Awdin will be floating in space somewhere after being blown apart in some battle. Casus (who I've barely used), will still be stuck at that confederation border patrol getting old and decrepit.

Oh yes and Rafe Sutler should be alive, but very, very old and probably in some pseuo-nursing/retirement facility considering he'd be somewhere close to 100 years of age.

I don't know about Beff, but I for one am a little disappointed with the outcome of this thread.

I understand some of you might have put a little more thought into it, or have in the past, but didn't let on fully in this thread as to the extent of that. But some of you, I don't think took this very seriously at all. (except Coran. His was pretty dead on, detailed and accurate)

This was meant to be a thread in which you'd take some time to actually explore your character's development beyond usual restrictions within the TRF galaxy. I know I, for one, think ahead with regards to character development at least to the end of my roleplays, and often times beyond to the end of several more roleplays. Now, the fact that I never actually get around to writing any of it isn't important. This is a chance to share a little, as much as you wish, your foresight and thoughts as to where you'd like your character to go.

Beff is a prime example of the type of response I was expecting. A few paragraphs of serious reflection and discussion on where he thought his characters would be. Where they succeeded, where they failed. Trial and tribulations along the way. He took the time to think about it, and write a brief summary. Something, at least within a community of writers, wasn't too much to expect.

I was severely dissapointed with all the one to two sentence replies "So and so would be dead. lawlz." or "So and so would rule the galaxy." or "So and so would thwart so and so in ruling the galaxy, and be cool lawlz." So, in closing.

Dicks.

Well, as far as I go, I generally let my characters develop based on the stories in which they are involved. For example, Wes will be getting old, and his ambition will not have diminished, but his specific path will be based on what happens with Simon, Hyfe, Telan, and Drayson. Skygge's path is based on Ithron, Lupercus, Descartes, Vicirus, and Hyfe. Cendar...I just don't know. Jaeriel, well, depends on where the Rebellion goes.

So it's all up in the air with me. Though I legitimately could see Wes trying to take Simon's job in the future.

I'm in the boat of my future depending a lot on what happens in threads. There's a lot of paths Irtar was supposed to have taken, but he didn't. Everything is a variable.

Originally Irtar was just going to be a timid farseer with the Jedi. A specialist in techniques like divining and battle meditation. And now he's on an entirely different path than then.

In 30 years does TNO devolve to TNO or pull itself together and conquer the rest of the galaxy?

If TNO devolves, then Irtar helps out the lesser of the evils in its fight in order to take down some Sith. Maybe even earn good PR for the Jedi and re-establish themselves at the galactic 'Power Forcers' or whatever you'd like to call it.

If TNO conquers, he becomes a figure in the shadows. Trying to keep some measure of the Light alive while getting hounded. Likely eventually killed by the Sith in a dramatic last stand.

Maybe the Galaxy just remains how it is? The factions as they are just standing off against each other in an unsteady peace. Then I'd just keep doing what I'm doing and going on the odd excursion while working with Sinsang.

Perhaps a certain Sith manages to successful put Irtar to the dark side? Maybe he just dies thanks to a mistake I make next month? Maybe he gets seriously wounded and gets to sit on a Golden Throne for the rest of eternity?

The future is too grand and variable a thing to make any serious claims about. The only thing I know is at this pace, I'll likely still be writing BEA. :P

Alright, here is the first chapter of my new story that will explain (more about Coran's son, but with a bit about Coran). I hope that's enough.

The Disunion, a small Corellian ship, came out of hyperspace above Coruscant. A lone man piloted it, gunned it, and watched its systems. He had medium blonde hair, and cool blue eyes. His body was well-built as a twenty something man his age should have. He was a heart-breaker to ladies and some guys if they swung that way. He wore only his pants on-board, because the ship still didn't have a climate-control system, so he was forced to leave the engine room open. It got a little hot.

Some pilot jargon came through the muffled speaker above the viewport. "This is the starship landing at Menari Spaceport, Jason Maupoc speaking," Jason said, with a slightly accented baritone voice. Some urgent sounding speak came through the speaker this time. He smirked, making dimples in his smooth tanned skin.

He turned his seat to the left side of the control panels, tapping on the red tinted screen. It glowed in the semi-dark cockpit. It was to be slightly cold, with a soft breeze, a perfect day for a heist.

He chose Menari because of its remoteness to the rest of the city. Their technology was primitive in comparison to Bulova, and the airwaves easily hacked. He also liked it because of its closeness to a good part of the under levels, a place that smugglers, swindlers, and criminals liked to call "Wanted Paradise". Raiht’s Bar and Escort Services served all the scum of that planet.

When he finally touched down on Menari, he closed the viewport shield in the cockpit after viewing how many people were out there. He closed the vents to the engine room. He put on a thin white long sleeve shirt, a grey vest, and a black jacket. He attached his holster to his belt and put his DL22 blaster pistol in it. He equipped the back holster, and over it, he put his long black trench coat.

He walked down the hallway that circled the gunner turrets, and opened a small door which looked like a closet. Inside sat 4 assault rifles, but Jason chose the black E11, the same kind the stormtroopers used. By now, the troopers outside would be getting anxious and tired. Some might become trigger happy. As if on cue, Jason heard a loud blast, and quickly looked over to where he thought the blast came from. He looked back over to his rifle and finished loading it.

He walked out to the landing ramp, pushed his palm onto the hydraulic release, and he listened to the hiss as the ramp came down. On the ramp's outer camera, he saw the troops ready and poised for an attack. He set his rifle on a shelf, took a flash bang from that shelf, and tossed it out. He then closed his eyes and put his fingers in his ears. He waited 4 seconds, and opened his eyes and ears, picked up his rifle, and stepped slowly down the landing ramp.

Jason saw the stormtroopers laying there in agony, their systems in their helmets disabled, their eyes and ears shot. He aimed his rifle to the ones that made the most threat, such as the ones controlling the E-web, and the one dark trooper they had. His blasts were quick and in bursts; he aimed for the helmet, and on the face for the officers. He put his rifle in the holster beneath his trenchcoat, and then began to take their things. "These should fetch a nice price," he stated, taking the uniforms. He took time to organize the things, and put them in the correct places. The helmets and armor went into the armor closet; the uniforms went into the apparel closet. He stuck the weapons into his larger armory, and the gear into boxes labeled certain things.

He walked out of Menari spaceport wearing some sunglasses to shield his eyes from onlookers. His first mission was to find a turbolift, which he did within the first few seconds. He pushed the button labeled "153" with a gloved finger. The turbolift quickly began to descend.

When it stopped, he had to take off his sunglasses. It was too dark, and there were no troops down there anyway. He looked across the street, and saw a sign for Coruscant Apartments. He looked down the street and saw the flashing lights of the bar. Like a mosquito, he walked down the street towards the lights. He pushed open the glass door of the bar and nodded to the bartender, and glanced over to the dancers, then back at the bartender, who pointed his finger down a hallway. Jason once again nodded and proceeded down that hallway. He counted the rooms on the left. He knocked on the 3rd door. A slot opened just under the sign saying ‘Coran Black’. "Jason ‘Shadowfire’ Maupoc, Gun-for-hire," he said, monotonously, as if he had done so every day in his life. The door opened, and a shorter, older man was behind the door, probably in his late sixties. He stood there with a disgruntled look on his face.

"Hello Dad."

"Come inside, I have some bad news."

"I heard," Jason said, as they both sat down on opposite couches. "What's the news?"

"The holonet says that the Stormtroopers are going to begin a full scale blockade and military control of Corellia, to weed out all the smugglers, and hopefully find some elsewhere."

"They just have to ste-wait, isn't mom still there?"

"Yeah, Jacella’s still there, she's working as a bounty hunter for the crime lords."

"Buisness is going to be rough for her, and even us, dad."

"I know." A man entered knocked on the door. "Who is it?"

"It's the bartender," the man said, "Coran, turn on the Vidscreen."

"Alright," he said, grabbing the remote from the desk and pressing a button. The window behind his desk began to display an image of the news. The blockade was beginning.

"Shit," Jason said.

"You can say that again, but don't waste your breath. We need a plan."

"Know what I say? I say we go in there and blast those rocketards out of the sky, grab mom, and make a b-line for Nar Shadda, the only planet the Empire can't touch."

"Good plan, just one tiny flaw."

"And what's that."

"They have a well trained fleet of vessels that can probably outrun us, outgun us, and outlast us. We have a space transport, and an A-Wing. We need a stealthier approach."

"Get an imperial vessel! I hear they're selling Lambda cruisers with forged IDs for a good price in the Market."

"Alright, let's dial 'em up, can’t hurt, can it?" Coran said, pressing a few more buttons on the remote. An image of a young man appeared.

"Hey Coran, what's up? Got some stuff to sell?"

"No, we have some stuff to buy."

"Of course, what do you need?"

"We need a Lambda Shuttle with a forged ID, one that wasn't reported missing, a good, solid, safe ID Signature."

"Alright, need anything else? Some stormtrooper gear to appear inconspicuous perhaps?"

"No, I just nabbed some," Jason said.

"I think we're fine. Just get it ready for us by the time we get there."

There is a point in that slag heap of sarcasm. I was, however, being honest. Desaria will be dead in hirty years, if he lasts that long. His demise, however, is spectacular.

Twenty years from now, our dear Lord and Majesty the Emperor Hyfe has allowed his slipping command of the Force to drive him slightly mad and he has become all but a recluse in the halls of the Palace. Grand Marshal Simon Kaine has seen countless moments slip by because he refused to grab the reigns of power. No more, however. Assuming the Emperor is powerless to stop him, he usurps the throne and storms the Palace. However, when he arrives at the throne room, Hyfe is gone...

Somehow the tentacles of the Force grabbed the Emperor and removed him before Kaine and his men burst open the doors and he reappears in the Rim, a drifter.

Meanwhile, Simon Kaine consolidates power. Those closest to him come even closer though his protege and staunchest ally, Grand Admiral Desaria, is kept in the dark. Desaria is told the Emperor died of natural causes and a network of Intelligence operatives surround the Guardsman to make sure that fallacy is maintained - even though he reveres Kaine, he could not stand the thought of betraying his Emperor.

The Emperor reappears on the galactic scene a month later, haven taken the body of a much younger force user. His time is limited as the body cannot handle the power within and this is his last incarnation. He has but a month to reclaim what is his before he dies. Retaking the throne is a matter of pride.

The Empire is torn into civil war, brother fighter brother. Most believe Kaine to be the true Emperor, while a select few including Bhindi Drayson who know better, side with Hyfe. Several, such as Kraken and Theren Gevel, believe the choice too great - they wall off their fiefdoms and becomes kings unto themselves.

Twenty days of the most horrific combat since the Wrath virus ensues in which the whole of the Empire is scarred by ash and fire. The Emperor's fleet finally attacks Coruscant while Kaine and Desaria defend. The Emperor is no match for his two greatest military commanders but has an alternate plan - he knows Kaine's secret. Summoning the power of the force, he teleports himself to the bridge of the Imperium, Desaria's flagship, and reveals himself to be the true Emperor. The Grand Admiral doesn't understand at first, then recognition dawns on him. Sensing the realization, one of the Agents close to Desaria fires his blaster and wounds him before the Emperor crushes the man's skull with the Force. His visage fades and, injured, Desaria commands the evacuation of his ship. He angles the Super Star Destroyer directly at the Ebony Vigilance and engages the hyperdrive. Both ships are incinerated in a brilliant fireball. Their leaders all but done, the soldiers and sailors stop fighting and take stop of what has happened. The Emperor is reinstalled on the throne, only to die a day later.

In the post-battle analysis by General Staff officers, they see an anomaly near the Vigilance and quickly summon all holo-stills of the action. They see a few escape pods fleeing the doomed warship, one from very close to the bridge...

That's umm.. pretty detailed Telan..

*sigh*

I don't really have a set plan one way or the other regarding Kaine. I focus more on the "where he's been" aspect bridging the gaps of his past (current roleplays: The Darker Mark, Themien War, Rennaisance of War, etc..).

The quality about Kaine is that he's not some person of unlimited power or someone who's lived in ages past (being over centuries old) nor is he a force user. I wanted him to be very mortal and I wanted him to be a pragmantic believer in the Empire (not necessarily of Palpatine but more along the lines of the idea of what the Empire should represent).

At the time of his inception, I just wanted to learn fleet roleplaying using Kaine as a disposable character among the arsenal of TNO (a time when Fleet Commander Zell, Daemon Hyfe, Darth Exceron, Chau Ming, Darth Poreon and others walked the roleplaying halls of glory).

As the reputation of Simon Kaine grew, it became an asset he used as I wanted him to be a "soldier's soldier". Rather than throw a fleet into something, he would be content to use himself/ship thus relieving the "fleet" to other more practical uses.

He recklessly threw his warship Galactus in front of Gash Jiren's fleet during an NR attack (on Dantooine, I believe).

He shrewdly used himself and Galactus as a lightning rod facing off Emperor Fearsons at his capital no less keeping Fearson's attention (and the Jutraalian Empire's attention) on him rather than the maneuverings in Endgame to seize an unsuspecting Coruscant.

As time moved forward, the rashness of his decisions ebbed and his movements became more refined. His scope widened and he adopted the philosophy that it was not mere battles that decided victories in war (whether declared or undeclared) but logistics and attrition.

He was more than happy to deny Regrad his "end all be all" climactic battle to end all battles knowing that in the end, TNO could outproduce, outpace and outstretch the Coalition over time.

The key was patience had he had it in abundance. His great difficulty is that key others in the Empire did not and do not have it.

I wanted Kaine to be a person that was not going to be wrapped up in his own reputation and would be the type of person to risk it if need be, if he felt the cause was worth it. Most enemies are self defeating, being brilliant in something but being so wrapped up in themselves that it becomes that very character flaw that defeats them rather than any singular enemy. The humble warrior, as I thought him over time, would be someone dangerous to face or for an ideology to overpower.

I enjoy writing about the irony of having him be a pawn of Palpatine as a child only to escape the grasp of the dead man helming the very Empire that destroyed his family.

At one point I had thought to make him Emperor but Hyfe wanted to rp his own character and who was I to take that away? Instead, that rp'ing series became a bridge of the present with my alternate future rp, Of Endings. Another bridge will be the Themien War should I actually finish it.

Sometimees I start roleplays with no time period in mind letting the events of TRF shape their place in history (such as Rennasiance of War: The Unseen King, the events surrounding Glee Anselm and subsequent events related).

I have, at several points, thought of killing off Kaine. The Fall of Simon Kaine (ask Ahnk still refers to as FOSK) which became the Legacies Series was one such attempt. I have started to write Kaine over on Star Wars Epics at one point (more as a long term slow story telling project) which was supposed to be directly after the finale ending of Legacies (as the outline went). It was called Crossover and it utilized a technology that Kaine would come to control as a direct result of the Themien War. Nothing for fleeting but a cool storyline vehicle at any rate.

Back during Endgame, I had Ciscero, the Imperial Intelligence Officer who posed as Governor of Coruscant come close to "going native" in the role he played to such a point that he helps a Senator's grandchildren flee safely. In my mind, these grandchildren would grow up to become Jedi and defeat Kaine . Of course, how they do that with the Jedi Order now disbanded I do not know but perhaps that organization will not stay disbanded for long. I think it will not.

The events surrounding the end of Kaine I wrestle with from time to time. Do I let him die an anonymous death (like Brutus put forth in an assassination attempt at a restaurant (OG))? Do I give him the soldier's death of simply dying in the line of duty (such as Of Endings: Empty the Cries of the Vanquished)? Do I give him the greater than life death? I had Ciscero as the one who kills him based on a debt he felt he owed the Senator of the Endgame Series in Of Endings, Heavy the Crown of Victory...

As it stands now, with Regrad and the Coalition smashed to bits, he will focus on the only war that really matters in SW history (I just finished reading Path to Destruction, Darth Bane). That of the Jedi vs the Sith and how regular humanity (or people for that matter) factor in it on either side (which is the basic premise of Kingdom Come).

But in all things, what eventually happens to him will depend on TRF history as it plays out. I have toyed with an idea of having him disappear from TRF limelight after Kingdom Come letting the galaxy go on as it would and ressurrect him later on ... as an old man? Perhaps a man that has to come to grips with a reputation left behind and expectations blown far out of proportion? (I just started reading a book of the Lost Fleet series called Dauntless and it is an interesting idea).

Alot of my ideas change and evolve depending on what I am reading at the time.

***

As regards Ortho Gutt. My newest TNO character... he's my Palpatine Officer Template and an example of how a fool can come to have an absurd amount of power by simply being a fool in the right place at the right time. He will be manipulated by those above him (Kaine, Drayson..) and yet will seem to benefit personally from such manipulations until such a time as he's called to account. If that ever happens.

A truly selfish, arrogant and puffed up with his own self importance it's almost comical. And sad in a way as he seems to climb the social and rank ladder of responsibility with ease.

I also privately like to use him as the bane of Brutus Nogoth and Afdol Hilter. Being beaten by Kaine is one thing. Being bested or having to submit to this fool is quite another. :grin
