Shadows Past (Blackblade only)

Dark brown eyes watched him as he entered the bar, watched him as he sat in his usual booth, and watched him as he ordered his usual drink. He was becoming pretictable, and he should know better.

For three days now she had watched him, and there was no doubt in her mind that he was aware he was being watched. Yet she was very good at her job, and knew how to hide herself from the likes of him. He wouldn't know it was her until it was too late.

Her slender hand reaching inside the folds of her cloak, feeling the mini-bowcaster on her hip. How easy it would be, to let that arrow fly through the crowd and straight into his heart. Yet she had more than one reason to stay her hand.

The index finger of her left hand dipped into the glass of Corellian Wiskey that sat in front of her and she traced the rim of the glass with the now moist fingertip. She watched him another moment before flicking her finger dry and rising from her chair, taking the glass of liquor with her.

She came up beside his booth, pushing the shot glass of tequilla to the side with the glass of wiskey to bring the wiskey sitting in front of him "If memory serves me, you use to be a Wiskey man. Since when did you start drinking that poison, Blackblade?"

He had sensed the lingering eyes since the first time he had come here, watching, recording and examining every aspect of his manner. He had been intregiued as to why someone would seek him out in such a manner and then fail to approach him. Thus he had returned, once and now twice to this same dingy bar, waiting to see if he would be approached.

He sat there now, shot of tequila in hand, as he waited for any sign of approach, or any slip up that would reveal his pursuers identity.

Off to his left he could sense someone walking towards his booth as if meaning to pass. He dismissed that as the watcher as he had recently dubbed it would be unlikely to approach him now, or so he thought.

"If memory serves me, you use to be a Whiskey man. Since when did you start drinking that poison, Blackblade?"

His head didn't move as the woman pushed his glass aside and sat across from him. His eyes casually glanced over her as he retreaved his glass, absorbing every possible detail of her manner.

"Whiskey is just so... Clichéd."

He smiled to himself, his eyes finally meeting hers.

"What are you doing here Korosu?"

Kami offered him a playful smile as she motioned for one of the waiters to bring her another glass of wiskey. " I was in the neighbourhood." With one hand she removed the worn barret from her head and with the other ran her fingers through the thick curls of her long dark brown hair.

A second glass of wiskey was set down on the table with a splash, sending some of the dark liquid spilling onto the table. Her index and middle finger slid through the puddle of liquor and she held them to her lips, licking the fluid from their tips before raising the glass from the table.

" It's been a few years, can't a girl buy her old Lieutenant a drink?"

He smiled warmly, his mind drifting back nearly 6 years to Paris Island and the then Rogue Imperial Infantry Corps training academy. He had lead the class the whole way and Kami had been the only one who had challenged him for the position.

"In the neighborhood? Isn't that just a little clichéd too?"

He grinned before tossing back his head, the shot glass upending its contents in his mouth. He placed the shot back on the table carefully

"Another drink would be perfect."

He paused, his head cocking to the side as he looked at her steadily, the grin growing across his face as he watched her.

"What are you doing with yourself nowdays Korosu?"

After taking a sip of her wiskey, she once against motioned to the waiter for another round of drinks. Kami leaned her back against the wall of the booth, stretching her legs out on the bench.

" Lately? Just a little bit of this and that. Got hired on as security for a freighter that got in this morning. Just waiting now for the next job to head my way."

A soft chuckle escaped her lips as she took another drink. " I know, not as impressive as you - an Admiral now from what I hear. But I've begun to enjoy this transient existence. Nothing tying me down, no loyalties to anyone but myself."

Their drink came as she finished off the glass of wiskey and raised the fresh one in a toast. " To old times, and new lives."

Dakkon snorted as she mentioned his rank but not interfering in her speech. As the whiskey was placed before him he rose it to meet her toast.

"To old times..."

He trailed off, silence pervading the booth as he took a drink.

"My current rank is political bullshit in my opinion...

I earned my way to Fleet Admiral. Then when Raktus is thrown out i get a politically motivated promotion to Grand Admiral.

And now, with all the crap that the Emperor is doing with his return, i've become the Lord Admiral of the Empire."

He snorted again, taking another drink.

"Why leave the army? You were a natural..."

"Leave..." she gave a short, sardonic laugh. " Didn't exactly leave the first time around. Was taken out of infantry and place in Intel shortly after you took off for the Naval units. Like you said though, too much politics for a girl who's only good at shooting things. So, on one assignment I never came back."

Kami smirked and finished off her drink. " By the way, if anyone asks, I was never here."

Dakkon chuckled, taking another sip.

"So what are you actually doing in the neighborhood anyway? I mean, whats a girl like you doing in a place like this?"

His face remained neutral, unaware of the fact he was just so cliché in his termanology.

Kami smiled. " Like I said, I ran security on a freighter that came in to port this morning. Saw this place, thought it might be a good start on finding my next job and get a drink. When I saw you come in, figured I'd say hello to an old friend.

She raised an eyebrow at him, a playful glint in her dark brown eyes. " You don't believe me, do you?"

Dakkon smiled broadly, his teeth visable.

"Not a single word!

You never could lie you know, especially to me. Your intentions were always like a book."
