Clash of the Titans (Assault on Mon Calamari)

Lord Voltimas gave no response outwardly to the communication he had received. He turned to the communications officer.

"No reply, of any sort. Not even static. Let them come to the conclusion that we have heard them but simply choose not to respond."

The holonet transmission receiver on Gash Jiren's desk began to flash red quite early in the Ossan morning. So early, in fact, that it woke him from a slight slumber; without thinking, he hit the activation button which brought up the incoming transmission. As consciousness returned to him, it began to register that the receiver was a private line; any signal coming to it would likely be from the OIA.

It wasn't. "Jiren," Gash said.

"I've got some news, and you're not going to like it," Came a deep, throaty voice. Obviously human. "You're alone?"

"Who is this?" Gash asked suspiciously.

"Nehtraes." The voice said. Gash instantly recognized the code word; only the highest ranking intelligence operatives knew it. It was the reverse of Gash's real name, 'Searthen'. Even most OIA operatives didn't know it; only darker, more shadowy sources did.

The call was obviously from an Foreign Security Office agent. FSO appeared to be an inconspicuous subsidiary of the OIA dealing primarily with monitoring the position foreign hostiles in Ossan territory, yet served specifically as the hand -- or more accurately, ears and eyes -- of Gash Jiren and his right-hand man, Kasien Treseda.

"What is it?"

"The Chiss."

Gash's voice lowered instantly. "Our old friends, or newer ones?"

"The newer variety." The voice replied. "They're at Mon Calamari. They have a gun pointed at the head of the planet. At the head of the CLF in general, actually."

Gash said nothing for a moment. "I don't know anything about the dealings of the coalition, remember? Nor do I wish to become overly involved in the dealings of infant governments wishing to replace the Republic."

"Sure." The voice said, knowing, in fact, that the FSO had kept a close watch on the Coalition of Lightside Factions from day one -- a covert watch which violated most laws of the Ossan government. "I'm just telling you. You don't have to do anything."

Another momentary pause. "How bad is this going to be, civilian-wise?"

For a moment, the voice said nothing. Then, "Bad."

Gash nodded, and cut the transmission.

Kamon was in his office when a buzzer rang. He realized it was an incoming call.

"Kamon here." He said.

"Axis"

Kamon realized it was intel calling. Axis was the code name for his intel division. Part of special ops under Jace's command.

"Allies."

"Bad news, sir."

"How bad?"

"Very. The Coalition is under assault at Mon Calamari."

"What?! By whom?"

"The Chiss."

"I knew Xilen was up to something. We must send aid."

"Not a good idea, sir. We've come across information that seems to suggest that the whole thing is staged. We think its a diversion. We think they're after someone else and that someone may be us."

"Damn. Does everyone hate me? I'm the favorite target of everyone on this galaxy."

"It does seem that way. Well, I thought you should know."

"Thanks. Send a ground team to Mon Cal to help out."

"Yes, sir. Special Ops?

"Black Ops."

"Yes, sir. Axis out."

"Allies out."

This is not good.

The Coalition fleets had begin to arrive right on time, massing together in a defensive posture between the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet's First Division, and the water world of Mon Calamari. Communications ran silent, only the faint snap-crackle of the communication link's dead silence potent in the still, manufactured air aboard the Defender-Class Star Destroyer's command bridge.

"Spring the trap." Xilen spoke casually, returning to the black leather command chair behind him, overlooking the viewing port, the large Mon Calamari cruisers bearing before him, defiant and arogant, awaiting destruction.

Within a few seconds, the Devistation, Abomination, Savage, and Mourning appeared out of hyperspace at the flanks of the Coalition warfleet, there fighters launched, and poised aggressively. Should a battle break out at that very second, the Coalition would be cut to pieces in the cross fire.

As Emperor Fearsons shuttle docked aboard the Spirit of Csilla, Xilen once again opened a channel.

"Mister Teebo, you know I am a man of my word. Surrender, and we can end this incident before it turns into bloodshed."

Xilen looked at his tactical officer, a brief nod exchanged between them. "At this moment, Second Division should be coming out of hyperspace above your beloved Ando, with another poised for a strike on Tholatin. I'm expecting friends shortly..." Xilen paused, a soft grin crossing his lips. "Perhaps you'd like to greet personally them when they arrive?"

Regrad looked from one ship to the other. In his opinion it was still possible, if, however, unlikely, that they could win through this battle.

He had a choice. If he fired, the battle would begin and it would not stop until one side was destroyed.

If he surrendere, though, his fleet would go home. But sooner or later they would find him. They were united now, and this was their best chance.

He opened a line to his fleet.

"All ships, prepare for immeadiet action. Await the Mon Calamari's choice. If he says fight, we open fire. If he says surrender, we fight anyways with everything we've got and kill as much as possible."

"Duty above life. Honur above Duty. Freedom above honour"

He slouched at the magnitude of the order.

"Charge guns and shields. Launch fighters. Prepare to fire once the Mon Calamari respond."

The fleet moved away from Tholatin. Radon nodded to Kenshin. They were on their way to an undisclosed location.

The whole fleet jumped, then the wait began.

--------------------------------------------

The Hope came out of hyperspace and Kamon saw the severity of what was happening. A stand off between major factions. It wasn't a pretty sight.

The Hope blasted towards an Azguard gunship as was designated. His mission was simple. Assault Xilen. That was the easy part. The hard part would come before that.

The Hope docked with the Azguard war vessel, and Kamon left it. The hope then left the dock. It made its way away from the enemy and jumped back to Tholatin.

Kamon headed for the bridge to talk with the commanding officer.

(OOC: The post I did above Chadds' was just a note I did when I remembered that I had no shields and weapons prepared. THIS is my battle post)

The azguard general waited. If Teebo wasn't firing, he was.

He took time to notice a Corellian gunship arriving at the edge of his system, holding some interesting cargo.

"All fighters Lock onto Devistation and fire your missels at their front shields. Oriflame, fire in two burts; right guns then left guns, repeat, right before the missels. Then, all frigates and Mike, unload all guns, Fire At Will!!!"

The lasers from the mighty warship streaked space a mix of red and blue and green. They struck in two volleys, decimating the shields. Then the missels streamed from the Tie Defenders, ninety in total, shielded by the waves of lasers infront of them, hit home and eliminated the shields in a blast of shrapnel and flame. Some made it past to Drag smears of fire alongside the hulls.

Then came the scatter fire. Three frigates and the Impstar Flagship loosed barrage after barrage into the hull, pocketing it with explosions. The ship remained in one piece but another such round of fire would surely annihalate it.

The battle begun.

(OOC: See the OOC thread for the facts on why I have to take over MCR right now)

Reep Kreeon Steeled himself for this battle. The Emperor could not respond to the situation, so he did.

As the Azguard opened fire, He spotted on his radar the sight of an MC-40. It was the vessel they had situated around Kamino, these were all his ships.

"All mon Calamari Ships, shields up! All fighters, lock onto the Abomination and knock out its' shields. The rest of you, advance and open fire!"

His 250+ MC-10s followed his orders. More then Five hundred missels streamed from the little fighters and impacted on the Hull. It was only a second before the shields wavered and fell. The remaining missels popped small holes of flames around the ships' surface.

Then the MC 90 and the two MC 40s next to charged ahead. They let out all their guns on the one ship, leaving it battered terribly. It could not hold up long, and once dead it would reduce their numbers dramatically.

Lord Voltimas signaled his communications officer.

"Open a channel."

As it was commanded, a channel was opened to the capital ships of every fleet. The message was sent in full holo.

A vision of darkness, cloaked in death black, appears in the holo. His face hidden by the cloak he wears.

"Greetings, warriors. I am Lord Voltimas of the Crimson Allegiance. I shall make a brief statement, await replies, and then decide which side of this battle my fleet will stand on, if any.

First I shall address the Chiss.

Your race has been for some time now renowned for it's tactical genius. This may be true, however, I find your logic lacking. You threaten the genocide of this world yet it is obvious that is not your wish. You wish this world instead subjugated. This is not a new idea nor is it all together a bad idea. However, you threaten what you do not wish to do. I find this odd and cowardly.

If you wish to wipe these creatures from the face of the galaxy, do it. If you do not.. say so. Inform them of what their lives will be like should they refuse you. Should they refuse use military force to make them see the light. However, genocide gains you nothing. Unless, of course, you merely wish to be rid of this race of creatures. If that is so, once more I say.. do it.

To the Coalition.

Cowardly little creatures you are. You await an enemy attack before responding, even after being threatened and told to surrender. It is doubtful I would choose to fight on the side of cowards. If you believe your cause is right and just, do what you must to prevail. Do not wait to be attacked but outwardly defend yourselves against this villainy.

Each side of this war has something to lose and something to gain. However, from where I sit and watch.. you are both more likely to lose than to gain anything.

I await your replies, but I do not wait long. Signal me within the hour, before I grow tired of this display and move to another location."

With that, the transmission faded then cut.
