The Sovereign Chiss Empire....

... a growing superpower born of chaos, and bread of war and fear, rising from the ashes of the Chiss Parliament, bringing rise to a more effective, Imperialistic rule. For generations, the Chiss people had thrived to better themselves; defend themselves against the threat of the unknown, and for centuries it had become nothing more than a cluster of planets bound together in peace.

The mighty warfleet of the Sovereign Chiss Empire exited the short hyperspace jump from the annexed territory of Anobis, the axial tilt of the blue-grey planet of Vortex growing larger and larger through the transparisteel viewing ports of the Imperial Mark Two Class Star Destroyer, Honorary Nuruodo, followed closely by a large gathering of support craft, starfighters, and cruisers.

"We're going to need a blitzkrieg, General Nouran." Xilen spoke in a hushed tone, his feet kicked up against the desk sitting before him in his relativly large quarters. "The winged Vors will not likely fight us on the ground, but in the air. We cannot afford to loose mass lives in this attack General. The assault on Seletek has worn the men down, made them weiry of war.

He stood, his Corellian cigar dangling from his inky blue hand. A holographic mapping table sat before him, small blue dots indicating the position of each Chiss warfleet, and an eerie black glow around them indicating clear space.

"We will not likely meet with any resistance here, which gives our fleet the advantage to leave at any given time, should we be attacked elsewhere." Pointing with the butt of his cigar, General Nouran standing at his side, Xilen pointed out the positions of invasion through the planet's survace on three fronts.

"After you seize command of this patch of ground, you will need to head north, into the center of Vors civilization. By seizing command of this city, you will seize command of the infamous rebuilt Cathedral of Winds, crushing there moral."

The map faded into an atmospheric view of the planet. "The planet's axial tilt creates sudden, and dangerous windstorms, General. Be prepared for them to use that to there advantage. After seizing command of the main city, you will need to go fourth into the underground caverns in which they dwell during the storm seasons, located here.." he points once again with the butt of his cigar.

Historical Notes from Vortex
<hr>

Vortex, the homeworld of the hollow-boned, winged Vors, is a blue and gray planet with a sharp axial tilt causing sudden seasonal changes and severe windstorms. The Cathedral of Winds, the center of Vor civilization, is an immense glassy structure designed to produce tones when Vortex's wind currents pass over and through it.

The Vors perform a beautiful concert of etherial music by opening and closing orifices in the building with their bodies. The Vors are an emotionless species, and tend to concentrate on larger goals rather than on individuals. They refused to perform their music for off-worlders during the reign of the Empire, and have only recently allowed New Republic and other dignitaries to attend these shows. All recording is prohibited, and only one concert is performed each year.

The Vors inhabit underground dwellings during the storm season, which can be seen from above as small mounds arranged in rings in the purple, vermilion, and tan grasses of the plains.

During a visit to Vortex by Admiral Ackbar and Leia Organa Solo, Ackbar's sabotaged B-wing crashed into and destroyed the centuries-old Cathedral of Winds and killed at least 358 Vors. A different, more streamlined Cathedral was then constructed by the Vors to replace the one destroyed in Ackbar's crash.

General Nouran was very proud to stand by the famous Xilen in another planetary takeover event. War was at hand once again. Nouran could see that he didn't think the Winged Vors would not be a threat. Nouran didn't think so; he was prepared for everything. He always considered the variables before action. He predicts a lot in his war strategies, and more than none he's right. Nouran was experienced in ground battle since he was ten when his father brought him into it. They used to play games about this.

He nodded to all of Xilen's statements and orders as he spoke along with the holographic mapping table. What Xilen had planned out is exactly what Nouran would have done given the chance. He knew Vortex fairly well since his dad was visiting there long ago before he died. He used to tell Nouran stories about the Cathedral of Winds. It was a fascinating place, one that would soon belong to the Sovereign Chiss Empire.

"My Grace, this is no problem. I also think the best bet is to quarantine that city with patrol troopers. These two outlying towns, hopefully, would not a threat to us if we did quarantine the city. It's risky, but worth it. Maybe thirty-six Patrol Troopers would be enough to hold off the outlying towns and communications outward. Though it may be totally unnecessary because they could be no threat at all. The decision is yours when I finish explaining what I would do."

He points to two locations on the Map, across from each other on both sides of the city, a little far out from the city.

He walked around to the opposite side of the table, across from Xilen. He studied the map for a second, then spoke.

"The Vortex world is very quiet when it comes to making contact with other worlds. They stay out of Galactic Politics; I know this from my father. I actually now a little more about Vortex than most people. I am not saying you don't know as much, I am just simply stating I know a lot about them. Since the New Republic, they have kept themselves secluded along with the other Winged Vors planets. This is their homeworld.

When we come in from the north from here-" He points. "-We might need a squadron or two of patrol troopers. They would be beneficial for cutting off the city. If we used the Patrol Troopers to quarantine the city instead, we can cut things off. Then we can use the air forces for force. Though the plan is in your hands alone, that's my suggestion. What do you think my Grace?"

He looked at Xilen and walked back to the other side of the table. He wasn't sure whether Xilen would agree since the Troopers were a little weary. Mass attack was simply out of the question and they both knew it from Xilen's statements. This time a tactical war would be required. Though a little harder to accomplish victory, tactical wars were obviously a little more complicated and hard to win. Mass attack is usually much simpler. The Sovereign Chiss Empire was virtually unknown to the Vors. An attack wouldn't be expected in the least bit. An attack would surprise them, in General Nouran's opinion.

Xilen stood in silence, reviewing the General's battle tactic. Vortex was a troubled world.... a world of sorrow, and of sadness. And a world of triumph, a cultural highlight of the Galaxy. The mighty Cathedral of the Winds, the very heart and center of the Vor civilization stood not only as a merely an immense structure structure of glass, but as a center of art, and serenity throughout the Galaxy.

Xilen shook his head pointing at the holographic map before them once more. "I'm considering a change of policy, General. The Vor are an emotionless people, unlike there cousins on Geonosis. They are more like ants, consentrating on the good of the colony, rather than personal self worth. It is in my most humble opinion that if we take out the militaristic colonies, we should have no problem with the other, less hostile Vors on the planets." He pointed to three small squares on the map, each of them growing in size to produce a tactical map of each sector. "A symotanious attack on these militaristic colonies should prevent them from massing together for a frontal attack, which could damage our offensive." small blue and yellow circles appeared on the map at the push of a button, indicating the battle that would take place, and how it should. Xilen used a pointing stick to point out troop positions, and a means of attack. "If my species analasis is correct, the Vors will attempt to defend the main enterence to there hive, which gives us the advantage of picking off the ones that venture too far away from it, taking out there numbers slowly, yet gracefully, with minimal, if any casualties ourselves."

With another click, one hundred red circles appeared on the map. "A battallion of Droidekas will assist in the frontal assault on the main enterence of the hive. The larger battle drones of the Vors colony should take up a defensive position there, which will not venture out, as the smaller, worker Vors would. When, and if the Droidekas expire, a squadron of TIE Bombers fly into the sector in attack pattern Csilla, and destroy the weaker upper sections of the colonies, creating an uproar of Vors attempting to protect the hive as a whole, giving our troops a chance to quarantine the capital city without interfearance from the larger soldier Vors. Take in your patrol, and keep it there. Meanwhile, back at the now devistated colonies, a small contingent of troops will enter the colony through one of the created holes, penitrating deeply, and quickly to exterminate the Vors colony drones, and queen. After this has been completed, the soldiers, workers, and nurse Vors of that colony will have no direction, and should cease all hostilities to rebuild the colony. Withdrawl immediatly after that event, and assist in the same event at the other colonies, if necessary."

Xilen sat back, pushing another button which returned the map to it's normal positioning. "Collateral damage will not be accepted, General Nouran. Avoid any damage to the capital, and the Cathedral at all costs. Do I make myself clear?"

General Nouran nodded his head, and offered a military salute. "Yes sir!"

Xilen nodded his head, returning the salute casually as the General spun on his heel, and walked out of the room. At the hiss of the airlock, Xilen sat in his chair, smiled and ignited a cigar. As he inhailed, only one thought came to mind.... Nouran will make a fine officer in the days ahead...
