I don't like playing canon characters either. I would rather not have to reference a movie or book to see how my character would react to something. I'm told I write a good Han though.

I only play them if I feel confident enough that I can write them properly, and have enough knowledge of their background to pull it off.

Yeah.. I can only scratch the surface of using canon characters..

A Palpatine bit here and a Han Solo bit thing there. I don't think I do them all that well and so I stay away.

I like to flesh my characters out more than rehash movie personalities.

I have trouble enough playing my own characters, I'm definetly not one to try someone else's. Is it really that hard to come up with your own concepts these days?
