Generis
"Good morning, Ensign Commodore. How was your night?"
Tellis Commodore jumped out of the captain's chair on the bridge of the Bakura-class Destroyer Infallible and saluted smartly to Captain Braxton as he stepped onto the bridge, "Just fine sir. We aligned the sensors at 0300 as requested sir."
Braxton nodded and sat in his chair, and read the report handed to him by the young officer, "Point three off?"
"Yes sir."
Braxton nodded absentmidedly. Such was the life of a peacetime ship captain. Braxton and the Infallible lead Generis's defense fleet. The out-of-the-way planet rarely received any attention from anybody and was usually very quiet.
But not today.
Commodore, who had seated himself at the sensor station, suddenly looked up, "Sir... you should see this..."
Braxton stood without really thinking, and not looking up from his report, "What is it, Ensign?"
"Twenty five ships just dropped out of hyperspace, and are closing on our position fast." Commodore said calmly, "They are all Star Destroyers."
That made Braxton look up, "Ours?"
He dreaded the ensign's next words: "No sir. They are registering as Imperial."
Braxton's cup of stim caf dropped out of his hand and shattered all over the normally pristine floor, "What!? Thats impossible! We would have detected them before they even reached us!"
Commodore continued to operate the console, "They are closing fast sir!"
"All hands to battlestations! Bring the turbolasers online, and launch our fighters! Send a signal to all nearby worlds, as well as Onyx, informing them of the situation."
"Our fleet is coming up sir... but this is strange.... the Justice... it's registering as a Strike-class Cruiser...."
Braxton frowned, "The Justice is a Haven Light Cruiser."
"Correct sir.... and the Insipid is registering as a...no this is impossible..."
"As a what?"
"A Super Star Destroyer."
Braxton's mouth fell open, "But it's a Bakura-class like us!"
"Our fighters are getting confused! They don't know who to target!"
Braxton wanted to go lay down. his head was suddenly hurting very much.
"We are receiving a transmission... from within the Imperial formation..." Commodore said.
"Put it on..."
"Captain Arien Braxton?" A familiar voice came over the comm.
"Admiral...Logan?"
"Yes. Congradulations, you are the first victim of a new vessel, straight out of Sanctuary."
"Sir?"
Commodore silently signalled that the 'Imperial fleet' had suddenly vanished, and the ID tags had been restored to their proper ships. Only a single vessel remained, a ship unlinke any Braxton had ever seen.
It was shaped like a thin needle-like dagger, with four huge bulges, not unlike those of an Interdictor Cruiser, along the hull. There were no running lights, and the ship was coating in a reflective paint making it very hard to make out without some sort of magnification.
"Captain Braxton, meet the Concealer."
