Consider this - joining the Empire?

It occured to me recently that perhaps the Coalition should give up and join the Empire.

I mean, think about it; The Empire isn't inherently evil any more, since people like Kaine run it. People who actually believe the propaganda of the Empire and thus people who will actually do the things originally put in as promising lies. A complacent Empire would probably be less harmful then galactic civil war.

Admittedly, this isn't exactly the ideal world of Viryn Quell, Regrad, Jan, or Fraktusk, but it'd be a better one, probably. The anti-alien stance is fomulated around the fear that aliens are more likely to aide enemies of the state. Originally this was a racist policy and the defence thing was an excuse, but now people like Simon actually believe that it's all about defending themselves, so if I took away the excuse they'd probably cut back.

That's the sort of thing that's making me think that Regrad should abdicate and turn over control to the Empire. Roleplaying in a united galaxy would be more fun and a change of pace anyways - more room for force users. I wouldn't have to worry about conflict or fighting with other roleplayers, no slow depressing slide into darkness, this really does look like the best option.

I know, fellow Coalitioners, it seems a bit grim, but let's be realistic, shall we? We want to do what's best for the galaxy, I think this is it. If we surrender effectively, I bet there wouldn't even be any serious reprecussions. It is, I think, the best solution.

And I don't think immeadietly afterwards rebellions should leap up and heroes should emerge, why don't we all try working together for once? Internal reformers, political intrigue, there's plenty of plot there to keep us all busy. Besides, the Empire is much more detailed then the Coalition and makes for a better writing environment then my sterile government. There's so much more character and conflict in the Empire, something much more interesting about it.

So to sum up, I think the New Coalition should perhaps join the Galactic Empire, on the grounds that it would make for both a better writing environment and also especially because it seems to fit the desires of everyone's characters - a bit of compromise, as I get peace and you get order.

Any thoughts? Obviously, I haven't discussed it with Simon or anyone, but I'd love to hear your opinions.

Or, say, you and me could switch places for about a month and see how we like it in each other's boots before you go off and make a decision.

I don't see how that would help. I'm more or less familiar with the Empire by now.

...

Bad idea.

I think this seems to be more of an OOC thing rather than IC Dolash.

If you are personally fed up with it, then fair enough, I can understand it...but IC your guys are against the Empire for legitamite reasons, because its evil, because its a dictatorship, because of its atrocities.

IC you can't expect everyone to just turn around and say, you know what, they aren't so bad after all...lol

If you personally are fed up with it, well thats different, and if you wish to do a little evil go ahead, thats your Rp'er porogative...

*laughs*

oh the irony...

Oh no, this is pretty much IC. Admittedly, I don't like clashing with the Empire, but then again, neither does Regrad. He does it because he thinks he has to to put an end to the atrocities and dictatorship, just as I thought I had to - but what just occured to me could just as easily occur to him. Also, although difficult, it is neither unforseeable nor impossible for the Coalition to join the Empire logisitically - heck, even peacefully. Think of how many populations, how many patrotic, proud, noble, purposeful populations whom have tasted freedom - the Empire has broken before? It's hardly been five years and already the people on Corellia and Coruscant appear to have forgotten there was ever a New Republic. It occured to me that if they don't have enemies, there will be no more need for such savagery, and thus, everybody wins.

It could happen any number of ways, as many unusual mergers have in the past. Anyways, it is the earliest shade of an idea, it's not like I'm here to tell you what's happening. But I still think it's the right one.

And so I'd have to found the Raioballo Republic. The last standing bastion of the Light Side... that'll probably be snuffed, crushed, removed, and Irtar'll be lynched. But it'll be worth it to give the Lightsiders somewhere to stay!

I, personally, would find that hilarious. Demos would have a hissy fit, with no one to crush into oblivion. The Empire would collapse in on itself, without anyone to fight. London would be drowning, and we'd all be living by the river.

See, all your doing is believing the hype, just because the Empire says its that way doesn't mean thats the case, in fact we all know its not, given a choice most people who have experienced freedom, don't give it up easily, and it would be a mistake for the Empire to assume that.

It occured to me that if they don't have enemies, there will be no more need for such savagery, and thus, everybody wins.

Thats just nieve, heh, The Empire will still carry on what its doing , ie killing off / neutering aliens, etc...

...but this time unopposed.

This brings out only one thought out of me. If the Coalition merges with the Empire there would be no freaking way my characters on Trandosha would join up with them. Naosha and her fellow Counsolers are against joining any shade of the Empire: they want to move forward, not backward.

That being said, if you and your characters in the Coalition want to go 'buddy buddy' with the Empire that's your choice, but you can't realistically expect the rest of the active members (and potential members) to go along with you.
