Wow, thank you so much everyone – what an outstanding greeting…

Yikes, I seem to have posted this info in the wrong thread; Sorry about that (it was policy at another board I RPed at to post a bio and sample with an introduction – so it was just an old habit.)

Thank you for the feedback and the directions, however – you are all very helpful, I’m very appreciative.

Also, thank you for all the kind compliments – after skimming over a few of the active role plays here, I have to say I’m looking forward to the high quality of writing I’ll be exposed to.

Um, to conclude… just in case I haven’t said it enough – Thanks! ;)

Heh, don't worry about it. We all make mistakes. Its good to get all the embarrasment of adjusting to a new system out in the beginning, otherwise you end up like Demos (just kidding buddy, but not really). First off, welcome to TRF. I, and I'm sure everyone else (right fellas?) hope you enjoy your stay for as long as you're here.

Anyway, best way to start off is as all newbies do, read the rules (link), study them, worship them. Once you've done that, post your bio and character information in the Biographies forum, where the staff and anyone obnoxious enough to think they are staff (Recon :P) will make sure its reasonably well written and follows our timeline. I only got a chance to briefly scan the bio you posted here, but from what I can tell that doesn't seem like it will be much of a problem for you.

Once you're done with that, you can either a) lurk around a bit and read some of the role-plays to get a better feel for the place, b) make an open thread in the Astral Astoria, our forum for freshly beginning players, or c) if you think you can handle it, dive right into the Battlegrounds proper. Again, from what I've seen from you're writing skill, I doubt anyone would protest if you chose to just dive right in.

Apart from that, you might want to see about getting involved with a faction, though of course its not mandatory. But many times it allows for a much better role-playing experience, as you have other people your character can closely relate to, or learn to closely relate to, to build up the intensity of your role-plays. Our Darkside is currently blossoming, and although there are a ton of those guys already, I'm sure they wouldn't object to one more. Our Lightside, while most definitely not as active as the Darkside, offers a much more diverse style of role-playing than the usual "Me good! Me kill bad!", and, of course, vice versa. On both sides, you'll find plenty of interesting and, for the most part (Demos), very nice people who I'm sure you'll have a smash writing with.

And, of course, if you need help at any time with anything, don't hesitate to ask just about anyone. Most of the veterans will be more than happy to answer any of your questions, and nobody can ever fault anyone for asking (except for Demos, who will tear you to pieces if you do). Most of us have AIM or MSN, so if you don't have either of those it might be a good idea to think about procuring one or the other, but if you don't want to the private message system works out just as well. My own AIM is Zark Ekan, so if you have any questions you'd like to direct to me, I'm available most of the time.

This has been a rather long winded post, so I'll just end it with one more quick welcome! Enjoy your stay at The Rebel Faction. :)

Very nice work, Simone! We would be happy to have you in the Jedi Order.

And don't worry about the communications forum. As far as I know, that really isn't a requirement. Anyone persecutes you for that is an absolute bastard. ;)

Welcome to the Rebel Faction!

*chuckls and speaks soothingly to the sobbing young man* No… shhh, no tears. I would be insane to leave such a wonderful crowd. I’ve been struggling to find a community on ezboard – the hack chased a lot of SW boards away…

… I’m very happy I tracked this one down.

Oh, one question before I forget:

Is there a board story line, or are all the RPs mostly independent?

Really depends on your definition of 'Board Storyline'.

If you mean thought out plots where we play our characters while being lead by the mechanitions of a 'GM', then for the most part no.

But if you mean that all RPs are considered as part of a timeline that all applied to and will have reprecussions that may play out further down the world, then yes. Very yes.

IE My character (Irtar) had his mother killed by a sith before a duel and as such is having a reprecussion for all my character's decisions later on the road. And soon, my character shall be starting a subgroup and a planetary push that many will take into account. Most likely TSO and TNO.
