Yeah, but scaling also presents some annoyances for people who really like to role play. At level one, you can go kill the Grand Champion of the Arena with minimal difficulty, but at level 66, a cougar will still tear the hell out of you because with level scaling it has 600 hit points and a massive attack. Is that logical?
My only complain is the uber-loot. Granted, there are a few badass weapons *cough*Umbra*cough* that you can find through searching, most of the items are scaled for your character. It kind of takes away the mystic feel of the "Holy shit look at this item!" Plus, if you get it when your level 10, it'll suck when your 20 cause the stats dont change.

Not a fan of scaling. Instanced, yes, but we're not MMO'd here, eh.

I've been playing Oblivion on my 360 for a while now, and I have to admit it's pretty good; it's one of the most enjoyable games I've played for a while now, but at the same time with constant gameplay comes constant bugs and loading errors...
So far, in my character's 26 leveled life, I've run into three major bugs in the system; each posing a game stopping effect that made me thankful I had multiple saves at different levels prior. The latest being a Fighters Guild mission, in which some of the pre-scripted story coding didn't load, and therefore I am (literally) stuck in a mid-mission limbo with no chance of passing it; the character I need(ed) to speak with doesn't bring up the required conversational lines I need to pass the quest... and as it stands, I didn't have a save game prior to that bug.
For those wondering it's the quest of hunting down Blackheart, where you must get his golden ring and speak to Oeryn (or something-a-rather).
So now I can't advance in the Fighters Guild anymore, I'm stuck with a constant live (yet annoyingly dead) quest with no end, and if I wish to unlock the Game Points on the 360 for becoming the Fighters Guild leader, I need to make another character... much annoyance.
BUT, other than that, it's all good.
...oh. Except the Oblivion gates suck balls. Especially after having to go through one for each major city, which becomes a bit boring and very, very repetitive. And boring... did I mention boring?
My character, although, is quite the jack-of-all-trades (as most turn out to be). So far he's a Dark Elf, Dark Brotherhood, Thieves Guild, Mage Guild, Vampire Hunters Leader, who's also the Arena Champion, White Stallion Knights member, Kvatch Champion who is just shy of leading the Fighters Guild... and has every stat above 80, and has a whopping 137 to Sneak when I wear my special 'assassin-y' gear.
He started out as (basically) Assassin class, though I altered some options to suit my own needs, and created a 'user made class'... meh.
...stupid Oblivion Gates. I tend to pass one every few days now, as they've stopped my need to play so often, as it were.

Word. Which is why I love First Person Shooters.

Vance, have you become a Vampire yet?
I was a vampire in Morrowind. Delicious.

I tried it out, yeah. It's cool how you can break into people's houses and suck their necks while they sleep. I was considering going for the vampire, but... I might do it with another character at a later time.
Have you played the Morrowind extension? Tribunal and... the other one with the werewolf? Werewolf isn't bad, it's rather amusing, but can get you into hella trouble if you change at night in any towns, heh.

One other thing about it was the "Physics Effects". I like the way I could push something over, but my God, taken to far. I'd walk into a house, and it would be like a tornado tearing through someone's home. I'd touch a table, and the contents of it would shoot across the house, and the house owner would threaten to call the guards if I didn't leave.
It also disabled the ability to place items. That was something I like about Morrowind. i could put swords on walls and make my house look all pretty.

It was so great to finally get your manor in Morrowind, and then being able to decorate it with your loot. You can't do that in Oblivion?

I guess you technically could, but it would require the finesse of a master thief, and the patience of Yoda.
In Morrowind, you had a crosshair in the center of your screen, and when you dropped an item, it would be set exactly where that crosshair was. Due to the new Physics Engine, which is fething brilliant I must say, it sort of...tosses the items. So trying to get some apples to go into a bowl (Which I spent over thirty minutes trying to do) is nigh impossible. You remember those games where you had to throw the rings over the cups, but the rings were only about a fraction of a centimete larger than the cups? its like that.
Except infinantly more aggrivating.

You guys will really find anything to bitch about.
"I can't put the fucking apples in the bowl, mother fuckers."
Talk about picking something apart. If that's the most you can bitch about you know you've got a damn good game.
But on that note... yeah, I know what you mean about the physics being a bit wack at times. In a particular guard tower in some city where I was investigating a stolen painting when I would bump into a chandelier (sp) it would just go totally ape shit for the next 20 seconds.
