You know I've noticed from my own experiences that the Windows which usually comes bundled with new computer packages like HP, Compaq, emachine... always seem to suck and go haywire all by themselves. It's ridiculous. Within 2 months of buying my HP in 2002, I'd already had to call to get the 8 cd recovery disk set, and I'd have to say that over the course of the 2 years I had the computer before I gave up and built my own, I must have run those disks 20 times at least. A full HD wipe was like, a monthly ritual. So when I built my new computer I ditched the bundled software, went out and bought a new version of Windows XP home, and I haven't had a single problem since. Conversely, my dad bought a brand new Compaq the same summer and after many HD wipes and system crashes finally gave up and bought a new emachine, which gave it's first error message on startup the very first day he owned it. Still gives that error message too, whilst my computer continues to run reliably with no problems.
HP version of Windows: 8 cds
Windows XP Home Edition cd: 1 cd
Thats 7 cds worth of useless extra crap you will never use that will probably get messed up. Perhaps that is the problem?
Best wishes with your ailing computer Seth!!!
