Come now -Germany never owned America. No false claims. Besides, while all this is going on, what do you think I and the New Prussian Empire will be doing? Re-taking Silesia, thats what!

Anywho.... *forces the thread back on her rails*

Obama I think will be better than the last administration, and holds the best chance to restore America's authority as a world power. Y'know, rather than an incompetent world police.

I've read some stupid things in my history at TRF but I think some of the most retarded thoughts ever collected have been present in this thread.

Taja, if I had known you were not American in the first place I would not have said what I did. It is not like I know who everyone is and where they live instantly, so please curb the attitude with me.

That said, I actually agree with you about my country's bad habit of sticking our noses into everybodies business. Granted in some situations it is justified, especially when that useless UN won't act when a rogue country is an obvious threat to not only the US but everyone else. Now I don't agree with are invading of Iraq: while doing such a thing was a 'last option' it was done so under faulty, possibly bogus intelligance. Not to mention many us here think we invaded solely because of the oil and that Saddam and his imaginary WMDs were a smoke screen. However us ordinary citizens and even members of the military often do not know all the details. In the case of the military, they only know the details of the mission they are sent on, not the true reasons behind said mission.

Yes individual military personel have the right to protest an order given by a higher ranking soldier if they feel it is an unlawful one. However they have to be careful about it: if they do not have all the information on the reason for the order, they can get themselves court martialed, perhaps even branded as a traitor depending on the situation. That said, when the order to invade another country comes from the President, protesting that order can be very dicy.

With all that said, the reason I worry about this budget cut is not because I worry about how it will effect our ability to fight wars in other countries. Instead I worry about how it will effect our ability to defend ourselves. Here's a short list of concerns on why:

- We have thousands of illegals crossing our boarders everyday and any number of them could belong to a terrorist organization and Obama will likely give them amesty.
- The Second Amendment is at risk of being abolished and the sale of guns banned completely (which means only the police, military, and the criminals would have guns).
- There's a good chance the Homeland Secruity and Patriot Act, two Acts that have enabled our intelligance devisions to prevent further attacks, would be rescinded.

If the last two happen, the military and police would be our only means of defence. I think you can see where I am going here....

Paranoid? Perhaps, but better to be paranoid and prepared then to not care and wind up hurt, or dead.

PS: if feels good to finally be able to safely talk about such things now that I am no longer in the military....

The US needs to fix itself. Period. Leave other countries to their own devices. If Belgium wants to invade the Congo - let them. I dont remember another nation saying to the US when it invaded Iraq - you can't do that!

War is war. period. When two people fight, you let them fight. You don't step in unless you're the police. And in the global case, the US is not the global police. There are no police. YOU LET THEM FIGHT!

No, back onto topic.

Illegal immigration is a massive problem in the US. When I moved to America I knew English. Would have been rather rude if I had flown into New York and expected everyone to speak German, no? In Germany there is a problem with illegal immigration, too. They are deported. No amnesties, no hesitations, just get on the bus and go back. Period. Legal immigration is fine - but again - LEGAL. Do you know what you call non-legal immigration?

One clue - INVASION

Obama to me seems spineless. When I look at him I see a true politician. He was quite happy to say what needed to be said. But he will not change things. Do you know why? because he wants a second term. You want to elect a great politician? Elect one that wants only to serve one term and while everyone else is out campaigning and forgetting the business at hand or making shady deals for votes, he will be back in Washington working until he's fired. Ah - now that makes sense, doesnt it?

The United States was once a great country. The Americans that fought against my famly members in the Meuse and Argonne were members of a great society, one that was truly brave, patriotic, and loyal. Those who fought later in North Africa and France were their descendents, and they forgot nothing of their traditions. They were still members of a great country. But would war two changed everything. After that, America stopped being a great country for itself and tried to rule the world in a manner far more incisive than ours. We merely paraded our troops and marched against the enemy - you KNEW we were trying to do what we were trying to do. America did it invisively. They created coalitions and alliances and forced its will on other countries by means of grants and supplies and trade agreements. They conquered without blood, and prevailed without honour.

And look at what happened. Barack Hussien Obama, the byproduct of such a nation. And his Islamocracy will commence too. His new Chief of Staff? A man named Rahm.

Hmm.. Food for thought.

Perhaps yer right in 'some' context Taja. We do need to take care of our own problems; we have illegal immigrants to take care of, not to mention many other area's of society that need to be worked on (this political correctiveness crap for example)

So yea, we do need to take care of ourselves. I completely support going back into Isolation and telling every country to 'go take care of your own problems, we have plenty of our own'.

Thats fine and all, but we would need to do some re-structuring before we could accomplish that. We need to make ourselves as self sufficent as possible, and that in turn means getting our needs of foreign resources taken care of domestically.

I think nuclear power is a big part of that.
