Confederation Flagship Audacieuse, Fyre Sola System

The Confederation warships coalesced between the orbs that were Kashan and New Oceanus. Shrouded in the nebula, with only a few, secret hyperlanes that were heavily guarded by sensor stations and pulse-mass mines, the Fyre Sola system was undoubtably the safest Confederation space through an unusual combination of military might and clandestine operations. It was here that the largest Confederation warships were manufactured at the Kashan yards; it was here that the bulk of Confederation shock troopers underwent their rigourous training on New Oceanus; it was here that the fleet drilled, simulated battle, and tested new ships.

“Captain Walsh reports that the Styria Galleons are in position.”

Commodore Lucerne looked over the assembled fleet. It was small, by both galactic standards and by those which the KDF had trained under with the infamous Blue verses Red simulations. But it was necessary; for this was the final placement test for those who were newly graduated from the Academy.

The simulation involved two sets of ships: The Seraph Mk III Warrior, commanded by Awdin Malcost, on one hand, and a trio of Styria Galleons escorted by a sole Cavalier-class Medium Destroyer. It was suppose to simulate a commerce raid, with the goal of the Warrior to defeat the escorting Destroyer and then proceed to disable and capture the Galleons via a boarding action. It was admittedly ambitious for the Warrior’s crew, but it would be graded on a curve. The convoy, which was fairly slow because of the Styrias, had the goal of reaching a distant nav point to make a jump to hyperspace.

“Both sides are ready to commence sir.”

Corise nodded. “Commence simulation.”

“Aye sir.”

(Ok this was first time so hope i did it right)

For the past 5 years Awdin had studied at the Kashan military academy and the New Oceanus academy, studying everything he was expected to know and would need to know for the battles ahead. He had studied for this the final placement test that would determine where he started in navy, he had studied long and hard and was not about to make all the effort he had put into the academy go to waste. To add to that the Commodore Lucerne was watching himself, and to fail would not do well for his career future with the navy. To add to that he had been put in a situation which he had not studied as much as some others and that was boarding actions, and he was now scorning himself for not studying it more.

A communications officer broke through his worried thoughts, “Sir we have received the signal from the commodore’s ship, we are to commence.” The communications officer looked worried also maybe even more so than Awdin, he realized that if he failed it would most likely set them back to, now he knew he would have to win.

Awdin nodded and flipped on a general intercom switch, “All hands commence simulation. Shock troopers strike forces alpha and beta to transports. Delta and zeta don thruster packs and report to your respective hatches, and ready for boarding.” Awdin Tuned off the comm. and looked at the rest of the bridge crew. “Move into range of the convoy but keep us out of effective weapons range for the moment.

There was an almost imperceptible jerk as the engines engaged and took them around from their starting positions to face the mock convoy. Awdin had been given almost nothing except that there were 2 Styria Galleons and a ship of unknown class escorting them. That and that he had to capture them before the reached a nav point. An officer screamed from somewhere in the consoles “Sir there is only on ship escorting them as expected it is a Cavalier-class Medium Destroyer. It is normally armed sir nothing special about it.” Awdin nodded nothing that the Seraph couldn’t handle.

Awdin opened up a view screen of the engagement zone showing none position of all ships currently engaged, “Launch fighters Deathsabers first, have 3 to each bomber make sure the protect them from and incoming enemy fighters for the moments, and make sure the stay out of the firing of our guns.” He watched as the fighters arrayed around the Warrior and readied themselves for incoming, “On my orders fighters break off, Deathsabers engage any fighters still flying and bombers head for the destroyer and target its engines and bridge.”

Now Awdin put his attention to the destroyer, “All ion cannons commence fire, coordinate fire onto weak points try and break through the shields, turbolasers commence fire on the weakened areas.” He watched as the guns rotated and began to fire, creating a constant line of cyan streaks of light, followed shortly there after by the turbolasers green. “Fire all missile tubes two from each tube.” Awdin watched as the smoke streaked towards the destroyer, it had begun.
