I was going to say, I saw a Beowulf film in Blockbuster last month in the new release section.

And did anyone ever see The 13th Warrior or whatever that one was called? Not particularly about Beowulf, but included a character by his name, Rhothgar (sp? the King), and a race called the Grendel, with lots of parallels to the book.

If that was with Antonio Banderas, then I did.

13th Warrior is based off the book, which is about the "real' Beowulf. I read it. Boring first half. Once you are into it, it is good. As far as "300" goes, I wish it would be more historically accurate then based off the comic.

Well since the writer of the comic is directing and producing, it was bound to happen that the film is based from the comic.

13th Warrior was very much the story of Beowulf, though with the obvious change of the monster being replaced by a race of monsters, and the alteration to the ending of the original epic.

A decent film, all around, I thought. Hrothgar, btw, Hyfe. :)
