>do a dramatic dive South.
You leap dramatically to the south, and meet a parakeet cage. Connecting with the floor is painful, you shouldn't do such things.
>Hit yourself with your flashlight
Wondering what's coming over you, you smack yourself in the face with the flashlight. It hurts!
>Remember
You remember that you're here to investigate this haunted house.

>Ignore the blobs and investigate the room like inspector gadget.
Wild thoughts race through your head. You decide you need to be more specific about what you're going to accomplish.

>Look carefully at every single object or thing and listen for noises.
Attempting to examine every single object in the room at the same time would result in your eyes spontaneously exploding.
>Search for lightswitch, failing that... light a match.
You march stoically to the south, and search the wall near the door you entered in for a lightswitch. You manage to locate an antiquated round button model, and click it. Impressively, the lights come on.
You are standing in a grossly oversized living room. Near the center is an array of furniture, all but one item covered in sheets. Yards and yards of carpet stretch in all directions, and bookshelves line the walls. At least fifty feet separates the sofas from the walls. There are doors on both the east and west ends, and a large picture window on the far north side.
