Courage, Bravery, or Foolishness?(Morianda)

The stink of rotting carbon-based lifeforms hang heavily in the air as a lanky gungan tread slowly through the marshes of an unnamed planet orbiting the star Morianda. The Gungan whipped out his lightsaber just in time to cut off of a falling tree a branch that would have most likely sundered off his head.

This Gungan Jedi was Frakutsk, a member of the Galactic Coalition. He never had been much of the ranger type, and thus had to study many archives and such to learn about how to survive in such a hostile enviornment.

His mission; to find a place for the Galactic Coalition to SETTLE on this junk-ridden crud-filled planet hardly suited to the many strange lifeforms that have adapted to withstand its extremes and deadly intent. This planet seemed to have a mind of its own.

Frakutsk tripped over a stray... something, and fell down with a *SPLAT*. As he did, a geyser of lava erupted much to close to Frakutsk for comfort. Frakutsk got back up and continued clumsily stumbling over things and getting whapped by random branches and twigs as he walked towards the area where his scanning console had picked up a stability in violent eruptions and deadly poisenous creatures and plants.

The ground began to shake beneath Frakutsk's feat, at first he was alarmed but he soon realizd that this was just the planet acting up again. It's hundreds of thousands of tectonic plates made earthquakes no less frequent then rainstorms on it.

A small, strange creature, covered in scales and shaped like a large egg with huge feet, jumped down from a tree and hissed at Frakutsk. Despite himself, Frakutsk half-yelled at the thing, "Go awaysa, get outa me way"

The creature only hissed louder at Frakutsk. Frakutsk pulled a short, metal pole from his belt and swung it at the creature... the creature jumped at the shock that it gave him and scampered away. Frakutsk smiled, thank the kind natives of Mnedia 4 for that one!

As Frakutsk continued walking he surveyed the plant life surrounding him. Here was a tall, normal looking tree, exept that when Frakutsk attempted to cut one of ITS braches that was in the way with his lightsaber, it wouldent cut! Something has to be pretty amazing not to be cut by the full force of a lightsaber blade.

Frakutsk instead ducked under the branch with difficulty. He saw yet another plant, this one had green flowers. As one of the strange egg-creatures approched it, hoping for its next meal, each of the innocent-looking flowers turned toward the creature and spat green acid at it.

Frakutk carefully avoided going near that plant... but here was another! a strange yellowish moss covered the next few feet infront of Frakutsk. Low and behold, in came yet another guinie pi- i mean strange scaled egg-creature. It stepped on the moss, and instantly the moss snapped off the ground and wrapped itself in entirety around the poor little creature! Covered in strange moss, the creature hobbled off, hissing. Handy how those little egg-creatures are always there to let Frakutsk know what the plant does before he blindly gets himself killed by it, eh?

To Frakutsk's suprise, another patch of moss grew back ri ght where the old one had been... Frakutsk leaped over it, narrowly missing banging his head and an overhaning branch above him

And the GC was supposed to settle here?

The Coalition First Expeditionary Force to Morianda, deemed too long to be given an Acronym, followed their Gungan guide. The planet had been deemed a good choice for colinization because A) It was a good stratiegic point, both economically and militarily, B) it was habitible, if a little overgrown, and C) no one had lived there yet and as such there was no risk of cultural troubles.

There were a couple hundred civilian settlers, mostly the type who liked nothing more then going to places that no one else has gone to yet. The rest were people who lost bets with their friends. Tagging along were about two dozen coalition soldiers and a few researchers and organizers. At the back of the motley crew was a group of large land-transports, carrying the supplies they'd need.

Whispers were evident amongs the group of people following the Jedi.

"Where are we now?"

"I dunno, it all looks the same to me."

"Well, the Jedi'll know where to go, right?"

"I hope so. Maybe there's a clearing somewhere around here?"

"Fingers crossed. Let's keep going for now."

They were several miles from the landing zone, that was nothing more then a patch of less-sodden-then-usual earth. It was just the start of their journey inland, but with a little luck they'd find a nice clearing soon, where they can get started at building some comfy shelters.

Frrakutsk looked back over his shoulder, aside from the many settlers stood out the huge transports, hovering dangerously close to the tree tops as the glided along, causing great pandamonium below them.

Again frakutsk looked at his datapadish thing. It definately pointed the way he was going, no doubts about it... then why werent they there yet?

------

We now join a small team of hapless reaserchers as i try to get the thread up to 5000 wor- i mean, as they examine and *atttempt* to classify the many strange things around them.

"Well, Yendor, you see these trees here, i belive they are of the Reallyhardtocutium Treelikecrud genus..."

"Uh, Ymmot, i think the first word is the genus, then comes the species."

"Yeah, Yrral, and these egg-creatures, they are definately under the Guenipigishplantesters genus."

"But Yrneh, thats just a bunch of random words put together!"

"Sush, Yrral, they dont have to know that."

The Azgaurdish 'Reaserchers' were quite a sight to see, as they dexturously drew amazing pictures of the creatures on modern artapads, while saying the stupedest things about them.

Standing tall over the group were another small group of Azgaurds, they were among the very few who actually looked like they knew what they were doing. As the agily dodged around plants and animals, while making sure that no one got lost, or bickered... too much. They were the organisers.

"So, Rodney, this trek is going suprisingly well, dont you think?"

"Yeah, Tommy, we havent had to save anybody or anything, and no one is complaining about the surroundings... yet."

"Well, Larry, i am personally enjoying this nice little walk."

"Yep, Henry, though it looks like the sun is getting pretty low in the sky."

"I agree, Larry, I hope there will be a decent place to sleep pretty soon."

Indeed these organised organisers were correct, the sun was getting low, let us hope the procession will find a resting spot soon.

The mis-matched group made their way further through the deep jungles. Lifting themselves through deep muck and through heavily vined areas, they found no true respite from the horrible living stuff. It only got worse as the sun began to dip behind the tree-topped horizon. It looked like it was about to become pitch-black...

...Then, all of a sudden, a breach could be seen in the jungle. With a cry of disbelief, they made a mad rush for the safety it might provide.

Breaking through the jungle-line, they were met with a large, empty spot, roughly flat, and devoid of bushes and trees. How such an area cam about, surrounded in more jungle, they could only guess, but the important thing was that there was an area to set up camp.

A large amount of shouting, pushing, shoving, stumbling, lifting, nailing, and cursing sprang up, as the organizers directed the mobs of colonists to grab building materials piece-meal from the supply vehicles, and slap up some shelters quick-like. The darkness brought with it a lot of scary noises, which in turn suggests a connection to scary creatures.

As the first shelters went up, and people began to crowd under their simple rooves, silence descended over the mass. Not a word was spoken, but you could almost feel the sense of being watched.

Indeed, the Colonists were being watched, but none of the scary monsters, and not-scary monters, that were watching them daren come out into the open. In fact, you might say the whole planet pretty much had a very bad case of agoraphobia.

As more and more shelters went up, more and more people got places to hide. Eventaully, the shelters got more and more advanced, and by the time everyone was about to collapse from exaustion... the organisers finnally made the announcement.

"Alright, everone, good work, and good night"

Said one of them, and everyone eagerly collaspsed onto beds and other sleeping places.

The night slowly passed by.

Slowly....
Slowly.... slowly slowly slowly slowly...

and then...

MORNING!!

Just as the huge, florecent red sun peaked over the horizan, there was a loud and quite horrible BAM! BAM! BAM! sound, it quite effectively woke everyone up at once.

Except, of course, Frakutsk.. he was still asleep. Suprizingly, no one seemed to notice, they all knew what to do.

The next task at hand was improving the living enviornment, people started erecting bigger buildings, but that was not all that was needed.

a group of about 50 of the most able-bodied settlers had the hardest task of all, they now were listening patiantly to the head oragize's speach...

"You have the hardest task of all", he said, "Your job is, essentialy, to create a GIANT platform above the treetops. This will not be easy. We have brought huge disks to be used as the main ground, but they cannot hover on their own. You will need to use collums to support them, these are aboard the transports. The disks are now in the transports as well... good luck"

The special workers also had some tools aboard the transports... Giant hovercars capable of supporting hundrends of tons, but not for a very long time, these could be used to put the disks in place, but not hold them there.

They had a very hard job, but they were determained to do it right.

----------

meanwhile, a group of explorers were... exploring. as they wandered farther and farther away, they saw bigger and bigger creatures, none of which were too hostile, but could prove to be a problem to the building crew. As the galactic organazation of naturelists would have nothing of destroying wild life and killing the animals... The building plan was that organazation's idea in the first place.

One particular creature cought the explorer's attention, it was more than 50 feet high, and resembled a gorrilla. The explorers came up with a completely origanal name for it, they called it "God Tzilla"

Suddenly, the still-sleeping frakutsk awoke with a start. It took him a few moments to get back into reality, then he looked slowly out the window.

What the heck?! It was bright outside! And it didnt get bright here until... Too late!

Frakutsk jumped into his commander's outfit and after walking through the instant-super-cleaner-thingy, raced outside into the blinding sunlight to see what was happening.

To his suprise, things had gone on quite smoothly without him. He regarded the ever-expanding metal ground that was going to be home to thousands of (amazingly freaking more - than - anyone - else - could - possible - even - imagine super duper wow bang pow bam you - get - the - picture uber-LAZY) ORS people.

Suddenly, a strange something grabbed frakutsk and knocked him out...

Frakutsk awoke in a chamber so dark he couldent see anything.... Even when he opened his eyes.

Instictly, he stood up and twirled his light saber around. Not suprisingly, that didnt help, though it did create a small amount of light.

Frakutsk looked around by the light of his light saber. The walls of this "room" were made of dirt, and it was cold and damp. Frakusk assumed he was under ground. However, there also seemed not to be any walls to the front or to the back.

Now, frakutsk thought, should i go forwards or backwars? It seemed that any one trapping him would assume he would go forward. All the more reason to go backward.

Frakutsk turned around and started walking slowly, his light saber still active.

After an undifined time of walking like this, Frakutsk hit a dead end.

He stomped his foot his frustration.

He fell through the floor.

He landed on more dirt.

He lifted his hand to his head to see if there had been any damage. There seemed to be none. Frakutsk this time had no choice but to walk forward, though his sence of direction told him he was still going away from his starting posistion.

He walked that way for a few more moments until something blocked his path. He assumed it was just a rock so he kicked it. That was not good.

The "rock" uncurled itself. Then it stood up.

Frakutsk did not recognise its' species at first sight. It was a strange type of bug, resembling a mix between a centipede and a potato bug, buffed to 100 times that size.

Frakutsk rolled his eyes. His force awarness senced no conciousness about the bug. It was either a robot, or something equally lifeless.

He twirled his lightsaber once more and slashed at the bug, expecting it to be sliced it two.

Much to Frakutsk's suprise, the bug did not get sliced in two but rather....

Frakutsk's lightsaber bouned off it!

So... frakutsk tryed force-pushing it. That worked. It smashed into the cave wall, a fell to the floor in neat little robot-parts.

a voice could be heard from the distance... 2250 words to go.... pick up the pace, man ...

Frakutsk shook his head, its easy to imagine things in the dark. HE pushed onward... and onward and onward and onward and onward and onward and onward and onward and onward down and down and down and up and up and left and right and left and right and round and round and you get the picture until finnally he came to a door. He opened the door.

He saw a room, in this room were huge iron chain saws slicing and dicing the air, gargantuan hammers pounding the ground where one would need to step. Overall, it looked like a scene from prince of persia. Frakutsk didnt have a dagger that could control time, but he did have the force, which was almost as good, if not better.

Frakutsk concentrated on letting the force flow through him, he was suprised to see how easily the force was to grasp on this planet, and he started force-speeding (does that work as a word? force-speeding, lol...).

He dexterously- for a gungan -avoided all the traps and skillfully maneuvered to the other side of the room and opened the door.

"What took you so long??"

Said a big, ugly, bug-thing wearing a "Flopknights" T-shirt, who was sitting behind a table covered in strange monster-figures sitting on a fake jungle-turf.

"I mean, all you had to do was take a few steps forward..."

Frakutsk smacked his forehead... by the force, why DIDNT he go forward?

"So, up for a game of Flopknights? If you win, ill give you this shiny Jedi-Thing... you dont get to game much on an uninhabited planet"

Frakutsk frowned, he had played flopknights some in his youth, but never got really good at it.

"Sure, mesa play you."

Frakutsk pushed a few buttons on his side of the table -- spending 90 points for an army -- and his creatures appeared. So did... The other guy's. Somehow, Frakutsk was sure that he had spent more then 90 points, but no matter.

The... other guy's... creatures charged at frakutsk. However, being a Jedi, frakutsk made his creatures dexterously avoid all the attacks, and then stab a few times before hopping toward the other side of the board.

Frakutsk's creatures, mostly short guys with long pikes, danced around a bit before the... other guy's... creatures, mostly big, lumbering monsters, charged at them again. So, frakutsk impaled the monsters on his pikes, like any sensable person would do. The... other guy... lost.

"NO FAIR!"

"Mesa when, givesa cool Jedi thing, now?"

"NO! REMATCH!'
