Computer meltdown this weekend.
Thought I had it sorted on saturday night, but was proved wrong the following morning.
Anyhow, I can post this , which is an accomplishment in itself.
I've given up on XP, I'm installing Ubuntu, let you know how it goes, but if you don't see me for ages, then I guess you'll know its gone bad.
lol
Apologies to those whom I owe posts to, and I think thats getting on near to everyone, lol
Once this is all sorted I will be catching up.
Stay cool, don't burn the place down... :P

I want to know one thing only.
What the hell do you do to your computers? I have never had a system go into complete meltdown due to anything other than my own fiddling. Even with Windows 98 I never had the kind of problems you describe. I've installed XP Home about 5 times on two systems (one a perma-install, my moms system, the other four simply re-installs because of hardware upgrades). My laptop has XP Pro on it, and continues to run good, if a bit slower due to over a year of very heavy use. No virus, very little adware, no meltdowns....
Honestly, it's like you sacrifice a computer every six months to the internet gods.

Your tragedy touches the hearts of billions of my subjects, each more fictitious than the last. I shall demand ninety days of solid mourning from them, in honour of your computer. Sure, nonexistent millions will suffer and die, but it a small none-price to pay!
I hope it all gets sorted soon.

Ah, the wonderful scent of friend circuits and melted harddrives. Nothing more pleasing to the Internet gods. :P
