Should I destroy the Coalition?

Obviously, I've been keeping a very close eye on this discussion. Most of my talking about it, however, has been confined to small AIM conversations with a few people at a time. I think the discussion here and the discussions elsewhere have settled my own mind on the matter, and what I hear of fellow GCers suggests enough agreement on the subject for me to be satisfied about the following declaration.

The Coalition need not yet die, but it needs work.

Not just planets and an etheral "Economy", but in purpose, construction, and foundation. Maybe IC power needs to be more centralized, or OOC power more distributed. Maybe our objectives beyond "TNO must be destroyed!" should be expanded upon. Maybe a new approach to governing the Coalition and what actually draws them together should be taken.

What I do know though, is that the Coalition isn't hopeless. It isn't failed, and it can still produce interesting stories and challenge galactic superpowers for dominance. One day it'll be stronger than it is now, different, and people will wonder about the time where things seemed so low we considered disbandment. I don't think a project should be abandoned simply because it has become difficult.

There will be many changes to come (probably documented in the Spheres series), and we'll probably sink a lot lower before hitting rock bottom and starting to rise again, but for the time being I stand besides the Coalition as a faction and as a concept, and hope to write for it for a good time to come.

Oh, and on a somewhat unrelated note, I've agreed to evacuate the Eastern Coalition's entire population (those within "BDE" space) and write six planetary takeovers to relocate them out of BDE's way. All this talk of weakness hasn't helped my case with Gue much so I'm pretty much honour-bound to do this or lose another war with BDE.

In my very honest and blunt opinion, keeping what effects to a dead and broken horse alive is not what the lightside needs right now, and it will hinder any efforts made by other groups to change the way the lightside deals with the Empire and how the lightside is represented in this universe. Unless you are planning radical changes, but even so... We really don't have much right now.

I think this is the wrong course of action. But... hey, it's not my choice. Have fun.

It would also depend how TNO chooses to react to your latest attack... the Coalition's death might be inevitable irregardless of what you do.

Hey alot of people have put work into the coalition and it woudl be a shame to throw it all away when it could be saved if some changes were made on many levels. Personally i haven't been around long but to me it would seem liek a waste to destroy the coalition especialy when the future of any other lightside group coudl be just a bad as the Coalitions right now. If that is the case then destroying the Coalition would basically jsut be giving the Empire massive amoutns of star systems, making it even harder to someday dislodge them. (Someone tell me if i sound like an idiot or something).

That's the stupidest thing I've heard lately. Have Gue write the damn takeovers if he wants your damn planets!

Gue seems to forget he left during the last war and the war's finish was scripted by Dolash and Ahnk. As a result, the staff allowed BDE to continue on TRF as a celebration this group's uniqueness as a faction...

But if the old leader of BDE is going to keep pushing his faction to war despite this, BDE will deserve what it gets. If he leaves again during another war that he seems to be starting, we will let BDE be dissolved and smashed beyond recognition by Dolash.

Allow me to note that BDE is supposed to have lost that war and if we were going by old rules, there'd be no BDE left.

So Gue: Stop being an ass. :P

True Blue TNO'er says, "Of course we should dissolve the GC, then we win. And of course we support the idea of a new rebellion because, given the history of the GC, we'll just work our way through smashing that too, and in so doing, solidify TNO as the best, and only power faction on TRF. Yippee for us!"

Discontented GC'er says, "We should break up the GC and start again. I know that we almost never work together now, and that when we do we gripe, bitch and complain without getting anything done, but a new faction would... oh, right. TNO is teh suck!"

Middleman TRF'er says, "Do something, one way or the other. Six pages of OOC babble only proves one thing; we'd all rather complain about the hypothetical rather then do anything In Character. Maybe the GC should be dissolved, maybe it shouldn't. The members of that faction should decide..."

Ahnk says, "Fuck you, assholes. Where's my bitches at?"

Irtar says:

Try to see it my way,
Do I have to keep talking till I can’t go on?
While you see it your way,
Run the risk of knowing that our love may soon be gone.
We can work it out.
We can work it out.
Think of what you’re saying,
You can get it wrong and still you think that it’s alright,
Think of what I’m saying,
We can work it out and get it straight, or say good-night.
We can work it out. We can work it out.
Life is very short, and there’s no time,
For fussing and fighting, my friend,
I have always though that it’s a crime,
So I will ask you once again.
Try to see it my way,
Only time will tell if I am right or I am wrong,
While you see your way,
There’s a chance that we may fall apart before too long.
