Journey to Onderon: The Will of the Force

Luis turned to Dirk, his Padawan, though he did not view him as such, but more of an equal:

"ETA 2 minutes, so prepare yourselves. When we land, we will attempt to infiltrate the facilities. Hopefully, Red team will be there also, we are to support them should they need it. Once we are inside, we should try not to get spotted right away, but make it more of a surprise. Plant the charges in strategic locations and get out as fast as possible. We should try to stay reasonably together, so as not to get lost or separated. If you find yourself seperated, try to contact one of the group, they will come find you"

He siad with a small nod. He glanced at his chronometer. They had less than a minute to go. With a sharp turn he walked back to the cockpit and sat down, extending the wing flaps for atmospheric travel and preparing to enter atmosphere. He flicked on the commlink:

"Red Leader, this is Blue Leader. Katarn? You ready to do this thing?"

He asked, smiling slightly.

Onboard the Storm Shadow. Gahrign System.

"Well, I doubt it matters too much if they know we're there. But let's try to stay low a bit and make the guards work. I don't want to strip them of their duty, heh. Besides, it will be easier to work without them on our tail.

When we get in, spread out just a bit so the explosives will be more evenly planted. If you need help and the other two of us aren't nearby, head towards the Blue Team."

Suddenly, Luis' voice crackled over the commlink. "Red Leader, this is Blue Leader. Katarn? You ready to do this thing?"

Grinning slightly, Kenshin started up the atmospheric travel routine as he replied. "Blue Leader, this is Red Leader. Yup, I think we're good to go."

With that, the Storm Shadow glided downward and disappeared into the atmosphere.

Luis smiled and sat back, grabbing a hold of the controls he slowly piloted his ship down into the atmosphere:

"Roger that, Red leader"

He said, flicking the commlink off again and descending furthur. He could now see Kenshins ship not too far away from the cockpit wondow. It wouldn't be long now. He glanced down, the terrain looked awfully treacherous. Biting his lip he looked for a place to land. He eyed a large patch of flat dirt, behind some jagged rocks. Bringing the Starwinder down slowly, he lowered the landing gear and retracted the wings for landing. The ship thudded gently to a halt on the dry, cracked dirt.

He stood and ran through to the area where the team was gathered. He looked at them, making sure they were prepared:

"Are we all ready? Lets go go go!"

He said, opening the boarding ramp and stepping out onto the ground. He quickly checked he had everything. Lightsaber, charges, thermal detonators. Yup, it was all there. He ushered everyone off the ship and closed the hatch, locking up the ship. He lifted his commlink to his mouth and spoke quietly:

"Red team, this is Blue Team, locked and ready to roll, just give the word"

Aboard the Overlord

Kale smiled at Bannor's renewed enthusiasm. They would need to stay loose and keep good spirits to succeed in their mission. Looking up and to the left, he checked the chrono which shone behind a panel in the hull.

"Well, Bannor, it looks like we have about... ten hours left."

Kale smiled, slumping down a bit further into his seat. As his mind wandered, he remembered the strange dream that Bannor had had only months earlier.

"So, Bannor. Have you come to any conclusions about your dream a few months back?"

Kenshin noticed the landing site Luis had picked out and the Storm Shadow soon landed with a muffled thump not too far from the Starwinder.

As soon as the ship touched the ground, he was up and about passing packs of explosives to Anaran and Alana as well as grabbing a few himself.

Checking that his belt held everything it should, Kenshin grabbed out of a storage compartment an extra lightsaber battery pack. He would have both of his lightsabers with him this mission.

Ushering the other two out onto the rocky terrain, the knight checked all systems, turned them off, and locked the hatch.

His commlink soon crackled and he unclipped it from his belt. Glancing at the unfamiliar terra around him, he raised it to his mouth.

"Blue Team, this is Red Team. Let's go."

Gaghrin

Dirk stood by and nodded as Luis described the mission. A simple hit-and-run... such things were never simple. He took a quick glance around the ship. Luis, of course, he knew as his master, Hanix, he had heard much of and was looking forward to serving with him, Omoi... he couldn't say much about her, save that she was a healer.

As the ship began to descend into the atmosphere, he gripped the sides of his seat. It wasn't that he didn't trust Luis' flying skills, it was rather he always prefered to be the man behind the stick.

The ship came down with no problems, and the Storm Shadow came down nearby. No point rechecking now... the more you fiddled with something the more likely you would be to mess it up.

As the ramp lowered, Dirk jumped off. He concentrated on shutting down links to the force... Sith may be nearby and he didn't want to be the one to give them away. Even as his feet hit the ground his blaster was up, ready to provide covering fire, should it be needed...

Entering the Japreal System-

Rhianna Skywalker sat in the captain's chair in the cockpit of her modified LY-3000 freighter. The Black Pearl- as her ship had been named after a Naishi legend- was nearing the planet Onderon where she was meeting two other groups of Jedi for a mission. Her legs draped over one side of the chair as she watched the starlines through halfclosed eyes.

She had never cared much for hyperspace travel and she cared even less for missions where she had only vague details. When Kale had spoken to she and Odon about the reason they were going to Onderon she had felt that not everything had been said. As she waited for the time to break from hyperspace she felt a nagging feeling that she was walking into a trap.

Had she been alone she might not have been been as concerned, but she had the responsiblity of Lily Bywater. Up until the days before the mission she had only seen Lily around the premises back on Ossus, and though the journey had left them plenty of time to get to know one another- Rhianna had been consumed with that nagging sensation through the whole trip.

The short time since Kale had returned had been filled with far too much of the business matters of the Jedi for them to have really gotten time to catch up more then a few conversations. The years had truly etched Kale from the stubborn boy he had been then to the responsible man he was now. That he was leading this mission gave her a glow of inner pride, he really had matured in their five year seperation.

Looking at the chronometer she realized it would be less then twenty minutes before she would take the ship out of hyperspace. Getting up she went back to the small galley to see if Lily was ready for their descent to the planet.

Lily sat back in the galley thinking about the mission. She was a little nervous about it. After all this was her first mission. She sat there reaflecting on all the training she had done. All the words and teachings of Kamon. All the battle and training exercicses. Then her thoughts drifted to Rhianna. She didn't even know her that well. She had seen her around but never had gotten a chance to talk. Usally Lily would have gone and met her as soon as she had the chance but she was just to nervous about the mission. Right as she was about to get up and go meet Rhianna, Rhianna walked back in the galley.

Lily looked up. "Hi Rhianna. I was just about to come join you. Are we almost there?"

Luis smiled and gave the signal for the team to keep low while they moved, there wasn't an awful lot of cover, save for a few rocks and the odd dead tree. He moved silently behind a large, jagged rock:

"Everybody, cloak your force signatures, we don't want to attract unwanted attention from any Sith just yet. Once we reach the facilities, we may drop our cloaks"

He glanced at Dirk and his blaster and frowned for a second, some habits never die. In this case however, it was a very useful habit, if the Jedi came under fire, Dirk would be able to give return fire. After a moment of visually scanning the terrain that stretched in front of them for Guards he motioned for them to move on.

The facilities were not too far ahead, he could see the smoke rising fron their tall, blackened chimneys as the Jedi proceeded carefully along the treacherous terrian. It was about five minutes before the group reached the large factories of Gaghrin, pressing himself against the wall, he checked around the corner for Guard patrols. He turned back to the group, thier faces seemed eager to continue. He turned to Dirk:

"Dirk, try and find us a way in. Hanix and Omoi keep an eye out for Guards"

He whispered, looking at each person in turn. He lifted his commlink and spoke into it in a hushed whisper:

"Red, this is Blue. We have arrived at the facilities and are infiltrating now. Whats your status?"

Gaghrin

Dirk ran alongside the group as they made towards the facilities. He surveyed the area with the keen eyes of a fighter pilot, looking for anything that would indicate danger. Soon they came up to the dirty old buildings and pressed themselves against the wall.

Dirk nodded as Luis gave the orders. He pivoted quickly and turned around the far side of the building. So far there seemed to be no guards in sight, but neither did there seem to be any way inside. Looking up he saw an access vent a dozen feet above the ground, there were bars over it, but nothing a lightsaber couldn't handle.

Dirk pulled a strong, thin cord from his belt and threw it up wrapping it around the bars. He tested the weight, seemed good...

He lifted his commlink, "Master, I think I found a way in"
