It's not really practical to deport 10 Million Illegal Immigrants or whatever. I think Illegal Immigration should be stemmed but deporting all the current illegal immigrants isn't a good policy either. If you want to stop illegal immigration withdraw from Iraq, put the troops on 8 hour shifts and you could have one like ever 100 m along the border. Not that I favour withdrawing from Iraq.

As for learning English. I don't think that you should be like you MUST learn english. US and Canada are countries of immigrants. As such they are made up of a number of diverse racial groups each of which to some extent would like to retain their own culture. Should children be instructed in English? Yes. Should proficiency in English be a requirement to immigrate? No. But them just be my thoughts.

The long term, cheapest soultion... Annex mexico... we go Almo revenge on it and claim it for the United states. South to North Manifest Destiny. When everyone in Mexico is an American citizen, the only illegal immigrants will be from south america, which has an infinantly smaller land border to patrol.

I forgot to add this to my post last night. The US needs to be very, very firm with Mexico. Fix. Your. Problems. If your people are running across the border by the hundreds every night something is very very wrong.

Like Mexico being fucked up and corrupt? Yeah, they definately have issues.

The only problem is is that Mexico, being a third world nation, is right next to a 1st world nation, and of course people would rather live and work in the 1st world nation than the 3rd world nation. We just need to lay one huge minefield stretching across the entire border.

But yeah, a big fence that goes down into the earth to help prevent tunneling would do a bit. And some more troops or something on the border.

I support keeping more illegal immigrants out, but for the ones who are in, let them apply for papers that make them legal or they get deported. Like give them 6 months or something to file for the papers, that way they can't complain. While this might not affect the ones in gangs and stuff, they probably won't get the papers, it will get a lot of the illegal immigrants legal and then you have to just worry about stopping more illegal ones out and get the cities to actually start deporting the illegal immigrants they do catch for even the smallest charge. Which will help you get rid of the remaining illegal immigrants

For the US they should have to learn English as well, English is the national language for your guys, you live in the country, you speak the language.

Kraken's right about the reason for immigrants coming to the US. Plus most of the corruption in Latin America is caused by the US's complicity with and support of murderous corrupt regimes mostly because they're right wing and it would be horrible to have a left-wing government in Latin America. The result is being seen today with the many many left-wing governments being elected on anti-american platforms because those people are tired of being fucked over.

Also as per my previous plans of stationing soldiers from Iraq on the Mexican Border. It would also cut down on drug smuggling too.

The U.S. Navy is already doing a decent job cutting down on drug smuggling, but of course that's just on the water. I have an idea, why don't we just deploy the National Guard to the border? What's the point of having a self-defense army if we don't use it to keep people from illegially entering the country.
