A nod of his head and a smile could only show his agreement with her words as he watched her turn her head away. If there was one thing with his daughter it was that she caught on rather quickly with things. She was as intelligent as her mother was. Most definately that trait had not come from him. As smart as he'd like to say he was, he wasn't.

"Very good. That is the danger of letting our emotions control us. But emotions can be a powerful ally as well. Love, trust, friendship. Those things can help keep you alive in a battle. There are many others, of course, but there are still those that can harm like anger and hate.

"Those two both stem from fear and can both affect your mind and subsequently your actions. I've let anger run away with me before when my sister was killed by pirates.. I should probably tell you about her..."

Telling her about his sister was not something he had planned to do ever. The memories were rough as it were and some of the details were a bit foggy anymore. Besides, it wasn't important to anyone but him and his brother because they were the only ones alive that had actually known Leelie. The others were either dead in the Dragon's raid on the planet or had been killed by Zerxes.

A hand lifted towards his face and wiped a bit of sleep from his eyes before he glanced back to the mountains. It was starting to get late and they'd have to get some sleep soon if they planned on leaving in the morning. Regardless, he had to tell her this now that he'd mentioned it. Wasn't fair for him not to.

"I had an adopted sister that was a few years older than me. My father adopted her before he married my mother. Her name was Leelie. She'd been homeless on a distant planet and my father was drawn to her so he adopted her as his own.

"After Zerxes killed my parents, your grandparents, she went missing. I knew she didn't go with my brother. She wouldn't go with him because she didn't like him. Thus, I knew something was afoot. I didn't find out until years later when a tip reached me that she'd been taken prisoner by pirates. I immediately went to her aide.

"But when I got there she was already dead. Only recently killed. Apparantly they'd used her as bait to get me to come. Only thing they didn't figure on was the fact that I snapped when I saw my sister and subsequently killed every single pirate that I laid eyes on.."

A small sigh escaped him and he shook his head.

"It was not a good thing, Amarie."

Every conversation now would probably become a lesson in which for her to learn. It wouldn't really matter that Amarie had an aunt who was murdered before she herself had a real chance to meet her on her own. The only thing that would matter was precisely what they were discussing, which was the price a person would pay if they let their own emotions rule them, instead of the other way around.

It was the danger of any trained force-user, reguardless of how they handled the gift they were born with, and even imagined that the sith would have that problem as well, but Amarie mentally shook that thought away. It wouldn't do either of them much good to dwell on such things.

The situation with her late aunt, as he described it was exactly as he said, a terrible thing. All Amarie would guess is that the woman wouldn't want to be remembered for the events that ended up transpiring. The only important matter was that she lived.

"I'd agree with you on that..I just hope I'll be able to handle things a little differently if something similar comes up."
