Would an 04 Mazda6 for 11,500 be worth getting over one of the other cars in the 6-8 range?

I want to know what the fuck is wrong with a Mazda6 is it's selling for $12 000 with 50 000 miles on the clock... that car should be worth at least $10k more than that. Run a title check and find out if it's an insurance rebuild, as that's the first thing that comes to mind for that vehicle at that price.

Of course, if the deal and the car are legit, take it and run. Awesome car, amazing price. I should buy a couple and resell them up here at a nice profit...

I think I've narrowed my search down to:

Acura CL 3.2
Mazda6 i, Protege5, & Millenia
Mitsubishi Galant

The Acura CLs just look like nice cars, leater interior, etc.

Talking to my Dad he says the Mazda6 i is on consumer reports lists of used cars to avoid, though I'm not sure why. I still have it on there bc I'm surprised I can find them for under 12 and they're a pretty cool looking car.

While I usually don't like hatchbacks the Protege5 seems like a pretty cool car. What do you think about this one?

The Millenia and Galant seem like solid, cheaper alternatives.

If the Mazda6 is legit for that price, go with that. You won't beat the value. Reliability isn't up there with Toyota, but it's good enough. If you go with a Protege, get it in manual. Small cars are so much more fun in stick...

I might have to stick to an auto depending on how the pick up is going to work. Long story short at some point my girlfriend is going to have to drive the car and she doesn't know how to drive a manual.

Tell her to learn. It's your car, no reason you should cave to her for the odd time she needs to drive it. :P

Hah... Ok...

Supposing I could afford it...

Which would be the better deal? The Mazda6 for 12, or this 05 Mazda3 for 13?
