Way I see it? At least we take care of them up to the point they're eaten. That's gotta be worth SOMETHING anyways.
Oddly enough, there are people who think it makes sense to feed, shelter, and care for a cow, but would sneer at a homeless person on the street. I think its' because you're not allowed to eat homeless people.
