The intensity of Lance's cold, almost hateful stare was enough that, at the very least, it couldn't have left much of a positive impression on the young pilot. Without issuing so much as a grunt, he turned and walked over to the X-Wing he'd chosen for his flight out of the base, putting his last piece of cargo into the diminutive compartment below.
When he finally spoke, his voice was calm, as if the anger in his eyes was merely an outward image, unable to be attached to the sounds he made due to some magical force. "Just pack your stuff into one of the fighters and get ready to leave. I'm not waiting for long."
Sighing inwardly, he turned his attention back to his fighter and his flight suit. The lack of an astromech could have easily been looked on as an oversight, but he didn't even pay any heed to the idea of calling for a crewman to have one fill the empty socket. Instead, his body remained focused on the task of getting ready for his flight away from the Coalition...
...and his mind, deranged as it was, kept itself busied with everyone he would finally avenge.

Jalyne looked the Major up and down, what could make a man so filled with hate? All she knew is that she was glad to be getting away from it. Without replying Jalyne walked over to the X-wing and placed her few belongings into the cargo hold. Then she called for a crewman to assist by putting Twitters into the X-wing. She walked around the ship doing a pre-flight and made sure everything was in order. She glanced over to the Major and his fighter. noticeing the fact that he didn't have an astromech droid. being a curious
person she walked over and asked. "Do you need a droid, or have you memorized the jump coordinates to where we're going? Which leads me to ask, where are we going?"

There was, as far as he could tell, good reason for her to ask about the lack of a droid, and their destination. However, there was also the obvious fact that he didn't really feel like answering much of those questions, and would have gladly just ignored them...but he couldn't.
And why can't I? he asked himself, keeping the words hushed and secreted in his thoughts, lest she think him insane. If she did already, then...well...such was the penalty he suffered for doing what he did. "I'll send you the coordinates in-flight," he replied, his voice gruff, almost to the point of sounding un-caring. Without another word, the major went back to getting his flight suit on, struggling with it just a little as he did so.
Once it was finally and properly in place, he turned his attention to the empty fighter. Silence seemed to breed itself inside it...a silence he'd been used to almost all of his life...an internal silence. That was also, however, where the fighter's own silence broke off from his own; it couldn't feel pain like a person could, and there were many in the galaxy who had felt too much.
Without another noise, he started climbing up the ladder that led to the cockpit of the aging ship, feeling some of that age settle into himself as he did so. It's gonna be a long flight... he mused to himself, his thoughts conveying nothing but dry frustration with the entirety of the world around him.

Jalyne stood for a moment and then turned away. Shaking her head she climbed up the ladder into the fighter and sat down in the cockpit watching Lance through the window. He was a very troubled man with a troubled past. Activating the main system and preparing a preflight check of all system was the first thing she did.
After she was finished with the systems check she glanced over the fuel indicator and made sure she would have more than enough to fly half the galaxy. "Twitters are you all set?" a whistle awnsered her question in the positive. "All right let's get ready to go!" Jalyne grabbed the helmet, and put it on. Excitement filled her, just like always, but this time it was different, the excitement didn't just come from the flight it came from a new future as well.
Jalyne looked out the window and saw Lance climbing up the ladder to the cockpit. That was her cue, she reached over and activated the engines and the main repulstor. From this moment on she vowed never to distrust people again.

The cockpit slammed shut with a resounding thud, indicative largely of how old and decrepit the starfighter really was, and how soon it would need to either undergo a complete overhaul, or just be scrapped and put to use as a set of spare parts designed to service more advanced models. Neither option sounded too appealing to Lance, but he was fortunately not in the same position as the old fighter. Had he been...well...things might have been different.
As soon as the fighter was in the air, he received clearance from control to leave the hangar bay proper. This, in itself, was good news; he hadn't even had to ask, so it was possible that the flight coordinator wasn't aware that there was no real authority behind the major's request. Without even bothering to acknowledge the officer with a response, Lance dialed his comm. frequency over to another signal, picking up the other X-Wing...and, as a result, Jalyne.
"Once we get out of the atmosphere, set course for Mon Calamari. There was something about it in the news that merits being checked out...in person. Hopefully, we'll be able to get there without too much of a problem."
Wishful thinking...it was worth something, after all.

Jalyne swung the X-wing around and listened to the comunications.
"Once we get out of the atmosphere, set course for Mon Calamari. There was something about it in the news that merits being checked out...in person. Hopefully, we'll be able to get there without too much of a problem."
Jalyne pointed the nose of her X-wing towards the sky, and accelerated. A smile appeared on her face as she thought about what she was doing. "Twitters set course for Mon Calamari." Then switching comm frequency she replied to the other X-wing. "All right, I agree, see you on the other side." With that she exited atomsphere, punched in the cordinates and pushed on the hyperspace controls. Must have been quite a spectical for anyone watching the sensors. But, at least she was out of there.
