I think it gives the galaxy a good OT feel. Bands of Rebels fighting for the light to restore freedom to a galaxy in the grip of a heartless evil Empire.
What should be important are the stories you tell and your development as a writer.
I look at this stuff more as practice than anything else, but I know everyone takes their hobbies to different levels.
The difference with the books and the movies though, is that there wasn't another, better writer sitting opposite who was trying his best to beat whoever was writing as those rebels. The Rebels won because they would always have whatever plot device they needed to win. Drayson would go apeshit if I tried to take out the shields protecting the deathstar with a surprise ewok attack, insisting his forces would be more than capable. And not even Lando Calrissian would be allowed to blow up the Death Star at TRF. As for Darth Vader killing the Emperor? Simon wouldn't make that mistake, he would have had Luke gassed to death on the way up the elevator shaft.
Maybe I'm just a bit depressed, and it'll blow over tomorrow and I'll be back to writing. Thanks anyways.
Your the one that insists on trying to RP against the Empire. TNO leaves you largely alone to pursue whatever more posititve plots you want in your space.
Yeah, sure, so you say. But I don't doubt you've got your own plots to overthrow the Coalition. Project Insidion, although being used in the fall of Kaine thread, also seems to be a plan that might occur in the regular timeline too. Even if I did nothing you'd come after me eventually, and you can't honestly expect me to be a good nation AND turn a blind eye to the massive evil empire right next door?
I have to agree with Dolash and Maim, in the real world moral corruption runs rampant through society. When the chance of heroics in the real world comes to act as a hero, people don't do it unless expecting reward or respect, nt out of the good of their hearts. However as Dolash said and has made a strong and convincing arguement, this isn't the real world it is Star Wars role-playing and I (if you want it) would like to lend a hand to you Dolash.
I've decided I'm not really cut out for TRF. Whenever I interact with other people here in roleplays, I piss them off, and I realize it's really my fault and to be honest I'm whiney.
