You take the shit Theren says way to seriously. Honestly, who gives a fuck?

That being said, while your ideals are all fine and dandy, they're hardly realistic. The number of people who end up happily married to their first boyfriend/girlfriend is very, very low.

It's not a matter of experiance, it's a simple matter of what you feel now you may not feel in a month's time, or a year's time. There are certainly those people who, as you said, go from girl to girl or guy to guy to get some sex, and that comes with its own set of beliefs and thouhgts... but the simple fact of the matter is, before you end up settling, you will probably have had more than one girlfriend.

Simple put, this:

Is there any real advantage to having been in multiple relationships? How long until your actions in the relationship become robotic? How many girls until what you say and what you do isn't really you, but merely a façade put on to snare a hot girl for a few nights of sex? How long until you can't truly be honest with the girl because you expect the relationship to end eventually? Is it better to move from girlfriend to girlfriend to girlfriend, enjoy passionate nights and romantic dinners yet at the same time loose your ability to be honest, open, and close to someone because you don't want to be hurt again? Maybe you like doing that, but I don't and won't. I have no desire at all to do that to myself, and even less to do that to anyone else. If you like that, fine, but don't ridicule me for holding myself to a set of standards that both she and I believe will save us pain.

being an effective school of thought for entering a relationship is a near-impossibility. I'd say that going into every relationship expecting it to be the one is as or more dangerous than going into every relationship expecting it to end.

Frankly, most relationships do end. This is not neccessarily a bad thing, it is entirely natural for humans.

Which is why we're taking it very, very slow. We've also been friends for ~two years, so we know each other fairly well already.

Anywhoo, I'm back.
