(OOC:If you wish to enter this RP, IM me over AIM. Basically you can expect to be allowed enterance if you have had dealings with Hapes in the past, or if you wish to pay hommage to the new Queen Mother of Hapes. If you can't contact me, just jump in, but remember, no fighting etc.
Your first post should be entering the Ballroom from the Queen Mothers Gardens to greet the Royal entourage, before continuing on to the party.)
Hapes is a very wealthy and old society. That has had little contact with the rest of the galaxy for more than 3,000 years. Encompassing 100's of governments and thousands of cultures, the Cluster was first settled thousands of years ago by pirates-- the Lorell Raiders-- who seized beautiful women to be their mates. Male descendents continued as pirates for generations until their forces were decimated by the Jedi Knights. Women then took control of the Cluster, and the inherited leadership title of Queen Mother was initiated. The first Queen Mother began construction on Star Home, an enormous castle like spaceship, about 3,000 years before Galactic civil War. Successive Queen Mother's brought other changes to the Hapan Culture, especially Teneniel Djo, who began the process of integrating Dathomirian and Hapan cultures together.
The Fountain Palace on the planet Hapes is home to the Hapan royal family. In emergencies, they go to the secure stronghold of Reef Fortress , which is on an isolated island accessible only by boat. Hapan naval space forces include the feared Battle Dragons; for use on oceans, Hapani use the Hapan Water Dragon.
Relating to Nature: The Hapan culture goes back almost unchanged to the very first days of their civilization. For starters, the Hapans are very nature loving and aware of their surroundings. Unlike many civilizations the Hapans have always built around and with the nature on their planet, which is the reason why Hapes is one of the loveliest planets around. Lots of time and energy is put in to the caring of their plants, forests and other natural surroundings. The Hapans also are very fond of flowers, especially roses. There are all sorts of roses on Hapes, from red, yellow and the normal colors to a blue rose that changes red when it is touched. Next to the very honorable jobs such as in the military and government are the jobs that take care of their great gardens.
Honor: Honor and pride are also a very large part of Hapan society. If a Hapan gives you his/her honorable word that he/she will hold a promise, then not even in the face of death will he/she break it. This has proven to be one of the backbones in Hapan culture that has been a solid building stone for both the civilian side of life as well as the military. Although the Hapans are peaceful, they still hold a very powerful military, it's only task is to protect their borders from pirates and smugglers trying to get Hapan artifacts out to sell on the black market. The Hapans, however, set a brutal example when it comes to such a situation; killing or taking prisoner those attempting to sneak into the Cluster. No prisoner has yet lived to tell a tale.
Of course honor also puts huge support on the Hapan monarchy. A Hapan officer would rather die for his/her Queen, than survive the fight in which the Queen dies. To fight for the Queen, or to be in the royal military, is alone considered an honor. The Royal Honor Guard, this is the Queen's body/personal guard, are very much favored. Should a Royal Honor Guard die whilst saving the Queen's life, they and their family are blessed for over three generations to come.
Slavery/Slaves: Although Dathomir used to enslave men, that was abolished completely, especially with New Republic influence. Slaves, if found on ships entering Hapan space unauthorized, are freed and given asylum within Hapan borders, or allowed to return home in peace. Slavers, however, are often given brutal treatment when captured. Slavery is an abhorrent activity to the Hapan people, and not even tolerated. If visiting other cultures (which would be rare if at all) that condone slavery, Hapans are highly offended and either stop all trade with that culture, sometimes even going to war with them to end this travesty.
Difference between Hapan and Humans: Hapan are humans which are native to the planet Hapes. They differ from normal humans in two ways. First, they are considered quite handsome and beautiful as a race. Second, they are unable to see well in the dark because of the fact that the planet Hapes is continually bathed in light, either from its sun or from the seven moons that orbit the planet.
Homeworld: Hapes was originally settled by a group of pirates called the Lorell Raiders, the planet Hapes later became a neutral system when the Jedi Knights wiped out the Raiders when they started making raids into Old Republic supply centers. The surviving women swore never to let a man run the government following this defeat. This also began the anti-Jedi sentiment seen on Hapes today. The system was later overrun by the Empire, but Ta'a Chume (the Queen Mother at the time) built a powerful armed force and drove the Imperials out. The planet orbits the star Hapes, and has been the seat of the Hapan government for as long as anyone can remember. The planet has seven moons. The average day on Hapes lasts 22 standard hours, and the year on Hapes encompasses 240 local days.
Special: The Hapans are known for their belligerence. Hapan also have highly-polished black armor with silver trim, that is worn by the cyborg warriors from Charubah.
Language: Hapan
Traditions: Hapan women are more highly represented than the men. Men are lucky to be allowed in the military. Hapan royal women, or noblewomen, are allowed to take as many husbands as they like. Some women don't bother with marriage ceremonies for some of their men, which is looked on with tolerance. The wealthier and more prestigious the woman, usually the larger harem of men. It has become a sign of status for women of such stature to have more than one man by which to have heirs by. Female heirs are highly prized whereas male heirs are often married to female heirs of other Houses to help strengthen one's House with wealth and family connections.
Leadership Roles: The leader of each House is responsible for delivering justice to the people she rules over. She also must protect the family honor and deal out punishment (sometimes even death) to those who would commit crimes against her family, lands, and people. She cannot show sympathy in these matters, or else show herself to be too weak to protect those the House is sworn to. Any Lady unable to deliver proper punishment is charged with treason to her House and people by the Queen Mother and the Royal Council and banished from her House to a lower position (such as field worker or House servant). The House will then go to the next heir or allowed to be absorbed into another House.
Chances are as each member of the galactic elite received their invitations to a massive Gala event on the planet Hapes, they would have looked at something like this. Hapes and the Cluster itself were unique, both in history and future. And one of the most beautiful things about Hapes, apart from the Hapans themselves, was the Fountain Palace.
The Fountain Palace is truly one of the most beautiful and oldest buildings in the galaxy. Its sprawling layout includes room for over 500 dignitaries and their attendant support staff in exhultant luxury. Thousands of servants and guards maintain the Palace in the name of the Queen Mother and the ruling Crowned Prince, toiling day and night to maintain it to their ancient satisfaction. Most spectacular of all the rooms in the Palace is the Fountain Ballroom. It lies adjacent to the Royal Dining Room, and overlooks the massive gardens of the Queen Mother TaaChume through massive 'walls' of the purest Crystal, reaching up 10 metres to the ornate roof of the structure. The intricate golden platinum outlook of the Ballroom, along with its size, makes it one of the most aweinspiring places in the galaxy to dine and dance the night away.
And tonight the celebrations would be on the most regal scale possible, as it was the presentation to the greater galaxy of the new Queen Mother, Jasmine Darksword.
