What the heck is wrong with me?

Scary story:

I was driving home from UWSP, the place where i was a Suzuki camp for two weeks, hence me being gone. It was extremely late, but the drive was going fine...

Then, i drove past this truck, the truck had holes in it, and through the holes you could see a bunch of cows...

At first, i smiled, and said, "Cows!". Then, slowly (this was VERY late at night) i realized where the cows were going...

The poor innocent things were (obviously) being trucked away, knowledgelessly to their most certain and defencless death.

It is neccesary to stop here and say that i am no vegetarian, i eat meat all the time and live with this kind of thing without giving it a second though. We all know that this is happening everywhere, all the time.

But something about that situation just really struck me... and i completely broke down and just... cried.

Seriously, i cried! I'm a grown teenage guy, usually pretty hard-shelled... but seeing these cute innocent creatures who were sitting happily there while being driven to their death just made me completely brake down and cry. It was all i could do to stop from slamming my car into the trucker... who was overweight and smoking a cigarette. If my mom hadnt been there (shut up) i probably would have.

I'm not a vegetarian either, I'm all patatoes and no meat when it comes to my political stances. The bottom line is that if it is a pain in the ass to do, I generally don't do it. Hence the whales being dead.

However, I never go on tours of farmland, shit like that. I don't believe in scare tactic activism and I never will. I don't want to see a bunch of things lined up for the slaughter, animal or otherwise. It is disturbing and yeah, it can feel guilty.

I reccomend in the future, you just kill the farmedr. Much easier then pointed self-reflection.

I've killed two today. :\

Cows = food. I try not to think of how they become it.

Right, kyric, i try not to think about it either. But late at night when at suddenly pulls up infront of your face... its kind of hard not to think about, and very painful when you do. Under normal circumstances, it would not have pained me so... but uh... yeah...

My uncle used to own a slaughterhouse for chickens and I worked there.

I dont have as much trouble with mindless chickens... but i would still never have anything to do with killing them.

I know what you mean, it hit me once too, while killing barn swallows (buggers poop all over everything in the barn). One moment, the bird is chirping and happy, the next moment it's dead, with a BB in its chest.

Life is fragile.
