I saw EP III while here, and thought it was pretty awesome. Of course, you knew what was going to happen, wich made it a little less exciting.
Obi-Wan shoulden't have assumed the Anakin was dead, though. He should not have let Palpatine have Anakin. That was by far my biggest problem with the movie. Why didn't HE pick Anakin up and put him in some suit? If he had, he could have at least prevented him from being Darth Vador, if not turned him back to the light side.
Otherwise, the whole thing was quite cool. The sith practically quoted George Bush. "If you aren't with me, you are my enemy". Ol' Lucas has quite the guts.
That was just dumb. But the dialogue was excellent. It made up for the other stupid lines they tossed in there.
Exactly. OMGWTF??!!!
Battle droids also shouldn't be conversing with one another like dimwitted stormtroopers.
I have to agree because they didn't show enough of him and his mad skills. They pretty much rushed the character and offed him to continue with the story, which irritated me. I personally liked him much more than Dooku. At least he put up a better fight than Dooku.
I couldn't agree more. Hell, I write a better Grevious than he does. Hell, I think all of us here write better stories than GL.
Greivous is awesome in the novel... I was hugely disapointed with him in the movie. As proof that George is not (unfortunately) any sort of decent writer, I found the book much more captivating in terms of dialouge than the movie.
Example: When Palpatine admits to being a Sith Lord.
Movie: Anakin: "You're a Sith Lord" Palpatine: "And?"
Book: Anakain: "You're a Sith Lord" Palpatine: "Yes, I am. I am also your friend."
It's not just a matter of one sounding better, either. They present different characters. In the book, I could see Anakin falling. Palpatine was crafty and subtle. In the movie, he basically said "Join the Dark Side" a bunch of times and Anakin did it.
Also, I hated the droids. All of them. The battle droids acting like two years olds (honestly, would you program your armies to feel FEAR?). R2 defeating two Super Battle Droids? Droids conversing like humans?
WTF?
Other than the dialouge (terrible almost all the way through) and the acting (how George can destroy such talent I don't know), it was a good movie. But it wasn't really Star Wars... tweak it a little, and you have a generic Sci-Fi action movie like the countless others churned out by Hollywood.
Stop crying you bitches. I enjoyed it because I enjoyed it as a movie and not what should have been a fucking culmination of your geekish desires. If Lucas had catered to the hardcore, nobody who hadn't fucking researched Star Wars would understand anything and he wouldn't make money. Screwing him out of millions of dollars because "OMGWTF THIS WASN'T EXPLAINED GOOD!!!111!11oneone" is just retarded.
I'm amazed that there isn't any topics dissecting each and every detail of the final installment of the greatest saga ever. At least not that I've seen..
Anyway I'm curious to see what everyone else thinks about the movie. I suppose I can expect some hate filled replies from here on out.
I personally, having seen the flick twice now, think it was awesome. It didn't answer every question I had but that's good, leaves room for the imagination to wander. Who cares if I don't know where Yoda came from right?
There were funny moments in the movie.. mostly involving R2-D2 fucking with Super Battle Droids. There was at least one shocking moment in the movie... "Master Skywalker we can't fend them off all by ourselves"... we all know what that lead to. Watching Order 66 being executed was also a strange feeling.
All in all this movie was pretty damn good, I'm sad to say that the saga is over but I'm happy to say that the circle is now complete.
