So for those who may have noticed, I've been rather active in the last few days, promoting the New Coalition, writing about how we're boosting the economy, or rebuilding, or the maps I've begun to keep about my person of the galaxy, or all the planets I've been gathering info on. But I've hit a stumbling block: I have no idea what to do with all this.

Ever since I wrote "The End" in the merger thread I've concentrated on trying to build up the Coalition, but I don't really know how to go about doing that. Now, taking more planets comes to mind, but that's just expansion, not real improvment of the faction as a whole. I really want to write well and make the Coalition look like a free, open, safe, friendly society, but I don't know how to get about to doing it.

Now, I wrote that "Politics" thread with the buffet, and that was ok as a stop-gap measure. I showed the New Coalition commiting itself to improvments, then said the improvments are being carried out. But that doesn't really seem like enough. Do I need a plot? A conflict? Maybe I should stop role-playing and start storytelling. But I really want to improve the New Coalition without going through wars or chaos.

Simply put, I'm completely confused, have no idea what I should be doing, and would just like to ask in general: Does anyone have any advice on what I should really be doing now with the New Coalition?

Start beefing it up. Take planets that are entwined with your existing planets, so you can have an effective reinforcement system. Build up your intelligence community. Start working on the economic side of your group, rebuild worlds, pacify the people, lower taxes, etc.

Kas is right. Think of your faction as a country. Start rebuilding the devastation from the last major war, boost up the economy, establish trade routes with other factions, form alliances, boost up the defenses and secure your borders, write the culture of the New Coalition, describe its traits, its tourist spots, etc.

And throw in there some development with your characters. When you do that, you make the reader care about what he is reading, instead of just reading a page of statistics, updates, and progress reports.

What did I tell you a while ago Dolash. When in doubt, take planets.

See, even Kas agrees with me.

Now hurry up and take planets. NOW.
