The Peace Brigade lined up in formation with the Vong, as if they could draw strength from the aliens strange ships.
The stars swirled as the two forces clashed together. Three different interests colliding and fighting over one planet, for one cause.
Men died like flies. The detonation of ships and the fire that rained from the holes in hulls screamed pain.

hold your position fool Hold it

The battle was grossly over matched for the ships of one lucky side. Even with the help of Vong tec, the peace brigade stood no chance.

Bring the port about. Fire at will on that Vong ship

The Yuuzhan Vong ships relinquished their hulls with regret, and died in pain. They were supposed to accept pain, but when a being dies in a slow vacuum leak death, it forgets to embrace what it cannot understand.

Concentrate all power on the engines of that ship. Tell the fleet to attack, and peruse to the point of hyperspace

The Scrappy fleet that had lay before Katta was now in disorderly defeat. Running for their lives, with a fleet now well over twice their size, they just wished to leave.
But they would not leave so easily. They would die, and die slow.

**all ships but one have just entered hyperspace sir. The one left behind is a PB'er sir. Sensors say damaged power**

Pull up and take her in. Give me a channel to that other admiral.

He had been wrong. And as much as that disturbed him, he wasn’t angry. He had a job to do, and a minor setback such as this wasn’t going to stop him from doing it. His first reaction to finding out it had been Peace Brigade, the traitorous mercenaries who sold Jedi to the Yuuzhan Vong, was anger. Then, gradually, he took control of it.

There were five planets that an assault with that timing could have come from. Clak’dor VII and Sluis Van were both being controlled by Rogue Imperial warlord Chadd Fearsons. Dagobah, while an obvious Vong target, was unlikely. That left Sullust, the volcano planet that orbited to close to its sun, where the Rebel armada had gathered before the massive attack on the second Death Star.

And, by tracing the escape vectors of the enemy fleet, that’s where they were headed. Sullust. He transmitted his findings to the fleet and headed for his shuttle.

The governor was on the payroll of the Peace Brigade. Or rather, he used to be. He was dead now, he had put a blaster in his mouth.

The new governor, a young woman, was happy to sign onto the Initiative charter. And so, after a mock war and a fierce stuggle, Eriadu joined with the GDI.

Now they only had to go back and stop the Yuuzhan Vong from doing it again.

"Admiral, you have command of the fleet to pursue the enemy. A portion of freedom fleet will be arriving shortly to defend Eriadu. Happy hunting."

A single ship, a Galactic Defence Initiative scout snubfighter, reverted to realspace on the edge of the Sullust system. Or rather, what had been the Sullust system. Now it was clogged with Yuuzhan Vong warships, stretching as far as the human eye could see. As far as the sensors could see, in fact. According to the readings, still coming in, the number of ships was close to two hundred. More than enough to discourage a starightforward attack on the place.

But then, Supreme Commander Isstal wasn't normally one for straightforwardness. The scout fighter, given away immediatly by its ion drive glows, turned tail and accelerated back towards its exit point, a host of skips and smaller Yuuzhan Vong capital ships in pursiut.

"I'm still on sure I like this plan." Supreme Commander Isstal nodded patiently.
"I know, Hiram. But its as good of oppertunity as any to test the Vong's reactions and speed. And the compitence of their comanding officer." Drayson nodded.
"But still, it's dangerous."
"Everything in war is dangerous, Admiral. We can
't win this thing without risks. Yes, people will die, and yes, it might be our fault, but it's the neccessity of war." Drayson nodded.
"Yes, sir."

The pilot cringed. Two matalocks, the Yuuzhan Vong version of a light cruiser, just for a snubfighter. No matter. Ahead of her space was disforming, glowing brightly as more ships reverted to realspace. A Galactic Defence Initiative task force. Right on schedule.

The Carrack cruisers opened fire, their deadly turbolaser and laser cannons bolts flashing alarmingly close to the snubfighter's canopy as the gunners expertly picked off her pursuers.

Then they turned their guns on the larger enemy, the six Corvette anologs and the larger, more dangerous, cruisers.

Already in the distance the Vong fleet was breaking, moving to respond to this new threat. The pilot knew that by the time they arrived she and her friends would be long gone. But in the meantime...

"Recon Six to GDI fleet, requesting permission to enter engagement zone." She said, still on course for the largest of the small force. A voice came back, fuzzy due to the limits of modern comm equipment.

"Negative, Recon Six. The Supreme Commander wants you onboard for debreifing." Recon Six acknowledged and pumped more power to the drives.

Behind her, the shattered Vong pursuit force was limping back towards their reinforcements.

"It seems we have a choice to make, Supreme Commander." Supreme Commander Isstal looked at the Vong fleet arrayed in front of them, not answering. "Sir?" Drayson tried again. Isstal turned.
"A choice, you say Admiral? On what?"
"I should think that would be obvious sir. To stay and fight, or retreat." Isstal shook his head.
"No, Admiral. We will retreat. We have acheived our primary goal, and to stay would only be to put ourselves in unnessecary danger." The Admiral nodded.
"Yes,s ir. Shall I order the retreat?" Isstal nodded.
"As soon as Recon Six is aboard, Admiral."

Space. An endless array of stars and planets, stretching forever in the distance. Every young boy, at some point in time, dream of flying through those stars, dancing an intricate number among the heavens. With so many stars, and so many planets untouched by the galaxy, one might wonder why war is ever a necessity. Power, maybe. Or a bloodlust, possibly. It is doubtful that anyone will ever know why the galaxy is so bent on war. Emperor Palpatine created a fleet of warships solely to spread his influence across the galaxy. The New Republic created a fleet of warships to defend against that Imperial threat, and any threat that may arise. The Yuuzhan Vong… the Yuuzhan Vong brought with them an awesome navy of warships to conquer our galaxy, a force enough to destroy the fragile peace. Bloodlust… definitely bloodlust. And with their love of violence, the Yuuzhan Vong had invaded a galaxy that might have welcomed them. A deadly mistake, one that the Yuuzhan Vong learned the hard way.

This time they were ready. As Recon Six once again dropped her starfighter into realspace above Sullust, a Vong fleet came surging forward to greet her. Grimacing and hoping this new plan would work, she heeled her ship around to starboard and hit the thrusters, sending the ship out and around the enemy ships.

At the same moment in time, a massive bulk appeared from hyperspace, a ship like the one that had killed the Domain Hul worldship.

The massive Disruptor-class Super Star Destroyer Sentinel opened fire, her massive lasers slamming into yorik coral hulls before the Vong could react.

And behind it came more ships. Two smaller Vengeance-class Super Cruisers, and behind them a trio of Allegiance Star Destroyers, the cursed 'triangle ships'.

The Vong taskforce, so confident that their plan would work and the infidels would be routed, failed miserably. As they scrambled to gather themselves into a fighting line, more ships emerged from hyperspace, showering the Vong fleet with laser fire. The small task force, all of thirty Vong ships, exploded. And the Galactic Defence Iniative force moved forward swiftly, coming to a halt only as they reached the invisible barrier that reperesented the planet's mass shadow.

The Yuuzhan Vong fleet was in a outrage. Hundreds of starships came screaming towards the now-outnumbered GDI force...

The Viscount Star Defenders Hammer and Anvil emerged from hyperspace on the far side of the planet, hidden from view by the planet itself and all but invisible to sensors. Here, where the planet was left open as the Yuuzhan Vong rushed to defend the other side of the planet.

True to their names, the two ships slammed into the enemy force, lasers and missile flashing out before the startled Vong could form any kind of defence. They plunged staright into the Vong lines, opening a gap large enough for a dozen Super Star Destroyers to enter.

And they didn't stop there. Their powerful guns still fired, widening the gap and leaving the Vong defences in shambles.

When the two ships accelerated and returned to hyperspace, sixty-two Vong ships, including a prized Grand Cruiser, lay wrecked. The two Iniative ships were scarly damaged...

And with a startling swiftness, the GDI ships, subject to a hundred enemy warships bearing down on them, vanished into hyperspace. It wasn't until later that the Vong realized the trap. Eighty warships were destroyed. The cost to the Galactic Defence Initative: two dozen turbolaser batteries and minor hull breaches on several ships.

Kas's fleet hung in space. Thier side mission had been a success, and the Vong fleet lay in ruins.

Space. A vast array of stars and planets, nebulas and supernovas. Frought with peril and beauty. The place where dreams are made and broken, where Empires are born and fall. Where the Yuuzhan Vong would be defeated. When the first spaceship lifted off all knew that space would become the place of the future. And so it was, here, space. A billion worlds and a billion stars. Enough room for a thousand Empires. That, of course, did not stop the Yuuzhan Vong. In their own bloodlust, their need for power, they invaded our galaxy. By now the war is drawing to a close, but the threat is still there. For now.

GDI First Fleet Task Force 'Sigma-Omega' - Eriadu System

"Supreme Commander, sir. We're recieving a hail from High Admiral Katta." Supreme Commander Isstal turned his gaze from the vast expanse of stars outside the forward viewports and looked at the officer.
"Put him through. I am sure Mr. Katta will have a report for us." The officer nodded and tapped a command. The holographic display on the Supreme Commander's chair came to life with a one-quarter representation of High Admiral Kas Katta. Isstal smiled.
"Admiral. A report, I presume?" The other man nodded.
"Yes, Supreme Commander. Our mission was a success. Sector 8-D was all but destroyed. The Vong will surely be able to rebuild, but they lost several ships and are in a weakened state as of three hours ago."
"Excellent work, Admiral." The Supreme Commander turned away momentarily to tap a command into the keyboard. "You're next mission outline is on its way. You're to ambush the Vong supply convoy heading this way. The Interdictor Risk Factor is assigned to you for the time being." He hesitated for a moment, then added, "Good luck, and may the Force be with you."
