It's Gonna Kill Me

Accessing. _
Location: Kessel. _
Target: Grummet, Sahrah. _

A black A-wing tore through the atmosphere of Kessel, streaking out into the void of space. Seconds later, red needles of light pricked the darkness, stabbing at the vessel and its pilot.

"They just don't quit, do they?" Sahrah Grummet launched a countermeasure as several missiles and torpedoes brushed by. "God, that was close."

Her comm unit crackled and the grisly voice of a man came on, "Surrender or die, Grummet, we've no time for your games."

"Decisions, decisions. Die now or later. Are those the only options?" she charged her lasers, stalling for time with chatter.

"You realize we have your escape vector blocked off," the pirate captain said smugly.

"If I'm going down, I'm taking you with me---or at least a huge chunk of creds out of your account," she turned off the comm and brought the A-wing about, aiming its wedge-shaped nose at the pirate ship.

Lasers poured out towards her, but she dodged them with precision and finesse. "Always have a girl's touch when you do things, pisses the men off more" Sahrah thought to herself. "Time for surgery." She set her lasers to dual-fire and pumped shield energy into them and her engines, pulling a rather suicidal stunt as her ship screamed towards the pirate vessel. When she was in range, she squeezed the trigger and her lasers beat at the sides of the pirate's ship, gnawing a nice hole in their shields, then their hull. Once she'd gotten an opening she started launching concussion missiles, without solid locks, she was too close for them to not miss. They pounded into the hull and Sahrah prepared to cut her speed and dip underneath the slender body of the frigate. Signals and alarms started screaming in her ears and red lights flashed everywhere. The captain had anticipated her move, the frigate was rotating itself, bringing its engines to bear. The wash blew over her ship, flaming her shields and blowing an engine. The canopy blew and her ejector seat launched. Sahrah closed her eyes and prepared for the cold black...

((OOC: if a frigate seems like a pretty powerful ship for pirates to have---it does to me too (so you're not crazy for thinking so)---all i could think of at the moment---please change it as you go along---i can edit this post accordingly. also---this is to introduce me and kas katta in as characters---so please leave leniency for us))

The <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Free Wind<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> reverted to realspace with the usual pop.
Captain Katta stood on the bridge, and was the first to see the drama happen.

<!--EZCODE BOLD START--> Sithspit, I really don't wish to get into a fight now, not with a quarter of my crew on leave<!--EZCODE BOLD END-->

The A-Wing recieved the engine wake blast, and floated off, and an orange suited figure ejected.

<!--EZCODE BOLD START--> :sigh: Put the ship between the pilot and his enemy, and send a shuttle out to pick him up. Hail the frigate, and request that they explain thier actions. I want to get this spice load picked up quickly, so make it snappy<!--EZCODE BOLD END-->

Sahrah's oxygen mask echoed in her ears. Each breath seemed to take forever...she then saw the new ship come out of hyperspace and maneuver itself to protect her. Then a shuttle launched and began to fly towards her.

Curiouser and curiouser... she thought...

OOC: Cut me some slack here. I have trouble posting on weekends, and I am having computer trouble. I won't abandon it yet.

IC:

The <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Free Wind<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> was taking a beating, but holding up well. The shuttle reported that they had the pilot, and they were on their way back.
With a growel, Kas turned to his gunnery officer.

<!--EZCODE BOLD START--> Ok, let's take this slimy worm down. Enable all weapons systems, and surgicly take out their power.
Flight officer, deploy the 1st squadron of fighters, and get the second ready.
<!--EZCODE BOLD END-->

While he looked slightly irritated on the outside, inside Kas was fuming. This delay was costing money.
He knew that it wasn't normal for a Captain of a respected corperation to be involved in mercinary work, but he just had this one last debt to pay, then he would be a free man. This load would finnish pull in enough money to pay it off.
Then this! Dropping into Realspace only to find a fighter get blasted, being forced to save the pilot, and now having to disable the enemy ship without even knowing what was going on. It didn't make sence.

His comm buzzed:

<!--EZCODE BOLD START--> Yes<!--EZCODE BOLD END-->
His voice sharp

<!--EZCODE UNDERLINE START-->Sir, the fighters have launched, and are meeting the enemy force now, and we have the pilot, sir, she wishes to see you now. She says it is important, and might kill her if she doesn't get it off her chest...er...breast....erm....<!--EZCODE UNDERLINE END-->

Kas rolled his eyes.
<!--EZCODE BOLD START--> Just bring her up. And Miake, this isn't your homeworld. Just say things and get it over with.<!--EZCODE BOLD END-->

Sahrah walked onto the bridge and smiled politely when she saw Kas. "Your crewmen certainly have a way with words," she cocked an eyebrow.

Kas nodded. "Um...thanks for saving me back there. I would like to help you out in any way possible if I could. I'm not exactly experienced in the thank-yous department, but I suppose I do owe you my life," she looked up, her blue eyes reading him to see what sort of reply to expect. "I've been flying A-wings since I was a kid - I mean, I can be of real use to you---obviously I'm not great at single-handedly fighting a frigate, but I can do dogfights all right."

Sahrah was feeling rather nervous. The captain didn't exactly look "giddy" or anything. Maybe he's kinda stressed from taking on the ship? she hoped and waited for a reply.

Kas looked her over. Short, like most pilots, blue tipped hair, and spunky. Also not bad to look at. And in his debt.

<!--EZCODE BOLD START--> Well young lady, your Awing is gone, and the Pirates have fled. And my ship is still in one piece.

No harm done, but I would like an explanation of what was happening back there. Would you come with me?
<!--EZCODE BOLD END-->

Turning, he whispered to the nav officer to continue on to Kessle, and deliver the shipment.

Leading the way to a small side door on the brige, Kas took the young woman into his office.

<!--EZCODE BOLD START--> Now, start slow, and not from the begining, but from Kessel

<!--EZCODE BOLD END-->

Sahrah waited until the door slid shut and turned to Kas. "Well, they were my last customers. I was to deliver a "box" to them. I wasn't supposed to know what was in the "box" but being me, I peeked in anyway. 'Pads with information on their surplus, their ships, stock, locations, everything. Plus some illegal weapons included. I made copies of the info and stored them on my A-wings computer---obviously that's gone now. I'm not stupid so I made a backup on a datapad that I stored in my flightsuit...but...well, heh...that got crushed when I ejected," she opened up a pocket and pulled out the datapad hanging together by a few wires.

She tossed it and it clattered onto his desk. "You can analyze it if you want, but it's nice'n fried I'd venture," and, as if on cue, the datapad sparked and sizzled. "I closed the box back up and sealed it...but I made the mistake of not noticing they had a small tripwire inside that sent a message to the chip in it that someone had opened it previously before they'd received it. SOOOOOOOo...they weren't very thrilled, I didn't get paid, and they waited me out for when I left the planet to shoot me down after they realized what had happened. Which isn't fun for me...or...you I suppose."

Sahrah smiled at him and waited to hear what he'd have to say.

Kas looked at the dead Datapad.
I will have my men look at this. We will also retrieve your ship, the memory banks might still be intact.

In the meantime, you are welcome to stay. I lost a fighter pilot in a drunken brawl a while back, so there is an empty E-Wing in the Hanger. You are welcome to it if you wish.

Are course leads us to Kessle, and then I will be of to Talos 4.
Would you like to see your quarters?
