I can't wait until we invade Iran and I get drafted and I get to die for something I don't believe in, under the commmands of a man that I did not vote for, but our country elected twice.

Master Ahnk
It's not that they're not voting for them because they have no chance, it's because everyone knew it was going to be close and voting for Switzerland in the Germany/Canada election would have been as good as a thrown away vote and a nod for the impending fascist regime.

The only wasted vote is the one not cast.

I doubt we'll be going after Iran, we don't exactly have much in the way of an army left...

I'm still young and inexperienced with elections, so this one bad result has made me no more cynical. America might have it tough for four more years, but then Bush will be out for sure and they'll elect someone else, perhaps someone with ability.

*Shrug* Could be worse.

Syria is a much more likely candidate for invasion.

*Dances in the street now that Bush has won*

I highly doubt it was blind ignorance that led to Bush being re-elected. Alot of people voted for him because they saw him as the lesser of two evils. I'm certainly not about to fault anyone or call them blind sheep simply because they voted for who they thought would be the more suitable individual. Granted, I do admit that there are extremes in both parties, and they will vote for their side no matter what, but there are alot of people in the country today that are pretty dang moderate, and are doing what they feel to be best for our country. After all, it's their constitutional right.

However, I am curious about something; if you were a Democrat or a Republican, and someone from the opposing party had no way to get to the polls, would you offer to drive them?

No, but not because of political affiliations. I'm just a prick.

Democracy is about everyone being able to vote. So yes - otherwise you're essentially denying someone their right to vote. Or I would just say "fuck it, I won't go either", and then it would equal out. ;)

Well the reason I asked, was because someone on Fans was saying how he took some elderly folks to the polls with him so that they could vote, and a fellow Democrat told him that he'd never drive a Republican to the polls even if said person had no other way of getting there.

Frankly, I don't care if you're a Democrat or a Republican. It's that sort of attitude that disgusts me to no end, because just as you said, Demo, that is a clearcut case of denying someone their right to vote.

I simply wanted to know who else would even think to do such a thing.
