The first hour or so is like "Sim Eastern Europe Immigrant", and I love it.
Niko's actually likeable, his motivations make sense, his descent into crime is gradual and sympathetic (Well, admittedly, once he starts shooting cops...), the game gives you some choice with regards to the grittier depths of crime, and the facial animation work is impressive - in some of the cutscenes it looks like you're watching a hard-boiled crime drama, not a video game. Niko's expressive features while talking about the war in the opening cinematics really drew me in.

I just had a cop grab on to my helicopter on take-off. He hung on for a good while, I got way up there, before he bailed letting go.
Funniest moment ever? No.
But it would have been pretty amusing to see the landing.

I car jacked someone, and he grabbed the car door handle, before being dragged along for about 3 miles... then I knocked him off by running his side of the car into a light pole.
