Concealed Boundaries (Dolash)

Dolash just stood there, confused and dumbstruck.

"Uh... Master... what do we do?"

He had no idea what was going on, what he should be doing, anything. Everything was just a jumble of confusion in him, and he flailed erratically about, trying to beat feeling back into quickly numbing limbs.

But he could still sense the same danger his master could, and his instincts screamed at him to run like the wind.

"Come, I'll explain along the way, head for the building."

Despite Donovin's quick pace, Dolash seemed to keep perfect stride with his Donovin's own form, neither Jedi having to stop and wait for the other as they made their way toward the facility.

".. There is some sort of triggering device inside the structure. It's set to detonate in less than five minutes. That's not enough time for us to head for safety, we're going to have to go in, try and find the device and disable it all within less than five minutes."

Dolash was deliriously confused, but followed his master nonetheless. What was that shadowy thing? What is this installation? Why is it going to blow up?

But he had no time to reflect on this, so he kept running along with his master. The first obstacle was the door, which was magnetically sealed. Donovin had his lightsaber, but who knows how long it would take to burn through it. Dolash reached forwards with both clawed hands, clamped down on the edges of the door, and with an all-mighty tug, ripped the door clean from it's hinges. The weight was immense, but he kept his balance and set the door to one side. The first thing they both felt was the onrush of warm air, which was a relief to their cold limbs.

"Not exactly elegant" admitted Dolash "But it worked. Where will this detonator be, master?"

Donovin couldn't help but let a light chuckle escape from him as he looked to the Azguard.

".. No clue.. but.."

Donovin raised his left hand, coming to make a gesturing jab outward with his left index finger toward the dwelling they were now standing within.

".. we can find it.. just will require a little searching, is all. Search out with your mind, just like I taught you. If we search together, we're bound to find it..."

There was an awkward moment of silence as Cole kept his gaze upon Dolash. He spoke again, answering the azguard's silent inner question.

".. Yes, how to search for something you don't know how to find.. easy.. it'll be an active force, lively, as it is still functioning.."

Donovin retreated his gaze from Dolash to glance about the facility. Nothing around the immediate area seemed to be actively running in use, at least by first glance, anyway.

He gave a silent nod toward Dolash and then proceeded to clear his mind to focus on finding the detonator, expecting Dolash to try and do the same..

Dolash closed his eyes. But silencing thought wasn't easy. Two different minds each had to cooridnate their efforts to not think, and that meant they had to think to each other. Eventually, everything quieted down, and he tried to focus.

Though his eyes were closed, he could see. This sight was not from his eyes, it flowed from other senses. But it was hazy, and faint. His masters' example, however, was a good one to follow, and emulating him he was able to grasp this skill. Why he was here, what this place was, who the shadowy figure was is irrelevent at this point, he merely focused, and searched.

He didn't recognise most of what he saw, and his masters' vision guided him. The explosive was difficult to find, he had to pass over each object in turn. Several times he thought he'd seen it, only to be dissapointed and find a lamp or a data-pad.

Finally, moving near the far end of the building, the far-sight came across an oddly shaped object. He'd never seen it before, and it counted ominously down. It was no clock, and its' inner workings were complex to say the least.

"That must be it!" Dolash cried, and he lost the train of farthought. Rashly, he hurried into the complex ahead of his master, determined to stop the device.

Donovin shook his head roughly once, trying to restrain himself from reprimanding the Azguard. As sufficiently as he could, Donovin bolted after Dolash...

Stepping into the complex the Jedi reached no more than three feet into the building before things began to go horribly wrong.

The ceiling of the building began to cave in, and not of Donovin's own knowledge, a set of rather large spikes protruded out of the ground out of Donovin's view far up ahead of him.

The man let an audible strained sigh escape his lips as he quickly looked about the establishment, searching for Dolash as well as a means of safety.

Looking around, his gaze eventually found a strange panel implanted a foot or so away from where he stood. The panel appeared to have been depressed. It was not long before Donovin found himself feeling aware once more, piecing the scenery before him together.

.. Some sort of triggering mechanism.. but how to stop it...

As Donovin continued to look about, ducking for cover every now and then as he searched for something to cease the triggered panel, his mind searched for Dolash, hoping that the padawan was safe and that he had reached the detonator.

Dolash.. be careful! I suspect that there are many triggering devices about the building. Be careful of where you step and what you touch.

Dolash heard his master's message, but he seriously doubted he'd heed it, not that it was his choice anymore. As things began to crack ominously and spikes began to fly, Dolash's brain spiked suddenly, as the right-side took over. It had left Dolash to his own devices until now, but sometimes a klutz is not an ideal person to be when avoiding sharp objects.

Drawing on the force, a real strain still but getting more comfortable, Dolash put on a burst of speed, deciding he'd probably already activated any traps and now will have to run full-tilt. The thing he had seen was getting closer, but there were still many lengths of corridor between him and it. A metal spike jutted out suddenly from the ceiling, and Dolash whacked his head into it. He stumbled, and fell. But just as quickly, he was back up again, trying to keep to his feet.

Finally, after several more-near disasters, he leapt through a pair of closing magnetic doors, rolled, and stood in an infirmery room. Something on the table was ticking. He grabbed it, and gave it a good look.

It was a toaster with a clock on it.

Not a detonator.

Crap.

Trudging through whatever remnants that still appeared to be left of the crumbling facility; Donovin continued to search on, looking for a supposed adequate solution.

There would be no one to help see Donovin through his rough terrain. Unfortunately, the same could be said for the Azguard. Nonetheless, Donovin was still counting on Dolash to find the solution for both of them, believing that the padawan was in a better position to set the situation right.

Crapcrapcrapcrapcrapcrap...

What in the hell was he supposed to do with a toaster-thing? Dolash hurled it against the wall in panic, and his thoughts broke down into a gooey jello-like substance. What did this little walk even have to DO with Jedi training? What was he learning besides complete and utter fear and panic? He had to pull himself together and act fast.

One pulling-of-self-together later, Dolash concentrated once more. This time, his master was not there to guide him, and his search came out jumbled. Everything was blurry and unclear, it was hopeless.

A wall-panel nearby blew off and went flying towards him. He ducked, and it sliced into the wall. He didn't have much time, whatever was going on it seemed prepared to tear down the building long before the explosion went off. He concentrated once more, forcing his thoughts into harmony, but once again everything came apart. A sharp pain stabbed into his head as a blood-vessel exploded somewhere from too much concentration.

Too much concentration... thought the left half of his brain. That's it! Grabbing control of the body once more, Dolash's left side immeadietly had the body go limp. He stopped focussing, stoped thinking, just plain stopped, even as metal whirrled dangerously about him. The only thing he did was call on the force.

And it responded. It worked without his imput, he didn't have to force it. He let it flow through him, work for him, and the facility came into focus. Casting a force-eye across the building, he saw what he was looking for, the detonator.

Opening his eyes, he drew his sword and with an almighty swing cut a hole into the wall. Leaping through, he pressed through the facility at full tilt. Letting the force flow through him, he jumped jagged metal, dodged loose bolts flying free, and ducked beams of metal that came out of the wall. Kicking down another door, he rolled into what appeared to be a lab. Grabbing a ticking black device covered in wires from the table, he hurled it to the ground and stamped it into oblivion.

The ticking stopped. He breathed a sigh of relief. Then a jagged iron girder came loose and shot through his left leg.

Cursing followed.

Yanking his leg painfully from the twisted metal, Dolash screamed in horrendous pain. He began to limp painfully out of the facility, which was in a horrible state and was getting worse. Finally, he collapsed on the floor of a corridor, unable to go any further. He poured all his concentration into one thought which he hurled towards his master at full speed.

It pleaded for help, any help, which Cole could provide. But Dolash's eyes were darkening, and he could concentrate no further.

Finally, and to his great surprise, a steel wall ahead of him seemed to melt quickly away. There was Cole, shouting something incoherent to Dolash. His hearing was rather faint, but he knew what the outstretched hand was for and grabbed ahold. With a pull, he was brought up to shoulder height with Cole, who seemed to draw great strength from the force to be able to lift such a heavy burden at such a pace.

The two made it out of the facility as the doorway was crushed by a loose panel. Lying in the snow, breathing painfully and heavily, Dolash turned to his master, and gasped out a thanks, before his vision went. He had lost a lot of blood, and now lay unconcious in the snow.
