maybe we should be letting it use us. Maybe there is no darkside; no lightside. Maybe nothing we do matters."

Kamon shook his head and rubbed his temple with his hands. There was a distinct feeling in the air that this was going to be a longer than usual trip. One full of arguements.

"Everything we do matters, Jace. If there was no Jedi, the Sith would run rampant and destroy everything. People everywhere would suffer. My wife and kids would suffer.

"I know you and I both could not stand for that. Your training has not been for nothing. You are strong in the Force. You just have to see that in yourself. You have to believe in yourself before you can become strong."

"If there were no Jedi, there wouldn't be Sith either. If we all figured out what it was that the Force really wanted from us, then maybe we could all learn to get along better then we have been for the last thousand years."

I shook my head as a made a new decision.

"When we get to wherever it is we are going, I think that I would like to speak to the Jeid council. The entire Jedi Council. I am sure that they wouldn't want to talk to me, but after they hear what it is I want to talk about, I think they might reconsider."

Kamon sighed and looked away. Things had changed drastically in Jacen. They had gone from bad to worse. Before he had left, Jace had tried to kill himself. Now things were different.

"That will have to wait. We aren't going to Ossus yet. We're going home first. You need rest. We'll talk more when we get there. I need to think."

Kamon stood and walked out of the bridge. His quarters loomed before him after a minutes brisk walk and he walked in. Laying down on his bed, he closed his eyes and thought.

I felt bad for Kamon, he had a lot to deal with, what with his kids and all, and now all this. But I knew that didn't change anything about the Force, I knew that I was right, and I had to tell the other Jedi as well, so that this matter could be addressed. I watched as he left the brigde.

I wanted to say something, to say anything, but there were no words the I could come up with that wouldn't sound fake or forced. So I waited here until he came back. He wasn't the only one that needed to think.

For all I have done, I have accomplished nothing.

A dark hand slid across Andreas' throat as Kamon walke dinto the room. A cry escaped him as his son's neck was snapped by the dark hooded figure. He looked to the bed where his wife lay. Her neck was slit and she lay dead. Kamon found himself unable to move as the figure picked up Amarie. His only other child and the hooded figure was going to take her away from him.

"NO!"

His hand sent a bolt of Spark of the Lightside into the figure. He dropped Amarie and Kamon ran to catch her. SHe was crying horribly and Kamon rushed from the room carrying his last child away to safety. An aid took her and Kamon turned in time to see a lightsaner come down. It took off his arm just below the elbow. His other hand drew a lightsaber and slide upward cutting a gash across the beasts chest.

The thing staggered back away from kamon and Kamon lungd. His lightsaber shot straight through its heart and out the other side. The body fell limply to the floor and Kamon fell to his knees. Sliding over, he took off the hood and let out a sob.

"Jacen, why?"

He woke up with a start. His hand was on his chest and his breathing was strangled coming rapidly and in short breaths. Trying to stand up, he found that he could not. He fell to the floor and lay there, sobbing into the carpet.

I snapped out of my snoozing, and stood up. Something was wrong, but it took me less then a second to realize it was Kamon. I ran to his room, and knocked on the door.

"Kamon? Open up!"

I knocked again, and tried to use the Force to open the door.

"Kamon!"

Kamon lifted his hand from the door and opened the bolt that was holding it closed. His hand fell back to the floor and he continued crying. It was bad and would only get worse he knew. These things were coming more often.

"Why, Jace? Why?"
