Seriously though, I like to be among quality writers and I am among them here. I also prefer to write in a place where I feel that someone is actually reading it.
Although it has already been said, what drew me to TRF was the Epic feel.
I have RPed at other boards (the board I started at I Rped at for 3 years or longer) but none have the same depth in their plotlines, nor the quality of writers at TRF. None of them have rules and guidlines as effective as TRFs. No one has as annoyin... wonderful people as TRF does. ;)
Plus, on TRF, the quality of the writing doesn't force you to maintain a be constantly, every-single-second-of-your life on the board level of activity to stay involved.
Considering how rarely I do write anything other than OOC here, I probably shouldn't comment on this, but I will anyways :b since this seems to be largely a 'why are you here' question.
Mainly, I'm here for the community.
When I first came online, about 7 years ago, I stayed away from any sort of communication with people not my family. Then I got brave, ignored my parental lectures on the evils of chatting online, and checked out a chat room. Within a matter of weeks I was in a large group of like minded people hanging out and generally just having a good time talking and chatting. I enjoyed it and found an audience for my writing, which I'd never had before. I write fantasy mostly, it was a fiction book room I hung out in, and I really liked the feedback.
From there, I moved to a fantasy RPing site. It was one of the best communities I've ever came across online and there is still alot of emotion involved concerning the people who hung out there. Hell, I met my fiancee through people on that site. I made alot of friends, a handful of them that I'm still in daily contact with, and my writing really got better for being there. I honestly recommend online roleplaying for helping round out a character and make them less flat and one dimenisional. But, alas, that community died through a series of soap opera like promises and deals that still hasn't completely stopped today. It was such a tight knit community that the problems rolled over into offline life and since I spent almost 5 years hanging out there I still miss it. The only thing TRF lacks of being a carbon copy of the place is a regular and very busy chat room. Oh, and less fighting and name calling. We were always very polite when we fought like cats and dogs over there :b
After that, I told myself I didn't want anything to do with another large RP group, I'd write for myself and nothing more.
Within a few days I was sucked into the world of SW's roleplaying. A friend from the fantasy land, Ryan, invited me over to TGC and I ended up joining the Marzullo's. Which I would consider a mistake except for the fact that I met Sean there and since he is still my friend, it was worth it. I stayed at the Marzullo's as long as I did for the feel of a close knit community they had perfecedt the art of pretending to be. It really wasn't, since at the first signs of trouble people were banned and the place generally fell apart.
I again told myself I was staying away from online RP but I trailed after Sean to TGC and hung out there still, with a character that, while having a differant name and attitude, was just the same as Damalis. Terrace Cambridge was her name and I think I may have written one or two actual writing threads with her. I wanted to write, but every time I did the thread would die soon afterwards. It's a curse I have yet to break. Damalis was made to join a Jedi group, but once that happened, she just developed into something so unlike a Jedi that I actually removed her from her training, of which Leia was doing an excellent job. When TRF broke off and formed I really had no interest in changing RP places until Sean went. I'm sickingly loyal sometimes and since he was leaving, I went too. I was horribly surprised to end up an admin about 6 months later, but TRF had already become my community of choice long before that.
So, why do I write at TRF? Because it's my home online.
I write here because SWG reinited my love for Star Wars and other SW boards I joined went belly up soon after I joined them :(
Besides that I enjoy writing in general, creating my own worlds or as it is in this case trying to figure out how another world works. By writing I gradually fill in those gaps of information and hope to impress a few readers along the way :)
