He was late all right, he'd missed the entire wedding, and not of his own fault.
What was he to tell Kamon?
Quite possibly the truth...
... That a ghoulish looking figure went chasing after him and practically near killed him.... That even his attempts at a counter guard had not done him one bit of good because his attacker seemed to be immune to his displays of action.
He'd not caught his face, not even a glimpse. His voice, now that seemed to ring a bell to the Jedi Master.
He'd heard the attacker's voice only once, but he recognized it from a previous encounter.
Cole had been with Kenshin at the time, the two Jedi had gone off to retrieve a lightsaber that Cole had made for the other Jedi. He'd planned to simply give Kenshin the saber and promote him by way of permission of the council, yet it had all turned into so much more than that.
He had thought he had heard the last of whatever had made him go blind. The blindness had been short lived; yet the memory of the encounter had not been.
The darkness that he and Kenshin had met up with was unlike any other he had felt before. Whatever it had knew what it had wanted and had obviously come back for more by way of Cole.
He'd left this second encounter with a confused mind, same as with the first encounter. What made the second encounter so different was that Cole had practically got himself killed.
His saber, it had been completely useless to him. He deflected any of the attacks brought onto him, letting the blasts of attacks bounce off his saber and back toward his attacker.
He'd failed; everything seemed to pass right through his attacker, as if he had not even been there, invisible.
Something or someone had been there, he was sure of it, he'd seen some sort of outline. None of that mattered; he had the experience of proving it.
His robes were tattered in some places, that was enough proof for him, and it would be enough for Kamon, too.
...if he would even believe him.
Quickly making his way toward where the celebrations were, he searched for Kamon within the crowd...
