Confederation Flagship Audacieuse, Fyre Sola System
The Confederation warships coalesced between the orbs that were Kashan and New Oceanus. Shrouded in the nebula, with only a few, secret hyperlanes that were heavily guarded by sensor stations and pulse-mass mines, the Fyre Sola system was undoubtably the safest Confederation space through an unusual combination of military might and clandestine operations. It was here that the largest Confederation warships were manufactured at the Kashan yards; it was here that the bulk of Confederation shock troopers underwent their rigourous training on New Oceanus; it was here that the fleet drilled, simulated battle, and tested new ships.
“Captain Walsh reports that the Styria Galleons are in position.”
Commodore Lucerne looked over the assembled fleet. It was small, by both galactic standards and by those which the KDF had trained under with the infamous Blue verses Red simulations. But it was necessary; for this was the final placement test for those who were newly graduated from the Academy.
The simulation involved two sets of ships: The Seraph Mk III Warrior, commanded by Awdin Malcost, on one hand, and a trio of Styria Galleons escorted by a sole Cavalier-class Medium Destroyer. It was suppose to simulate a commerce raid, with the goal of the Warrior to defeat the escorting Destroyer and then proceed to disable and capture the Galleons via a boarding action. It was admittedly ambitious for the Warrior’s crew, but it would be graded on a curve. The convoy, which was fairly slow because of the Styrias, had the goal of reaching a distant nav point to make a jump to hyperspace.
“Both sides are ready to commence sir.”
Corise nodded. “Commence simulation.”
“Aye sir.”
