As Tex and, Jai went back inside to the dance floor, Tex walked over to the band.

"Excuse me sir could you play something a little faster then what ya been playing."

" Yeah man all the band members, said at once."

A grin spread over Tex's face. <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> I guess I still have that ability to make people sweat when I need too,<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> Tex thought.

Tex walked back over to Jai."Here we go kid," Tex said. Tex pulled Jai in close to him, as he spun Jai around and, dipped her. He smiled and, said " Let the course begin Tex's dancing school is now in session

OOC: *gasp* Tec! Control your dirty mind.

IC: Jai laughed and held onto Tex as he dipped her, "Terex Blair Datoo, so help me if you drop me--"

Jai didn't have time to finish her sentance before Tex pulled her back up, took her by the waist, and spun her; grabbing her hand just before she spun right into the refreshment table. She came back agianst his chest hard and just about got the wind knocked out of her. She looked up at Tex and gave him a slight glare, "You've gotten rusty, Ol' Boy."

"I've only begun to dance, Kid."

Jai knew that look he just gave her, and she prepare for what came next..."Oh, Tex...not that...anything but that. People are already talking. If we Tan--"

"Shut up and enjoy it, Jai."

"But Tex..."

Jai didn't have anymore time to complain, for before she knew it Tex and spun her around and was leading her across the floor as the band broke into "The Tango".

Tex laughed as he saw Jai's eyes bulge.

"Calm down kid, who cares if people are talking? I sure don't. Life's too short to listen to gossip. We've known each other since we were kids. People will always talk; now lets give 'em something to talk about.", Tex said, as he pulled Jai even closer.

They changed direction and Tex lead Jai across the floor. Tex felt everyone else's eyes on him and Jai. "Here we go. One last run of the floor and the songs over." When the songs last note played, Tex brought Jai to his chest gently. As the song ended he lifted her off the ground a little.

<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> We have truly stolen the evening,<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> Tex thought with a smile.

John sat quietly at the bar....watching Jai and tex dance...remembering the last time he had been on that dance floor. It was many years ago, and he focused on that memory....his smile returning as he remebered days of glory long since gone. His eyes closed briefly...and he seemed to simply be facing the pair....his eyes closed....

From a secondary entrance to the room, Jander returned, an almost tangible look of nostalgia emanating from his chitinous facial features. The black-cloaked Gand had slipped away after Jaina and Terex has left the Sabacc game. Like Sheridan, Sunstar was doing a lot of thinking about his past, and he couldn't help but take a trip back to where he'd been the last time he'd made the trip to Naboo. To tell the truth, Jander didn't even remember why he and the others had come here, but like usual it ended in combat. Most things during that period of his life then did, a trend that continued far too often to this day.

He'd seen the fireworks as he'd walked through the streets, and admired them for thier beauty, as he did many other things. But his mind at the time had been on the past. Returning, he saw the dancing. By far, the two smugglers had stolen the floor, and Sunstar made a mental note to remember the moment. A part of his mind wondered about the two of them, Mrs. Darklighter was married, but that thought quickly past. No doubt it was a part of her that was Solo, the scoundrel inherited from her father. He shook his head, and presented a soft Gand version of a lopsided smile.

From across the room he saw John, eyes closed and deep in thought of some sort or another as the man always seemed to be. Ever so slowly, the Gand kept getting stuck in some sort of chit-chat or another with the other party attendees. Finally he escaped the mobs of diplomats, politicians, and press to reach the bar once again. Moving smoothly and silently as always, he took a seat at a stool next to the aged human and waited for his contemplation to end.

Jai had done quite a bit of remembering herself as Tex swung her around the dancefloor. Mainly about when she and Terex were younger, 17 and 19 to be exact. That was the first time she had ever saw him...a lanky, clumsy, lost young man with a bad Datooinian accent and a busted blaster. Even then, with his dirty face and ragged clothes, he had still been able to steal her heart...and make a spectacle of himself by doing it. It seemed like forever since that sweltering day on Corellia....

<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> .....Han, Jaina's father, had sent her down to the public hangar bays, to ask someone for a part for his ship. She was walking out the door, part in hand, when a lanky boy had stepped in front of her. She had hit him square in the chest and gotten knocked backwards on her butt from the impact.

"Hey!", she had growled while getting to her feet, "why don't you watch where your going!?"

The person had offered thier hand, flashed a charming smirk, and then spoke in a painfully hick-like drawl, "Well, Ma'am, I'm awful sorry. I just see'd you carryin' that big ol' hyperdrive part, and thought I might help you tote it whereever you be goin'."

Jai had been much more Solo-ish back then and had simply scoffed, picked up the part, and walked off. ...however, true to form, the annoying boy didn't give up. "Miss? Miss, you sure you don't want no help?"

"I'm perfectly capible of carrying a part that's small enough to tuck under my arm. Look, Kid, I don't know where you came from and what kind of sissy girls you have there, but around here, girls like me can take care of themselves. So buzz off!"

"But...I..."

At that moment, brash young Jaina had pulled her DL-44 BlasTech Modified Heavy Blaster and had it aimed between the young boy eyes. "Listen here, FarmBoy...if you dont--"

"Farmboy?!", he'd said, pushing the blaster away. "I resent that! I am Terex Blair Datoo the Third. Crown Prince of Datooine, heir to the throne!"

A sarcastic Solo glint had passed over Jaina's face, "Oooo...a prince. Hmm, what is this? Casual day?", she teased, motioning to his tattered, dirty clothes.

Terex had looked hurt by that and suddenly developed his own brash attitude, "As a matter of fact, I am a refuge!"

"From what? A bad clothing store explosion?"

The next thing young Solo knew she was on the ground scuffling, scrapping, kicking, punching, and wrestleing with young Terex.

"You'll never survive me, Datoo!"

"You spoke your last, girl!"

"That's Solo to you, pansy!"

"Bring it!"

"It's brought, little boy!"

"Boy?!"

The two continued to growl and gouge, kick and cuss, slap and punch, scratch and scuffle. Until...

"What's going on here??!", a booming, authorative male voice said.

Young Jai stopped immedatly and scrambled to her feet, "Daddy! I..um..."

She would have tried to explain herself, but Terex hadn't stopped fighting and suddenly shoved her hard, knocking her off her feet. Jaina growled and lunged at him agian, sending the two tumbleing to a stop at Han's feet. Han had reached down and grabbed Jaina up by the collar of her shirt, "Settle down, Kid."

"Let me at 'im! Let me go!"

Terex had gotten to his feet, looking even more ragged than he did before. His long blond hair was a mess, his face was bloody, and his eye was black. Jaina didn't look any better. They snarled menceingly at each other as Han spoke, "Jaina Corellia Han Solo, what have you done now?"

"Daddy, I didn't do anything. It was all him!"

Han looked from his young daugther to the young man before him, "And you are?"

Terex turned his glare off of Jaina and onto Han, "Terex Datoo...and Sir, this is all her fault. She jumped me when I was just trying to help her carry that ship part." He pointed at the part on the ground, and he and Jaina both gasped. In the scuffle, the part had been badly damaged, and Han wasn't happy about it.

Terex and Jaina exchanged worried glances and both looked up at Han. Jai was abrutly tossed to her feet and grabbed by the hand, and Terex was suddely grasped by the arm. Both were dragged along back to Jai's home, where Terex was interogated and Jaina was grounded.

In the end, Han and Leia found out that Terex's family, friends, and planet had been destroyed by pirates. Terex had managed to escape with his life in a little X-wing. They decided to keep the young man around until he got back on his feet...much to Jaina's dismay. However, as the days grew to weeks, and the weeks to months, the Solo's liked haveing young, firey Terex around. And when Jaina left home to become a smuggler, Terex went with her...for more reasons than one.

They had been THE team...young, talented, and totally devoted to each other. They had been so young and so in love. What had happened? ....Then Jai remember, Biggs Darklighter the 2nd had happened. Jai smirked in remembering how jealous the young scoundrel-ish smuggler had been of the dashing, chivelrous jedi knight. Biggs and Terex fought over Jaina for months, until Biggs had proposed.

"Why didn't I think of that?" That's what Terex had told Han, and Han couldn't help but tease Jaina by telling her so.

That had been so long ago....or had it? Only 5 years. Not that long really. Yet, now Terex was "Uncle Tex" to her twins...yes....yes, it had been a long time. Too long it sometimes seemed......
<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->

Suddenly it hit her, the song had ended and they had stopped danceing. Tex was smirked down at her with that same smirk he'd had eight years ago. Jai smiled up at Tex, "Put me down, you ol' smoothie."

OCC:I love the history lesson kid.

"With pleasure madam" Tex said with a laugh. " Thanks for the dance kid it was very much like old times. If you will excuse me Jai I need a recharge."

As Terex said that he strutted over to the bar, and ordered another shot. Seeing John and, Jander a few stools down, he picked up his glass and moved down.

"Hey guys one hell of a party we've got here huh. I didn't see you two out on the balcony with the rest of the party goers where ya been?"
  • Posted On: May 24 2002 10:59pm
OOC: Thought you might...and what's with this? Tango and leave? I see. I feel the love. Pfft!

IC: Jai watched Tex strut off. She rolled her eyes and smiled, "Ugh...that man." Next thing she knew she had a hafl-dozen men asking for a dance.

Jai laughed and smiled, "Boys boys, one at a time!"...She would have rather been shooting the breeze with the Tex and the guys, but danceing was just as much fun.

"that dance floor....about 80 years past...." John turned back to look at Tex. the smile flitted across his face once, his eyes studying everyone intently.....

After changing partners about a million times, Jai finally appeared through the crowds as she walked over to John, Terex, and Jander.

"Be glad your men. High heels are evil and a frelling pain to dance in."

Jai plopped down beside Sheridan on a bar stool and let out a relieved sigh.
