The Return: Lost & Found

Tevarii sat back in the chair, listenning to the intercepted transmition from Lupercus to that Solo slut over and over again. Each time she heard it the rage inside her increased untill the point she could contain it no longer.

Jumping out of her chair so quickly it knocked it over, a scream of unending hatred tore through her lips and shattered the silence of the room. Her chest heaved with ragged breaths as she stared at the speaker the message had played from. <font color=yellow>" We do not approve..."</font>

She began to pace the room like a caged animal. <font color=yellow>" You are ours, Pretender. We put up with your dalliances only so much, but this... this is too much. You seek another, one who would see you turn away from your true self. We cannot allow that, not until we are finished with you ourselves."</font>

Her pacing stopped and the pupils of her already dark eyes expanded until they were nothing more than two black orbs as she drew on the darkside power of the force. She focussed in on her breathing, the rhythm slowing to the point of almost stopping. She retreated inside herself, and in that moment her consciousness left her body and sped through the fabric of time and space.

She found him easily enough, the one helping her shattered cousin. His mind was well protected, and it took a lot of her energy to place the thought within his subconscious. The location of a planet, and the assurance that what he was looking for would be there.

Her energy all but gone, it took what was left to return to her body where she collapsed into a heap on the floor. Staring up at the ceiling a wicked smile formed on her lips.
<font color=yellow>" This should keep our boy's attention from that little skank..."</font>

Ren tilted his head slightly, as though a thought had just come to the fore.

It was more than a thought, it was an urge, an urge to go to Averam, and an urge that told him he would find all the answers there.

<font color=lime>"Vessana."<font color=white> He said, gently rubbing the back of her head. <font color=lime>"Vessana, wake up, we're leaving."

<font color=red>"Hmm, we are?" <font color=white>She grumbled sleepily.

<font color=lime>"Something, I don't know what, we . . .we just have to go now.

GreyHawk to Lurdara, we're ready to depart, thanks for the ride."

<font color=white>The tall cargo doors of the frieghter creaked open, and the Greyhawk shot out with a burst of speed.

<font color=lime>"We're going to Averam, we'll find whatever we're looking for on that planet, I'm sure of it."

Dakkon’s last line brought a small chuckle out of Kas. “My Dear Dakkon, you wouldn’t be able to extradite me if you tried.” Kas’ eyes narrowed, and his voice hardened. “I suggest you stop making empty threats, and get to the point. First. You say that I was harboring criminals from Royal custody. I was not informed of any criminals arriving in Vinda Corp space. You most certainly could have messaged me about them. Second, what is this “Greyhawk” you speak of? I suppose it is that ship you sent your fighters after. That was a most foolish act Mr. Darksword.” Kas dropped the sunny exterior, and leaned forward to Dakkon. “Mr. Darksword, Hapes and VC have been friends for awhile. I would hate to see something small and petty like this tear us apart. If you could start at the beginning… and explain what you are doing here? And whom you are chasing?”

Her bags were packed, her apartment was all cleaned out, and she was all set to go to the arms of her beloved Lupercus...or was she?

Jaina leaned back against her fridge with a big spoon and a carton of chocolate-mint ice cream. Well, she couldn't rightly leave a perfectly good carton of ice cream there to melt! As she nursed the carton, Jai kept wondering if she was doing the right thing.

She loved Lupercus...deeply....kinda. He was the first guy that...well...he was the first. And, to Jai, that was something extremely special that she couldn't just toss away because of some silly rumors and pictures...and hard evidence.

"Ugh! This is crazy, Solo. Oh, frell...now you're talking to yourself. Good grief.", she moaned as she took another big bite of the minty chocolate dessert.

It was a problem, a real problem. She wanted to go, but then she wanted to stay. She loved Lupercus, but then again, how could she ever truly love someone so bad? She liked Kas, but why would a well-to-do business man like her? And how was she able to love Lupercus and like Kas at the same time!?

It was all too confusing for an almost-eighteen-year-old smuggler. She didn't want to deal with this...Men are so not worth the trouble. I'm turning lesbian. Her own thought made her giggle..but then....that voice....that...eerie, far off....

Something from far away, some enchanting feeling would sweep over her whenever she thought about anything or anyone other than Lupercus. It was a binding, yet warm feeling. It forced her...no no...begged?...no...trapped her. Yes, trapped her by the comfortable happiness and made her love him. Deep down, she knew he was controlling her...but that feeling...that eerie, far off feeling...

"What am I doing?!" Jai got up and tossed the ice cream in the garbage, along with the spoon. She didn't have time to bother washing it now. She picked up on of her heavier bags and went out to the lifts just outside her door. She pushed the 'up' button, and, when the doors opened, she placed the bag so the doors wouldn't be able to shut till she'd placed all her bags inside the lift.

It took a few trips, but Jaina loaded the lift, took a little ride up, and unloaded the lift in the same manner as before. She was now atop VC headquarters where she always kept her precious ship, the Millennium Jade Falcon. She took all her bags, boxes, and trinkets aboard, then plopped down heavily in the captain's chair in the cockpit and sighed.

Her fingers hovered over the coordinate input station's console. She knew where Lupercus wanted her to go...Calamari, to "their island". If she knew Lup, he'd hidden the coord's to where he was currently at in that little cave they'd found in the small jungle in the middle of the island. She didn't want to go. She wanted to stay with....

"That's it. Oh, yeah! Why didn't I think of this before?! I can get Kas and take him with me! Oh, I am a genius!" She grabbed her comlink to call him, but stopped short when she saw the time. "Ten after eleven? He's probably asleep. Oy, I don’t want to wake him up."

Jai decided to get some sleep, then she'd go over to Kas' in the morning. Maybe telling him a little about Lupercus' whereabouts would make a good impression. She smiled to herself and nodded approvingly at her little plan...and with that, Jai stole back to her bed in the rear of the MJFalcon and tried to sleep.

<font color=CC3333>The Greyhawk vibrated beneath her feet as it shot through hyperspace, but Vess did not seem to notice. She made her way to the Greyhawk's cago hold where Ren had stored her things since they first left Ossus.

If Ren's hunch was right, and that Averam would hold the answers, then things would move quickly once they were there and she would not have time to prepare. Locking the hatch behind her, Vess slid her case to the floor and opened it.

Hidden beneath the few layers of clothing was what she was looking for. She lifted the sheathed dagger from within, holding it in her hand a moment before sliding it from its sheath. The jagged edges of the deadly metal gleamed in the dim light of the cargo hold, reflecting into Vess' eyes. She stared at it long and hard, wondering if she trully had it inside her to take another's life.

That thought lasted but a second in her mind as she snapped the sheath back in place and slipped the dagger into her boot. Smoothing out the lines of her pants she knew that Lupercus would not give up her children without a fight. One she was more than willing to give to him.

Next to be retrieved from within the case was the blaster she purchased back on Hapes what seemed an eternity ago. Vess checked the cartrige, making sure it was fully charged before clipping the holster around her waist and placing the weapon inside. Taking the hooded leather long coat from the case, she replaced the clothing and put the case back in its place.

Her arms slid into the sleaves of the jacket as she left the cargo hold behind. The last clasp was done up, conceiling the pistol on her hip, before she stepped into the cockpit. Without a word she sat next to Ren.

Whatever happened now, Vess knew beyond a doubt someone was not walking away alive...

Dakkon chuckled, shaking his head slightly.

"I'm sorry Mr Katta, but the brutal language of basic does no relay all the nuances of Hapan. Extradition would occur, whether agreement is made or not. You pride yourself on your intelligence services, I hope then you would know what the Krypteia is..."

He trailed off, allowing the gravity of his words to sink in. To anyone who actually knew what the Krypteia was, such a threat would have been tantamount to unleashing the hounds of hell. Lupercus himself was one of the Krypteia's graduates.

"Empty threats are not my forté, and as you can see i am a man on the edge. Do not presume to be as stupid as your guards look. You know exactly who and what i am after, and what the Greyhawk is.

I am not one for beaurocratic double talk, and your deceptions fall on the deaf ears of one adept in the Force."

His voice rose slightly, but notably.

"Where has Ren gone?"

“Ren? Ren Janggar?” Kas’ face changed to astonishment. “Ren Janggar was here? I don’t believe it! Whenever we’re on the same planet we usually bump into each other…” Realization spread across his face, and Kas leaned forward. “He’s done something, hasn’t he. Either that, or he’s falsely accused and is…”

Fading off, Kas looked at Dak. The determined look on the Hapes Prince’s face struck a chord. “Yes, yes, of course I’ll help. DRIVER! Take us to STCP, right away.”

Turning back to Dakkon, Kas explained. “STCP, Space Travel Clearance Port. Controls all space travel in Vinda Corporation space. We’ll pull his flight logs from there, as well as where he was headed.”

Dakkon sat back, refraining from conversation as they travelled. Minutes later the craft stopped and the Prince looked across at the beaurocrat.

"Here?"

How could you be such an arse, Solo? How could you let them both get under your skin like this? Absurd! You've gone absolutely nutso.

Jaina had, to say the least, a change of heart. She was currently pacing the small lobby of STCP, her YT-1300 waiting out on a landing pad, ready to go.

"A few moments longer and we'll have your clearance for Coruscant, Ma'am."

"Yes yes...fine. Just hurry it up, will you?"

Jai sighed and stuffed her hands in her pockets, pacing anxiously and periodically checking her wristchrono for the time. She'd had enough of Lupercus and enough of Kas and enough of Bonaden. She was throwing it all to the wind and going back to what she did best...being Number One on Coruscant's Most Wanted list. This whole legit thing with Vinda Corp was through. She needed space, she needed crime, she needed to go back to the belly of the beast and delve with the seedy world of crime to which she'd become addicted. And, as far as she was concerned, she current situation just wasn't going to make the cut...

That meant Kas was the first thing to go. He was a good man, a better businessman, and just too nice for Jai. She put all fancies of him out of her head immediately. That meant her job at Vinda Corp was over as well. She'd keep in touch of course...but it was time to move on to bigger and darker things. Her days of trying to keep a legit job were through.

This almost meant that Lupercus was going too. He was evil...and that was the nicest thing one could say about him. Jai liked being a criminal...but dating the embodiment of pure evil was just a bit too much for her to stomach.

"Just a few more moments, Miss Solo. Please, have a seat. ...Please?" A young ensign of the local guards implored Jai to have a seat and cut out the violent, frantic pacing for a bit.

She relinquished her incessant strolling and plopped down dejectedly into a posh, leather armchair. She was tired, upset....but determined, and bent on doing what she'd decided upon. Kas, Lup, and VC were history...Coruscant and crime, Here I come. She smiled to herself a little and thought about what she could do next. She'd heard rumors of an organized crime family that had come to power in the underworld of Coruscant...and the Hutts were popular hot shots in the spice circuit again. Finding a job would be no problem, and finding a man to replace Lup wouldn't be too hard either.

"Miss? Miss Solo...you've been granted clearance." Jai stood abruptly and moved over to the main desk from where the secretary and summoned her. The older woman had Jai hold on a moment while she got her Nav Cards and lane passes, and Jai did so, turning around and facing the main entrance of STCP, folding her arms across her chest as she waited, smiling proudly to herself.

“Yes, here”

The two stepped out, and headed up a flight of steps into STCP.

“I need the flight plan for a ship named the “Grewhawk”. It just left the planet.” Kas said curtly to the receptionist in a lowered tone.

“One moment please”

“It won’t take long Dakkon” Kas said to his silent companion, this time his voice slightly louder. After he finished speaking, Kas heard a slight squeak behind him. Turning, he came face to face with Jai. Neither said anything, Jaina looked like she had been caught stealing cookies from the cookie jar.
