I probably won't see it till it goes onto video or DVD... :b

I'm gonna go see it at the Embassy (biggest screen in the southern hemisphere, if I remember correctly form the Return of the King world premiere hype) but I haven't got my tickets yet. Gonna go buy 'em tomorrow, probably see it next week sometime. I can wait.

It can be summed up in one word.

Not really. Neither was Lord Vader, apparently.

Some day I will be flying (either this week or next, or some other week after) to my parents. At which point, we will stand - either in line or no - for about an hour before actually buying tickets and seeing the movie.


It's a tradition. Sort of.

I liked the movie, but there were alot of questions with it.


1. The absence of Mon Mothma

2. Yoda mentions being able to talk to Qui-Gon, but we never actually see him.

3. Palpatine. If the lightning was messing up his face and hurting him, why didn't he stop shooting it out of his fingertips?

4. Obi-wan cutting off both of Anakin's legs and an arm in one swipe while he was twisting in the air...

5. Padme dying in childbirth. wtf?

6. Palpatine easily being able to dispatch three Masters in five seconds, but can't handle a one-on-one with Windu, or Yoda for that matter.

7. Not explaining why Yoda chooses Dagobah as his hiding spot. Or not even seeing him go there.

8. All this hype about Chewie being in the movie, and we only see him for like eight seconds.

9. All this hype about the Wookies being in the movie, and the Battle of Kasshyyk getting only a few minutes of screen time.

10. Count Dooku gets whacked early in the film, and Anakin doesn't even break a sweat doing it. So much for Dooku being some big powerful Sith Lord.



*sigh*

1) So? She probably just doesn't become an active partaker in the Rebellion until later. She was always a boring wench anywho.

2) He's not a ghost, merely his voice can be heard, like Obi-Wan does at the end of ANH. That is why Qui-Gon doesn't disappear, and it is from him that Yoda and Obi-Wan learn of this ability and spend 20 years perfecting it so that their bodies become one with the force as well.

3) IMO Palpy could have taken Mace and he was putting on a show to get Anakin to make his move. He wasn't hurting that badly, and it wasn't that the lightning was burning him or anything, merely that he was really tapping into his darkside powers and his true form was revealed. He was fine and could have taken Windu. You might even go so far as to say that he could feel Anakin was coming so he let his lightsaber be lost to look like Mace was going to kill the un-armed, helpless Chancellor. Of course this is all speculation and I don't know it for a fact.

4) Yeah. That part was dumb. And the whole "I have the higher ground, its over" crap. Sillyness.

5) Also very stupid. "she has lost the will to live" lol omg wtf.

6) See 3. Also everyone knows Mace is more hardcore than the other Jedi because he is black.

7) Yeah I was thinking they could have included something about the planet having a strong connection with the force or something or showing him go there. Perhaps they did, because I read something about a concept sketch showing Yoda surveying his new home, but it had to be cut for time. Remember there's a lot of stuff they originally plan to show in the movie that they just cant.

8 and 9) Yeah... it was cool to see the wookies and see Chewies goofy pidgeon-toed gait, but it seemed like they just threw this little side scene in there to make fans happy and left it at that.

10) I was expecting Dooku to get pwned so no surprise here. He's a wanna-be.


Another thing that will probably be discussed by fans is the fact that characters are able to just travel across the galaxy what seems to be a few minutes. People are darting about here and there and back again in no time, completely throwing time out the window.


It was odd how in some scenes the dialogue was really strong and convincing and the acting was great and then in others you just cringe. I don't understand how George can be so good at making the scenes that matter excellent, but then the minor scenes you just go "did he really say that?".


I was really feeling Anakins slow turn and Palpatines deception working for the first half of the movie. I was like "yeah, ok, I'm feeling this, I get it, it's plausible, this is great". All the way up until when Anakin kills Mace. I felt it. But then it was just like all of a sudden Palpatine makes him Darth Vader and I was like... whaaa? Too sudden. They should have tried to work it so this happened later in the film. Anakin shouldn't make the full turn and accept himself as Palpatines Sith apprentice just yet, IMO.


Oh yeah and when Vader was being raised on his mechanical bed I couldve sworn Palpy was going to yell "It's alive!!"

I hath returned from Episode 3, and I'm incredibly stunned, we even got an opening and closing round of applause.

The film was exceptional, considering the last two efforts, and was tremendously paced and hardly let up from the beginning.

I'm now doubly frightened of our own General Grievous, but I was half expecting him to shout out " I vant to suck your bloood, blaaaah!" at any given moment.

Palpatine's fight with Mace harkened back to the good ol' paced swordfighting of the originals and was a welcome change of pace which, whether deliberate or not, seemed to work.

The slapstick comedy at the beginning didn't quite work for me, although I can see how it establishes the buddy nature of Anakin and Obi-wan's relationships, as well as bring the audience up to a joyus height before plunging them with Anakin's gradual downfall.

Speaking of which,Anakin's christening after the death of Mace window did seem slightly rushed, but was a minor niggle.

I didn't really give a toss about chewie's part in the film, since he'd hardly contribute anything noteworthy other than some grunts and growls, so keeping his part short worked for me at least.

The parrallel execution of Order 66 was a cracking piece along with the subsequent back and fourth montages of the Jedi Slaughter.


The few niggles and Natalie Portman's acting aside, the film exceeeded all my expectations and for once with the prequels, I was able to invest my emotions in an evocative story for a change.

Bravo George, we wont be mailing you that letter bomb after all.
