Chaos had errupted throughout the galaxy at more than half a dozen planets. The Galactic Coalition and their cronies had made a preemptive strike on the New Order in an attempt to destroy them. Foolishly though, they had sent just about every ship they owned, with too few craft at home they had become a ripe target, sweet for the taking. Farfalen though, had other thoughts on its mind.

"Reversion to realspace in five... four ... three... two... one." The ship shook for a brief moment, the stars collectively ceased being white lines and became little dots on the black canvas once more. A rocky red planet and its single moon was dead center infront of the small fleet.

"Shields up and weapons charged. Orders sir?" Reported the first officer.

"Do a system scan, prepare for battle." Admiral Jzok's told his men.

Kessel

"I hate this planet."

General Meridoc smiled at Captain Joanson of the ORS ISD Sovereign Sun over his cup of steaming Bakuran Stem Tea.

"We all do. But if the Coalition would get off their asses and finish this deal, we could be on our way." Meridoc said.

"Yeah. We are already three days behind schedule. They need us back at Bakura. We have an entire ORS fleet that is just sitting around, not doing anything." Joanson said, glowering. Meridoc remained calm and sipped at his tea again.

"The glitterstim is important. We have to secure Kessel, and make sure it is safe before we can move on. There IS a war out there." Meridoc said.

"Oh screw Kessel. This is nothing but a lifeless, mishapen rock, floating in space." Joanson said. If Joanson were any other person, Meridoc would have given him a reprimand for speaking in such a way in front of a General. But the two were very old friends, and that came with certain freedoms.

Meridoc regarded his friend with a smile, "A mishapen rock that is worth trillions."

Joanson scoffed and drank from his snifter of Corellian brandy, smuggled out of Imperial territory.

A comm call suddenly came in.

"General Meridoc, Captain Joanson to the bridge. Unidentified flotilla approaching.

Meridoc frowned, Joanson was already standing to his feet. It was the Captain who acknowledged.

The both walked the short distance to the bridge, and when they got there, there was a small force of ships, visible in the distance.

"Report."

"We are studying hull markings, course corrections and patterns now. We will have an ID in a minute or so." Commander Ross, XO of the Sovereign Sun, said.

The sensor operator, Ensign Macgivy, looked up at General Meridoc from the starboard crew pit, "Sir, the unidentified fleet is charging weapons, and raising sheilds."

Meridoc frowned, perplexed. But his battle senses took over, "Do the same. Sound general quarters, all crews to battle stations."

He turned back to Ross, "ID?"

"Coming up now." Ross went silent for a moment as the other ships got closer.

"Farfalen." Ross said.

General Meridoc mentally reveiwed information regarding Farfalen. Black Hand reports on this were spotty at best, as is Farfalen was highly secretive. He did know that they were not friendly to ORS... or anyone for that matter.

"Open a channel." Meridoc said.

"Done."

"Attention, unidentified battle group. This is General Meridoc of the Outer-Rim Sovereignty force Zero-Three-Zero. You are ordered to halt and explain your presence in the Kessel system." Meridoc said, and instantly turned to Ross, "Inform GC officials that this is probably a hostile group, with intent to assault them. ORS will assist."

Ross nodded and Meridoc turned to Joanson, "Ready the fleet for battle. We are here to protect ORS interests, and Kessel is valuble to us. If Farfalen's intent is to take that, we are obligated to protect the planet."

Joanson nodded, his earlier demeanor gone, and replaced with somehing far more serious... and deadly.

The ORS fleet formed up into a battle formation and charged weapons, and raised sheilds.

"Admiral, we have twenty-six vessels. Two are class three vessels and two dozen class fives... no wait, class six." Reported the sensor officer.

"Well, open a channel of response;" The Admiral waited for the signal, then said loud and clear, "Attention unidentified craft, if you leave now, we will not destroy you. Thanks."

When the channel ended, the Admiral looked at his first officer and said "We're out gunned.. prepare for the retreat."

Meridoc frowned as the transmission from the opposing fleet came through.

"They have ceased transmission." Ross said, busying himself with sensor readings.

"Indeed." Joanson muttered. Meridoc was already deep in thought, trying to assess the situation. This didn't make sense... a Farfalen force comes to a Coalition held planet, threatens a Sovereign and superior force with destruction, and moves forward.

"Distance?" Meridoc asked.

"Twenty-five thousand kilomaters and closing."

"Engage thrust. Let's go out to meet them. Prepare the Scorpions for launch."

"Yes sir."

The fleet began to move forward, toward the Farfalen force. Meridoc ignored the emminent battle for a moment.

"What do we have in the way of sensor tags?" He asked Ross, who reveiwed his records.

"A few thousand of them." Ross said.

"I want each of the Birds to fire a few at each enemy ship. If these guys decide to run, I want to be able to track them." Meridoc said.

"Yes sir."

"Inform me when they are ready. I want a blockade line set up. No Farfalen ship gets past us." Meridoc said.

The ORS ships set up in an impenatrable picket line, to block the incoming Farfalen ships.

"Open a channel."

"Done."

"Attention unidentified craft, we will not let you pass. If you come any closer, we will fire upon you. This is your final warning."

"Control, Have the Shoto's take flank, give us about four hundred meters on either side before we hit them, everything else on us." Said Jzoks.

"Sir. We have unidentified objects coming at us, appear to be non-hostile... tags most likely. Take them out?" Sensors reported.

"No, let them track us. It won't do them much good." Replied the Admiral.

"They have assembled the picket line."

"Excellent. Helm, Continue course, reduce speed to two thirds power. Time till effective missile range at new speed?"

"Thirty-five seconds, one hundred and twenty till laser range."

"Thank you. Weapons, disengage the slick armor, lets show our guns."

"Yes sir, on it." Replied Weapons.

"All hands, prepare for war." The Admiral said into his shipwide comlink.

"Sir, their weapons are charged, they are preparing to fire."

Meridoc frowned, something was not right. He couldn't place it though.

"Alright. All ships fire missiles."

Hundreds of concussion missiles and proton torpedoes lanced out from the ORS line, some of them missed, and some were picked off. But the majority hit the forward sheilds of the enemy fleet.

"Wait for it." Meridoc said. Joanson and Ross were shouting out directions.

"Close the noose." Meridoc said.

The ORS Birds of Prey on the ends of the picket line swooped inward, their engines blazing. Six of them hit the Shoto on one flank, and another six hit the Shoto on the other side.

The remaining ships all engaged the Zen and the Corevettes.

The shields took minor damage as a few missiles made it past the Wyvern defense grids. The ORS had struck first, and that was all that was needed.

"All ships, aim for the sixes with beams." Shouted the Admiral, he gave about three seconds for the word to spread then boomed out the word: "FIRE!"

From hundreds of emplacements lanced out red bolts of energy, all aimed for the bridges of the enemy ships, and while they might have had a decent hull, there were no shields. The hull super heated, turning into a glowing white then broke apart, allowing for the follow up shots to hit home.

"Idiots." The Admiral mumbled.

Parts of the small craft blew apart in spectacular fashion, the rest seemed to float adrift. From a few random ones would come sputs of fires, only to be responded to by turbolaser cannons from the Shotos. The slick had been drawn back on the three well-sized cruisers showing all the guns.

"Send the star destroyers one last chance to surrender." Jzok told his first officer.

"Yes sir."

"If not, fire all weapons, maximum output at them."
