While were discussing Black Holes, let's bring up another issue. The use of Dark Matter to conceal a planet, ala Zonama Sekot. Would this be considered more canon bullshit, or could this be used to hide planets TRFly as well?
Heck, if we're yanking out that, perhaps we should allow for discussion of all space anomalies, such as nebulae, comets, shattered planets, etc.
On the other hand, perhaps that is a seperate discussion. Perhaps once the issue of space stations is adequetly resolved, we could move on to these others?
Yes the black hole is being used as a shield for the planet.
But no, the Union is not trying to make enemy ships hyperjump into a black hole.
Yes there are other methods for hiding planets... but we chose to employ this one. Estro thought it would be a cool idea. I liked it. He wrote a long RP detailing the locating of the planet, construction of facilites etc.
Quote me on this:
Unless someone specifically states that they are jumping through the black hole (why they would do so, I don't know) then any hyperspace entry will be assumed to be coming from the correct vector.
Granted this shouldn't be a problem at the moment, as the world is hidden, but It might arise in the future. We are not looking out for a technicality. I understand you need to prevent something cheap like that from occuring. We simply wanted a different environment for our hidden base.
They're anomalies in the sense that I have no idea what would happen if you flew a star destroyer into a nebulae. Would it have a strategic advantage like blocking sensors and line of sight? Would it perhaps cause interference with communication? Or would the ship just melt and explode?
Plus, are there really fields of rocks and asteroides and such like in star wars? Perhaps around destroyed planets there would be? Like Peragus or something?
There are indeed questions of these nature to be clarified, because as it stands space as a battlefield is akin to a vast, empty, totally flat plain. Perhaps the addition of a few features would enhance it.
Those are issues that will either enhance your rp or not while you rp. I guess it just depends if stuff like that is mentioned or not during your fleet rp.
meaning: there's not going to be a rule on them or anything. heh
I have to remember that your not really advanced at Fleet RPing or apparently Astronomy before I continue. You have to remember that a Nebula is basically a gas cloud, so depening on what the gasses contain, it would block sensors, definitly interfere in line of sight, interference in communication, it would not cause the ship to explode, mainly because even if someone hit it with a turbolaser blast, there would be no oxygen for the gasses to ignite.
Yes, there are fields of rocks and asteriods. You should know, you are taking one over right now. Asteroid belts, rings, etc. Take for example, the Hoth Asteriod Belt, the Roche Asteriods, the Bridge, etc.
Just ask me any questions you have and I will do my best to answer them.
