Given Ahnk and Gue have both a better understanding, and that in their long relationships with Omnae - take it as read on their part that what Om postulates, predicts or otherwise enacts is accepted by them.
Knowing this, understand that a vote was called and the majority of the community consented and, as described in various threads (namely this and another) Omnae has already warned that, given carte blanche, he is going to do what he has already done.
That said, take his "theme" as you would the word of a Game Master in an old-style table-top role playing game, which is to say, the word of god. Questions = welcome where they expound upon what Om has written/will write. Questions = not welcome where they are constructed to cause conflict, or otherwise counter what Om has already put down.
Everyone seems to be on board, which is good. But just as a warning to anyone who might try and bicker (Ahem, Seth you cockney bugger you!) and has not the authority of being a demi-god (Ahem, Seth you demi-god bugger you!)... don't!
I'd have to disagree there and say, actually if said techs are used within the RP, with your permission, then I'd say there's a case for someone being able to take advantage of it.
I don't have all the answers on the Reavers. They were just something new to stick into TRF. Alot of details will come from you, the writers and rp'ers in other threads after Cataclysm. Suffice to say that relationshis with any world in Reaver Space will be different than relationships with worlds outside their space. The idea was to leave the idea open-ended so others could enrich upon it.
You could blame Corise for helping give me the idea of the Reavers by showing me the Alliance rp's of a certain "Mr. Universe". The Serenity connected helped formulate in my mind what to do with the Dracconis of BDE.
Seth - I have to agree with Ahnk and respectfully disagree with you.
Cataclysm was not meant to be a vehicle for R&D stealing but a venue to change galactic circumstances. I could have easily, instead of using the Cree'Ar, used the Kashan to attack everyone to change the circumstances and what? Open his techs to reverse engineering?
This isn't about helping factions get the jump on others by seizing their techs. I'd like to think that those faction leaders put a certain amount of trust in me to tell a story that remains true to their written ideologies, themes or cultures as they wrote in previous roleplays. If I failed in any way in that regard, the error remains mine.
However, I would not presume to abuse that trust by saying, "Because I wrote this, you get stuck in the arse like this."
You can choose to roleplay Cataclysm out or you can choose not too. Corse, for example, seemed to mop everything up in one post and that is fine. I take that to suggest he really did not want to roleplay an assault on his homeworld which is fine. But that also means he will not be allowed to take advantage of any opportunities Cataclysm provides in seizing worlds and whatnot.
It is situations in which you cannot have carried your way entirely.
The question has come up to what exactly the Reavers are using for BDE techs and the like. As suggested in the thread, Reavers will use pretty much whatever they can get their hands on, which at first would consist of older and conventional Tion/Farfalen ship techs, then expand as they absorb ships from other factions, etc.
A good starting point though on what they are using right now;
No really, I'm not quite done with that, there was going to be some flashback stuff dealing with that and some familial relationships. But time is at a premium for me right now, so I may have to leave it at that, for now. And by that, I mean the Cree'Ar at Kashan.
The food crisis is definitely not resolved; I have a lot to do with that now, and with Lance's post too apparently...
No rush, Corise. Ahnk and I were talking and wondering about the single post 'mop up' when the attack really hadn't even gotten started yet.
I thought that perhaps you just didn't feel like rp'ing it and so wrote it as you did.
Cataclysm is not just about what happened, it left off with what his happening now... which is the attack on Kashan...which, evidently, you mopped up and ended.
There is no time rush here to keep Cataclysm going as there will be several plots going at once, each on their own time schedule.
