Calling You Out, Part II

I want to start by stating that I do not feel that the idea of the Germanican Grays is without merit, however; the application of the idea may have been somewhat flawed.

Kai Kadosa
* Change the GG background totally. Start it again. Max the wannabe-Jedi would then not be the founder of the Grays, but just a normal member in his own time. The Grays as a pseudo-Force organisation would have been founded a long time earlier.
* The Germanican head of state would also become a separate person (i.e. not Max).

I think you're on the right track here and I feel confident that TRF can support an internal retconn of this sort.

If I may make a few suggestions:

First and foremost, as you may have noticed, most of the factions here at TRF have adopted names that reflect their method government. There are some exceptions, naturally. And part of my inclination to suggest this course of action arises from a previous statments. Example below.

The Grays are an organisation of Force Sensitives founded by the Supreme Commander of the Germanican Empire, Max Reem. Basing themselves on his limited, but by nature as a royal, infallible, knowledge, the Grays developed their own cult. They soon became the secret police, intelligence service, personal bodyguard and elite soldiers of the Germanican Empire. Selected from above the most promising Force Sensitives, little is known about the organisation of the “Grays”.

This implies that they "Grays" do not represent the entirety of the Germanican Empire and, if there is so little known about that aspect of the faction, it seems odd that the people of Germanica would elect to adopt such a title; it is something of a minsnomer. Perhaps something that more accuratly reflects the ideas presented in the document quoted above.

That brings me to my next point...

Confirm with your fellow writers what, exactly, the aims and ambitions of the Germanican Empire are. I suggest you all have an open dialogue to discuss the options available and to be sure that everyone is on the same page. Ask yourself the five W's.

Moving right along, find out what role Max wants to play in the Empire. You seem very interested in helping him sort out the mess and that is respectable and I'm sure the community as a whole thanks you.

The most problematic part of the equation, near as I can tell, is Max himself and the history he hopes to establish. And this can be reconciled by simply retconning the events to match with the available timeline since Max's arrival at TRF and the conceptualization of the Grays.

All in all I think you have the right idea and with a little examination, perhaps, the Germanican Empire could be established as a new, current and relevant faction.

(pardon the proliferation of spelling errors, I'm too rushed)

I wrote all of the above before having read the previous comment by Kai.

What gives?

Actually, I've not made a single mock towards you Kai. You actually seem to have an air of wit about you.

My point is simply what I said: Sit back (look over everything that's actually been done IC), rethink (plan it from what you've got), and talk to the community (instead of just pressing onward without letting the community know what you're about, give us the low down of the premise of your faction and what the goals are).

More or less what Beff said in fewer words.

And if Max wants to fire you for actually trying to sort things out then... well, Titus warned me once about saying such words. ;)

I won't go into the particulars. That would involve quoting an MSN conversation which I don't want to do. Suffice us to say: Apparantly people have been laughing at my attempts at an open dialogue (I say apparantly) and in reopening this topic by posting that work-in-progress document, I have caved-in any change TGG had of becoming a faction here.

I don't wish to gossip here, so i'll leave the analysis to the reader.

Still, thank you for those points. It seems a shame to have wasted your reasoned critique there, Beff. Sorry for that! I would have taken the Germanicans along a route similar to that you outlined. However, it is not my group, nor have I ever claimed otherwise and the final say goes to Max. From what I can tell, he wants to keep things as they are now, without any of my suggested revisions.

Perhaps what annoyed him was the idea of bringing all this material out into the public view. Still, I wish Max the best of luck with TGG if he can make them work how he seems to want.

edit: Irtar: An air of wit :) Thank you! Well, i'm sure Max will have a perfectly well reasoned excuse for 'firing' me - as is his perogative....:P But yes, I agree with what you were saying there. It makes a lot more sense to get input from the community than to press ahead with a flawed idea. To me, at any rate.

Max needs to figure his shit out.

The issue is being considered elsewhere. For the intrem; a thought to keep in mind is that, should the whole premise falter under Max Reem, there is no reason that Germanica cannot be resurrected under a new banner.

Just a thought.

For now, consider what a "Germanican Empire" should be.

Beff, I'm keeping all my thoughts and notes, so if the situation were to change, there would still be the potential for the work not to be wasted.

As you suggest though, I think for now we should leave it be considered elsewhere by the powers that be.

I don't think i'll be posting any more this evening, because on my side of the Pond it's a minute until tomorrow and some sleep would be nice....:P

Thank you for the support, and it's interesting hear all the opinions on the subject here.

You could always join the Commonwealth (see Seth Vinda) since you've been 'fired'.

;)
